After 3years of searching I finally found my hair dresser! Kitty is a genius! I highly recommend her and this salon. Definitely will come !

I’m obsessed w hair salons and I’m not afraid to admit it. Ive had a vision of finding a place in JC that does amazing blowouts without using unnecessary products and burning your hair… with a warm, friendly, and unpretentious vibe and service… and décor that’s clean, honest, and fun. This place fit the bill! Elena did my blowout perfectly. She has mad skills and is a sweetheart to boot. Thrilled to have found this place. There’s no lack of hair salons in this city but I’ve finallllllly found one that I can go back to !

Visited LaKoet to get my hair balayaged by Jillian yesterday. My hair came out amazing and the salon itself was so inviting. Jillian listened to exactly what I wanted and I couldn’t be happier with the end result. Kitty, the owner, also makes a lot of different soaps, scubs, & hair treatments and I couldn’t leave without buying at least 5 different soaps. They all smelled amazing! I will definitely be back again.

I need to tell people that my experience here was very special. Kitty is a hair goddess! I would refer everyone to her and her beautiful staff.

Kitty cut and colored my hair and I love it! She listened to what I wanted and we talked through what would realistically work for me. And then she did it as discussed. Also, the LaKoet Blue Dew hair product applied before drying helps tame the frizz and makes my hair look silky, and it smells amazing. The late opening hours are great too because now I don’t need to leave work early or spend a weekend day having my hair done.

About 2 months ago I drove an hour away to have my hair colored. They were highly recommended by a few close friends. I Wanted to go from dark to blonde balayage but she did a horrible job. Color wasn’t even close to what I wanted and to add on top of that I had patches in my hair. I was so unhappy.
So fast forward a month later a close friend gave Lakoet a shot. And I absolutely loved her hair! So I decided to try them out. Being that I’m very picky I wanted to go to someone who I know is capable of doing a good job. I try not to be a difficult person but after 2 bad experiences I have to be difficult. I showed up for my long awaited appointment with Kitty and 3 hours later I was a nice blonde!!! I loved it! Kitty is very meticulous and anal so she doesn’t know how to do a sloppy half assed job. And that’s exactly how I like it. Right when I walked out the salon and days later I was constantly getting compliments on my hair. Not only did the color come out nice but the balayage was perfect. Thank you Kitty! I’ll be coming back soon!

I’ve gotten my haircut by both Kitty and Lula and loved each experience. The atmosphere is light and friendly, I feel refreshed and pampered ready to face the world again every time I emerge from the salon.
The homemade soaps is a seriously nice touch that sets this salon apart from other trendy spots in JC, not only do they smell nice, they are also therapeutic. The «flu fighter» helped my congestion big time.
Haircut for medium long hair is $ 70, blow dry is part of that deal which is more than I can say for some of the salon’s competitors.
The word is now out that the ladies are awesome so you should book in advance. :)

Kitty was fantastic. The staff were friendly, accommodating and ensured I had an enjoyable experience. It seemed that the employees were friendly and cared about one another which speaks volumes about a work environment. I was offered water/​tea/​wine, I received a great haircut, free soap samples and overall, a sense of being listened to. There was no pushy sales pitch or using product demands. I’ll definitely go back and plan to recommend this salon to many of my JC friends.

I followed Kitty and Lula from their last salon. Both of them are lovely and talented, so I always enjoy my visits and end up with great hair. I get highlights and I am kind of finicky (and poor at giving direction) so I appreciate their patience. The new salon is beautiful and comfortable and they sell really nice products. I can’t recommend them more highly.

I was referred here by a friend and had a lovely experience. First star: online booking for appointments!
I arrived for my appointment at 3:45 and Kitty (my stylist/​the owner) was still with her prior appointment, so I accepted a glass of wine and waited for about 15 minutes.
Kitty talked to me briefly about what I wanted. I knew I wanted to cut off about 4 – 5 inches but didn’t have more of an idea than that, so she made some suggestions.
The shampoo was good, with a deep conditioner that they apparently make themselves.
The $ 70 cut was quick and painless. She showed me a way to twist my hair to encourage my curls while they dry. The product she used made them a little crunchy, so I’m not sure how I will feel about the haircut once it’s more ‘natural’, but right now I feel good about it.
The energy in the salon is great, it’s beautiful and smells lovely thanks to all their products and soaps that they sell!

Beyond grateful for these ladies. I came in looking like a crazy woman, from an awful experience down the block at another salon. Luckily Kitty was able to take me, and I’m telling you it was destiny. She was sweet and so patient with me. I felt like such a traitor for even coming from another salon so she could take me, but she was amazing! She listened and gave me exactly what I asked for and more. The place is beautiful, the décor, the aura, and the odor of the place is just addicting I didn’t want to leave.
I highly recommend this place, and am counting down the days my hair grows back a few inches so I can go back lol

I have been seeing Kitty for over 2 years and am so happy for her & her new space & salon! The vibe and experience from when you walk in until you leave is amazing & relaxed! The new color products that she is using last much longer than previous brands! Kitty’s soap & bath products also smell amazing & my children LOVE getting Kitty’s soaps that have surprises hidden inside of them!
I had seen Lula 1 or 2x at a previous salon, too & loved her, as well! Glad she is back in JC!

Above all things, let’s talk about the amazing people who work here. Kitty is my hair stylist and owner and she is my everything. So grateful she opened up her own spot in downtown. Also I used to get my hair cut from Lula and she is also the sweetest and most talented stylist so no matter who you book you can’t go wrong. Great hair cuts, great colorist, and great ambiance. Truly a great space to just do your girl thing and walk out looking fabulous. Love, love, love!!!

I followed Kitty to LaKoet from another salon and was so thrilled to hear LaKoet was all hers! She has the most amazing energy and it translates to the space and service. Kitty is thoughtful, honest and thorough — exactly what I need when all I have is some obscure pixelated photo as inspiration. Looking forward to another great cut.

This is a great new salon where some of my favorite stylists from Aire and Tousled now work (Elena, Lula, and Kitty). It has a casual, friendly atmosphere, lots of space, and is nicely decorated — very relaxing. Best of all, they take late-​night appointments on weekdays. I used to have to scramble between salons to get weekend appointments, but now this will be my go-​to spot.

I don’t usually do reviews but I had to say something about Kitty’s new salon LaKoet. I’ve been going to Kitty for about 3 years now and won’t let anyone else touch my hair. She’s a master at color! Even if you have your own stylist, stop by to check out her line of hair and bath products! It’s a friendly, fun, casual, classy and comfortable environment and you’ll be glad you stopped in!

I figured I would update as I just went back to color my roots. Kitty has selected an amazing line of hair color that most other salons don’t use. I color my hair red, which is notoriously hard to keep bright and vibrant. The color line that Kitty uses however is amazing!!! Other brands of dye fade out so much that after a few weeks it’s unrecognizable. My color faded, as I expected, but was still definitely a beautiful and dimensional red after 6 weeks! The other wonderful thing about the dye is that it doesn’t have a chemical smell. So if you are pregnant or sensitive to the chemical smell most salons have you won’t experience that at LaKoet.
One of the other things I really like about the salon are the mirrors Kitty has hung at all of the stations. I’m really short and at some salons the mirrors start somewhat high and the chairs are low and I can’t see anything during the process. The mirrors at LaKoet are so large and hung low enough that I can watch the entire color, cut and blow out process, which in the scheme of things is small, but it makes a difference to me.

Sooo glad I found Kitty! She has been cutting my hair for the last year and I wouldn’t go anywhere else. I am so glad to see she opened her own salon! The space was beautiful, staff friendly, and haircut… PERFECT for me!

This salon is a great new addition to jersey city. My family has been going to Kitty and Lula for several years. Kitty has been cutting my sons hair since he was two and somehow manages to get him to sit calmly through his hair cuts. He looks forward to going to the salon. I have several friends who love her coloring techniques and cuts.
I have been going to Lula for over two years. I have always been extremely satisfied with every color and cut. I just left the salon and am both happy with my hair and the salon experience. The products look amazing and my hair smells fresh and feels light. The chairs at the wash sinks have leg rests, I could have totally fell asleep they were so comfortable! I am so happy to see this new salon with some of my favorite stylists in jersey city.

I just got a haircut here, by Kitty, and loved my entire experience! If you’re in the market for a cut, definitely give this new addition to Jersey City a chance.
