Cost: $ 8 Lunch Buffer, 11AM-3PM Vibes: Family Décor: 3⁄5 Location: Parking is rare This place is a go to spot. A-OK might look like a bad rating but it’s not. It’s a comfort food, Indian/Pakistani restaurant, and it does a good job at being itself. The food is good and inexpensive. Go see for yourself.

This place never fails to please my hungry self. I come here every now and then when I’m craving some south asian food and I am satisfied every time. I usually order the kebabs in a nan roll. They are so good! I get both chicken and beef because I can’t decide on which I like better. The butter chicken is really good as well. Definitely have it with some nan. The biryani rice is great as well. Even their regular rice. There is also another chicken dish I get a lot but I always forget the name. I know it’s a spicy one lol. I also love the little salad and green mint sauce that they give on the side. It is great in combination with the other heavily yet perfectly spiced dishes. I would recommend this place to anyone whether you have tried paki food before or not.

For New Year’s decided to bring chicken biryani to a party and gave an order. For a medium tray of biryani it was $ 55 and that’s good for 15 to maybe 20 people… We all enjoyed it and I’m hoping to try Shadman’s $ 8 buffet in future. But I do believe you’d have to arrive early as the tables fill up during the lunch rush.

Realizing that a limited audience will be able to get here weekdays between 11 and 3, I want to note that the $ 8 buffet at that time is a great deal, providing a choice of around seven or eight dishes.

I’m not really sure what Indian is supposed to taste but we decided to step outside of our comfort zone and found this place. food was not great— but the fact that they microwave your dish in front of you after scooping it from a buffet style line is kinda messed up. They had no food descriptions and when I asked the girl behind the counter what a food on the line was and she said«balls in sauce». what kind of balls? I finally sat down to try my food and unfortunately had to get the food nuked again bc it didn’t warm all the way thru. Yum. and they mixed my two different types of curries together in a big bowl so I still don’t know what Indian food is supposed to taste like. Pass.

Shadman’s food is tasty and prices are reasonable. The samosa chaat is delicious and only 4 dollars. The people who work there are very accommodating. It’s deli style so you can come in and out quickly. If you choose to dine in there is a clean area to sit.

Been coming here for a very, very long time and have seen this place undergo many management and name changes. However, this place will always have the best chicken tikka masala I have ever had, and their poori and chana masala are a must on weekends. Highly recommended.

1 year ago I would have given this place 4 stars, 6 months ago I would have given it 3 but at this time as i am writing this restaurant’s review for the first time, I can’t justify more than 2 stars! We used to drive up from Manhattan to Jersey city to get food packed from Shadman. Food was excellent and price was great too. Just like all such places, food quality keeps changing and unfortunately the same happened here. Last week we got 3 dishes packed and all of them were pretty average to somewhat bad. We have decided not to go back again for some time atleast.

This is our go to place when I want some quick and delicious food on the way home from the train station. Despite the fact that the place looks like a fast food place with a lot of microwave, food here is surprisingly good. My favorite dishes are lamb curry with naan and stewed okra(?). Chicken and beef kebabs are amazing too, very flavorful and tender. We have tried free other dishes with chicken such as chicken curry, chicken biryani, they are just ok.

This place never fails to disappoint. The briyani is AMAZING here. Pop usually brings home kabobs and naans from here though. This restaurant has never once disappointed me. The food is great. It is a true to life dive. Little seating space and the décor is pretty bare. The food is what you concentrate on here. I recommend the following: –Briyani –Naan –kabobs(chicken and beef) Parking sucks here but what can you do, it’s Jersey City bruh. Live with it.

A friend recommended it as it was the closest one to his house for pakistani food. Fresh basic food but tasty. Their kebabs were great and very well marinated and cooked. Got a paratha, keema, haleem, chicken biryani and white rice. Perfectly cooked and amazing taste as mentioned. Enough place to sit and eat in peace also the service is great and aunty up front loves to take care of her customers. one thing that i noticed here was the crows was very mixed people from all cultures were enjoying it. Dont expect your regular paki or indo spice level these are for everyone to enjoy.

Very good for the price ! The kababs are good, would have been better if they would have made it bit spicier. The gravy items are OK. The food is already prepared and kept on the counter, you just have to order and they heat it up in microwave and serve it with nan/rice. Nothing much to speak about the ambiance. Its a take out kind of place with 4 – 5 tables.

Well the food tastes decent for what it costs. Nan breads are great for $ 1 a piece it more than what you can ask for. I’m not too found their vegetarian food; at times, because the food is heated in microwave the taste is compromised. Again for a low price point I’m willing to compromise a little bit. If you have asked for ‘to go’ then a word of caution– the lady and gent on the counter are a bit absent minded. I have had two occasions, and my mates have their experiences too, where what you order for, what is packed and what you pay for do not reconcile. Please ensure you check your packet before you leave!!!

The biryani is very mediocre. Dont expect any service. All the food is premade and just microwaved when you order. The currys are really good especially goat and lamb kheema.

Hello friends ! I have been Visiting this fine vicinity for a long time. Its a Paki & indo cuisine at core. The chef is super serious. He is always on top of things. Its not your usual crowd of paki or indian or bengali. Its white black brown arabs & chinos too !!! Everyone’s enjoying it ! Food is well balanced in terms of spices ! You can taste the flavor and enjoy your food ! It gives u a hint of spice then its gone. Not like the typical paki or indian food screaming with spices to the point of sweat out match ! Super casual vicinity. Clean. Service is awesome. Spacious. They do half plates which is great for tasting other dishes. Highly recommend is beef kebabs !!! Haleem(finely braised chucks of meat cooked with lentils & pulses) Goat curry not lamb curry ! Simple nan(no butter please) Good atmosphere ! Enjoy

A small quaint place in Jersey City. Their meat dishes are better than their vegetarian fare. The«hot table» buffet items are not hot and get microwaved before being given to you. The rates are very economical for jersey city. The kebabs are the only reason I keep coming back. $ 10 minimum for credit cards and no home delivery.

Food is average, but if you are in the area for some work, it’s a safe bet. The grill stuff is pretty good. The food is a little bit oily. Was not a fan of the nihari, the kadai chicken is good though! The kheer(rice pudding) is exceptionally good. Very cheap!

It was okay. I was expecting more flavorful biryani. It’s close by to Pershing Plaza if you are ever craving some spice, but I would only go here if I was really desperate(which I was that day). Good to have options around Grove Street. Might as well take the walk to Amiya if you want some quality food and it’s not too cold.

I had so far avoided going here due to some of the negative reviews I had heard but thought would take a chance seeing the crowds here. The food here is really tasty and at a good price too! The serving system needs some getting used to. You go the glass buffet area and choose what you want and pay up front at the counter. The dishes don’t have labels but u can always ask more details. We had the chicken seekh kababs, chicken achaari and goat curry with naans. The kebabs were so good as was the chicken achaari, very different from what I had tried so far. The kababs come with a yoghurt mint sauce and complimentary salad. It’s a lot of food for 2 ppl and we ended up with leftovers. We saw a lot of people leave with large catering orders so I guess they are popular for that as well. Can’t wait to try the biryani now!

This place has one of the lowest-priced buffets I have ever been to. At $ 7,the lunch hour buffet is quite a steal. Even though the variety of dishes is limited, whatever is available is pretty solid fare. The one time I came here, the buffet had options ranging from channa masala to chicken saag to a delectable rice pudding. Even though it came as a not-so-pleasant surprise that the array of food was not served warm, the quality of food does not seem to be affected by this factor.(though I would have preferred it warm) I had come here with a couple of friends almost towards the end of lunch hour and the person at the counter was really nice and very accommodative of the fact that we sat and gabbed away way past the lunch time. Even though the buffet lunch timing was over, she made sure that we had finished our lunch before closing down the buffet.
