Very happy with the results, Phyllis gave me the professional look I wanted. All I told her when she asked me what I wanted was for her to make look good for work. She cut my hair to compliment my face and gave me detailed instructions on how to maintain the style. It cost more than I anticipated but I’ll be back after I save up.

Dirty salon. Messy floor, unkempt items, stuff in the drain, bad lighting. Felt very neglected and like it wouldnt pass an inspection. I should have walked out but felt rude. The hair dresser was SLOW. I was there for 90 + minutes just getting a trim and blow-dry and she kept stoping to talk to people. I was in a rush by the hour mark(my hair still wet) and let her know. The hair cut was UNEVEN and I had to go elsewhere to get it fixed. The atrocious cut wasn’t even the worst part about this place. The hygiene and service were childlike. The owner was disciplining her daughter uncomfortably in front of the 2 customers they had AND talking down to her employees. Everyone seemed unclear on that this is a business and not a social gathering. Did I mention how disgustingly dirty it was? DIRTY. Don’t go here.

I have mixed feelings about my experience. I intended to go to another salon but they were booked, so I decided to try this place because I just desperately wanted to cut my hair that evening. When I showed up, there was just one young woman working there and no clients so I was served right away which was perfect, but I did find it kind of odd that she was there alone. She was very nice and friendly and made me feel very comfortable. I asked her how long it would take and she said about an hour, which was as long as I could stay because I had to meet up with my bf right after. My hair was very long, and I told her I wanted to donate it. I thought hair stylists were supposed to know about the procedure of donating hair but she didn’t and asked me to look it up on my phone. I did, and she cut the ponytail off. She then did the shampoo and then we went back to the front to do the haircut. I thought I explained what I wanted clearly. I said that I wanted a simple cut. I had told her how long I wanted it and that I wanted short layers at the bottom but not too much because my hair tends to have a lot of volume already. She asked me if I wanted to try an angled bob and I said no, I just wanted something very simple. So as she was cutting my hair, I noticed that the back was shorter than the front. I started feeling it with my fingers and it definitely was. I asked her about it and she said that’s what she thought I wanted. I told her no, and told her again what I wanted. She apologized and shortened the front. I didn’t really mind that it was being cut a bit shorter than I had asked for because I honestly was so tired of long hair, I was just happy it was getting cut, but it just really bothered me that I could have ended up with a hair style that I never asked for! Along with scissors, she also used a razor on my hair which I thought was weird. I’ve never been to a salon that did that before so that made me feel very concerned because I heard that using a razor can damage the ends. I didn’t say anything because I felt afraid of questioning it, so she just continued. I later went on the internet to research if it really was bad, and surprisingly I found that it wasn’t, but I guess I’ll have to see for myself. When she finished the cut and started blow drying, it had been an hour and I was getting antsy to leave to meet up with my bf so I wouldn’t be too late. She couldn’t finish blow drying but I didn’t care, I was honestly just happy my hair was cut. She quickly ran the blow dryer through all my hair so at least it wouldn’t be too wet. I wish she could have put a little bit of hair product in my hair though since it was still wet so it wouldn’t frizz outside. She was spraying some in the sections she was blow drying when she first started, but I don’t think the rest of my hair received any hair product. She gave me a 10% discount which I thought was nice after what happened. And my total was $ 59. Okay, so I feel like I spent way too much money on this haircut. I don’t usually spend this much on my hair, sometimes I even cut it myself to save money, but even when I go to a lower-end place, I’ve never had any problems and they even put a good amount of hair product in before I leave so my hair doesn’t puff after I walk out. After leaving this salon, I put some of my non-scented lotion in my hair to act as conditioner to calm it down. I also noticed that the front was still longer than the back. I actually ended up really liking it better than just a straight cut, but it just concerns me that I still didn’t get what I asked for. I usually do bring pictures with me when I get a cut, but I just thought what I wanted was so simple, I wouldn’t need to. Perhaps I’m wrong, idk. I will not be coming back here. The young woman was very nice, but the experience was not pleasant. I felt anxious the whole time that something might go wrong. Definitely did not meet my expectations, and that’s coming from someone who is used to getting $ 12 cuts at Supercuts. I feel like I didn’t get what I paid for.

We want honesty here right? I found the ladies in this shop to be very unprofessional. There were people I assumed worked there just sitting around eating take-out that smelled, and not really doing anything much to help. They didn’t even acknowledge the presence of customers. Another woman seemed annoyed that I was getting served before her because she’s «a regular». Sorry, I made an «appointment». I went in for a blowout for a party that night and it took me almost two hours before I was able to walk out with a blow out that was ‘just okay’. They sat me under a cap dryer for 25 minutes saying that they needed to get the moisture out, while I got cold, my hair started to frizz and my shirt got wet. Why weren’t they using a blow dryer for that like EVERYOTHERSALON I HAVEEVERBEENTO? She seemed annoyed when I questioned it. It seemed lazy and like they didn’t want to be bothered. The blowout itself was odd. She told me right away she didnt have the brush she’d prefer to use on my hair and then the one she used she was yanking out and definitely splitting my ends. I told her I was hard headed and not sensitive, but I definitely didn’t want to have my hair shredded. Not only did they seem to have no sense of time or urgency to get clients in and out, but they then they tried to charge me more than the giant sign in front of their store advertised — $ 40 for blowouts. I had even called in advance to confirm the price. They never once said — if your hair is long it will be $ 60. She acted like she was doing me a favor by honoring the price she quoted me, and that was when I knew I wouldn’t be back. $ 60 for a blow out — BYEFELECIA!

Phyllis is fantastic and keeps my hair looking good. It is nice to have a salon in the neighborhood with so many friendly faces. I highly recommend this salon to anyone who is looking for a good home for your hair.
