Finally!!! Was craving lasagna but didn’t feel like going out. I could never find good lasagna in downtown jersey city. Found Larry & Joe’s online and decided to take a chance. THEYDELIVER… inexpensive. Large portions. It was UNBELIEVABLE. Anti pasta salad was enough for 2, maybe 3. And a large menu with so many options. Now that I’ve found this place I’m def going to have to go back to the gym. Highly recommend.

Homey Delightful Surprise I have had many good pizzas, but this place deserves a good review because the business and the food was well above my expectations. By the looks of the place I did not have the highest expectations(from pictures and from outside). However once you go in, the people and the way they do business just gives you a feeling of sincerity. The service was fast, friendly and the pizza was fresh. I have to add the crust was perfect, just how I like the crust on the average italian/American pizza. I got the pizza with all the toppings and it was really good. I do recommend to take off the beef slices. It was too meaty/thick to go with the soft cheese. If you’re looking for a quick bite in the area(which I was) don’t hesitate. I was hungry and now I am perfectly satisfied.

This pizza place is pretty terrific. I had a whole large cheese and pepperoni that I shared with 2 others plus I ordered a Greek Salad with Chicken. Also very good and fresh tasting. Someone next to me was eating the lasagna, which looked really good. I want to try that next time. The service was friendly. It’s obvious that this is a mom n pop. Friendly and clean place. I will certainly be returning! Prices are very reasonable.

Just another shout-out here to Larry & Joe’s for their most excellent lasagna! The meat sauce is so so good. A very generous portion that will easily last you for two meals. Nice guys working here too. Cash only.

I can only speak for the pizza here. Pretty average hole-in-the-wall pizza joint. The plain slices are pretty good, not the best I’ve ever had but certainly far from the worst. For 2.5 days of jury duty this is where I chose to eat. The guy at the front counter is friendly. For 2 slices and a can of soda it was $ 5 not a bad deal. At lunch time though try to avoid 12:30ish that is when the high school next store rushes the place and 30 – 40 kids try to cram in the small space, it’s chaotic. I would grab your food and go. If I get stuck on jury duty again in 3 years I will likely be back here. A-OK.

The BESTPIZZAINJC! When u order a pie and ask for it well done and crispy… that’s how it comes every time. That is hard to find consistently. The slice literally stands straight up and u hear the crunch when you sink your teeth into it. Their Greek salad has huge chunks of feta and they aren’t cheap with the portions. The prices are affordable and delivery is usually pretty quick. Yum!

Larry’s and Joe’s provides a typical hometown slice of pizza that you need. When things around are just getting a little too fancy for what you needs this is the place to go for real Italian American pizza. I often judge pizzerias by how good their plain slices are and Larry and Joe’s delivers great plain cheese pizza!

I’m not very familiar with Jersey City and was looking for a quick lunch during a break at the courthouse. I was pleasantly surprised to find this gem. I ordered a grilled chicken salad. The portion was large, the chicken was freshly grilled, juicy, tender, and well-seasoned, the veggies were ample and fresh, and all were well complimented by the light vinaigrette. Good to know I have a staple in JC if I need a quick, inexpensive meal near the courthouse.

If you’re here for pizza I’m sure you will have a much different review than the one I’m about to give. I ordered a Greek salad there and it literally took 30 minutes to come out. To the point that I had to make it a to-go instead of eating there. The salad itself had way too much dressing and the lettuce was in huge chunks — as if they just pulled it off the head and threw it in the bowl. That aside, I did appreciate the fresh ingredients they did have as part of that salad. And for the price point the portion is pretty big. Soo come here for pizza. But not during lunch time. The end.

I think my boyfriend and I found our go-to pizza place… We ordered a large plain pizza for pick-up, which cost $ 12.50. They take cash only, heads up. The interior seems clean, and the people friendly. As we were leaving we noticed two cops at a table eating the pizza… a sure sign for a good place. The pizza itself was quite delicious. The sauce is sweet, and the crust is really good — thin but puffy along the edge. It is a bit greasy… but I admit I liked that! Tastes like how a really good NY pizza should.

I have been eating at Larry and Joe’s forever. My family know the owners pretty well so my opinion might be biased but my stomach sure isn’t. Pizza is always good — order a white bar pie, a little greasy but worth it! Have also had their chicken on a bun with bacon and mozz, classically great and cheap! Baked ziti with breaded chicken on top is a must have for first timers — the chicken is fresh and it def fills you up(love the sauce!). This item is not on the menu BUT. .. EVERYONENEEDSTOTRYIT! It is. .. Order a Grilled Chicken Sandwhich with melted mozz, grilled onions(well done), and balsamic vinegar — ask them to toast the bread. That is all you need to know. God speed.

Huge slice of pizza and a root beer for really cheap. The pizza tasted great and guys that work there are cool. They’ve got a nice tv to watch sports on as well. Great place to chill and blow off some steam for cheap.

Full confession: I’m a pizzatarian and could eat the stuff 3x day. I live right by La Rustique and was ordering from them every Saturday night, without fail. Charlie, the owner, made a great pie and life was good. A few months ago he hired someone to make the pies and another to take phone orders. As other readers have already stated: things went downhill — the sauce was straight from a can, orders were mixed up. I had to break up with La Rustique. It has since been sold and the new owner uses sauce straight from a can, quality is spotty(sometimes over or undercooked, etc.), blech. Went back to Carmines — for awhile. I’d order, hang up the phone and«ding-dong», the doorbell would sound with delivery of those pies. Not really sure how they managed it though I suspect that they’ve outfitted the glove compartments of the delivery fleet with pizza ovens and simply troll around the neighborhood, awaiting an order. They are THAT fast. At the urging of many here I caved and gave Larry and Joe’s a jingle. Grabbed my friend and dove into a large, extra, cheese pie. Monsterously good — the sauce was flavorful, the crust medium thick and the toppings fresh. I’m embarrased for Charlie of La Rustique to see the Larry and Joe’s delivery car pulling up but a girl’s gotta do what she’s gotta do. I love Larry and Joe’s.

People are waxing poetically here because this is the best pizzeria in this section of Jersey City. More over, it’s one of the best places for food in general around here, where the options generally suck. Being around the corner from me, I’ve grabbed a slice or ordered a pie via take out plenty of times; never tried the Italian food, more on that in a second. The people who run it are friendly enough, and they get orders ready in a reasonable amount of time. They also like watching college basketball, so it’s usually on the TV. I haven’t tried the Italian food – only the pizza – and what I’ve seen is that Larry & Joe’s is a decent place to pick up a pizza in an area with no other. If you order by the slice, you get a giant(Bronx) slice for $ 2. That’s a pretty stellar deal, and I’m bumping this up a star for that alone. The crust has a mild bready flavor and come up pretty crisp and sturdy given its size. The cheese is decent quality and not too oily. The sauce is sweet and chunky, and is the main reason I don’t eat here all that often; when you get a pie with meatballs however, the sweetness is balanced by the spices and the meat. It’s one of the only times I’d say a sauce needs some herbs added to it. It has held me back from ordering the Italian food here too, though generally I can make most of what’s on the menu at home anyway. Overall the pizza here is still decent and the prices are low, which are enough to make me patronize them. If you’re in the area and need a slice, stop by.
