I bought a can of Zip Strip paint thinner on the assistant’s recommendations. On the back of the can it said, «Liability limited to refund of purchase price or replacement of product.» There was no safety seal when I opened the can, and I was unsatisfied with the performance of the product. When I tried to return it, the store owner refused the refund and refused to discuss it. That’s the kind of attitude that causes small businesses to fail. Sorry, but I won’t return.
I hate it when I patronize small businesses and discover that we never had an understanding. I feel so devalued. That’s the downside of going to a small business. If we don’t get along, and there are no similar stores nearby, I will have to purchase at a big box store and I don’t want to subsidize the Wall Street folks. I really want to help small businesses, but I think many of the business owners need a class on customer service.

I go here all the time. There’s this one guy, Dave, who knows exactly what I mean when I ask if he has the thingy that attaches the doodad to the whatsit. And they always have everything I need. I dig going here to support local business and I have not yet had to suffer by them not having something I can find at one of the big box stores on Rte 440. I dig Duncan Hardware.
