More of a luncheonette than a deli, they make a varied choice of lunch options from wraps to salads to fish tacos to curry chicken to hummus to multiple Asian inspired options as well. Everything is fresh and the salmon steak salad is my personal favorite, but ask for their house balsamic dressing which is incredible on any salad option.

Wowmazing. What a gem of a place in Jersey City. I came here for brunch and had a burst of flavor explode in my mouth with every bite. The steak marinated in soy sauce accompanied by two eggs over easy! Best brunch I’ve had in a while. One small critique, it would be prudent to serve a carb with the meal such as toast. An all protein breakfast tends to be very heavy if not partnered with bread of some sorts. I also enjoyed a latte after the meal completion and it was fantastic. It is always a struggle to find a place that doesn’t make a latte taste burned or too milky. Well, this place does it JUSTRIGHT! I almost ordered a second one. The seating is a little cramped, but that’s to be expected when the food is so amazing. There is very long group table in the middle of the seating area that tends to house very loud groups. Almost too loud for the tiny space. I’d suggest breaking it up so people do not need to shout to communicate to the other end. Waiter was good! Very attentive yet not too clingy. We were seated in a matter of 2 minutes. That’s a huge plus! Great job all! I look forward to another fantastic brunch in the near future.

Great food, great service and great ambience. I’ve tried a few places in JC but most looked fancy and food did not live up to the looks. Try the chilies quilies.

We came here for Valentine’s day brunch, we liked the atmosphere a lot. I loved the fact that the tea came in awesome big ass bowl looking cup. We liked the Benedicts and there was a sauce with my omelet that I loved too. Service was good, and so was atmosphere. The omelet was just okay, the Benedicts were the way to go.

Another jem in Downtown Jersey city. A fantastic place for breakfast on the go, or a casual lunch or dinner. Great gourmet versions and some old school classics. Sandwiches, burgers, pastas and salads all top notch. If you’re a robust coffee fan their brew is the best in town.

I came in today for a cappuccino and ham and cheese croissant. It was snowing outside, so I expected, as a paying customer, I would be allowed to sit and eat my breakfast in peace. But after I ordered, I was informed that I was not allowed to sit at an empty bar seat because it was table service only. There were two bar seats, both vacant and no customers waiting to take those spots. The servers insisted and I was forced to eat on the bench outside the café in the cold and snow. Exceptionally poor service and to top it all, the milk in the cappuccino was scalding hot and burnt my tongue. Never again.

I only came here for a latte and I ended up getting a dessert as well. I like trying different types of pies. So when I saw the strawberry peach pie, I knew I had to get it. It was surprising good. It is not super sweet and it has a good crust with soft pieces of fruit. The chai latte was also really good.

This is fast becoming one of my favorite«work from home» cafes in Jersey City. There’s always plenty of room to park a laptop amongst the mommies and glitterati that while away their weekdays sipping lattes and nibbling muffins. Another bonus is the all-day breakfast which will always hold a place that’s near and dear to my heart. I love the lattes, I like the food. The people watching is a dream and in the warmer months they have one of the biggest patios in Jersey City. Plus it’s BYOB should you care to «make it Irish» like Fun Bobby.

Solid lunch spot. Would I recommend coming to Jersey City just to eat here? No, but if you work in the area, it’s good enough to add to your daily lunch rotation. Beechwood is not your average café. They don’t really specialize in any particular cuisine; their menu is practically all over the place with breakfast items to sandwiches, pastas, and even«Korean» options! It’s kind of like a diner and a café had a baby and out came Beechwood. My favorite dish is their Korean steak sandwich on an onion focaccia roll. Being a major bread lover, a restaurant’s bread is key for me. Not to mention focaccia bread is my absolute favorite. The steak is juicy and tender that it drips all over your arms, so be sure to ask for extra napkins! Also, if you think a sandwich isn’t enough, it’s also served with a huge side of a pesto pasta salad. You can substitute the pasta salad with fries if you’d like, but I enjoyed the pesto pasta salad as well. For $ 11, this combination is such a steal as you practically get 2 lunches for the price of 1!

Smoked Salmon Sandwich hard boiled egg mixed with basil mayo and Korean chives, smoked salmon, mixed green, tomato and red onion on whole wheat bread $ 12 For reference, this is what I ordered(for takeout). What I got was a plain bagel with cream cheese and salmon. Called and asked what happened, because certainly a plain bagel wouldn’t be $ 12, but was told they use ‘high end salmon’ and that I was out of luck. ‘Maybe the menu online is out of date.‘ Thanks for nothing, with so many other options(and wonder bagel serving the same salmon/cream cheese sandwich on a fresh bagel two blocks away for $ 7.75), we won’t be back. Least stars.

Well this is a big place with a nice view of the street through the large glass windows. The menu has a good selection for brunch, lots of egg dishes. I had an egg sandwich on challah which was good but they had to make it over as I had requested goat cheese and not American. The service also wasn’t great even though they weren’t that busy. The food itself was good but nothing special.

I love the pancake here. It is crunchy outside, soft inside and … healthy in the sense that not much oil was used to cook it. We order farmer’s breakfast, breakfast wrap and lox with poached egg. They were all good but do no have anything special.

I have absolutely no idea why this place has 3 stars overall! I’m usually a pretty hard critic but I thoroughly enjoyed my meal here at Beechwood. I went here this Sunday for brunch and even though it was pretty full, got a table right away. Our hostess was amazing! I wish I remembered her name! She was so patient, always smiling and just gave off the best vibes. We always went to Marco and Pepe right opposite but their service is so bad we decided to try Beechwood out. I’m so glad we did, because I’m definitely going to be a regular! My boyfriend for the Huevos rancheros and oh my god, they were amazing! It was probably the best version either of us had ever tasted. Everything was so fresh and well seasoned. I got an omelette which was very well made, the spinach inside was so nice and fresh. At most restaurants they turn the spinach soggy. Another friend got the fried chicken and pancakes and he enjoyed it. The place is byob which was great because we got to drink a lot and not burn a hole in our wallets too. I’m giving it 4 stars now, but I can’t wait to try out more food, and edit this to 5!

I really enjoy brunch at Beechwood! Be warned that the service is fairly slow, but I go to brunch to relax and spend time with friends(which, I mean, who doesn’t?) so I don’t mind the extended dining experience. The menu has just enough choices to be interesting but not enough to be overwhelming. I’ve been twice now and have gotten the Huevos Rancheros and a breakfast sandwich and both were delicious! Also, the apple pie though– it’s incredible. In my opinion, apple pie is a breakfast, brunch, lunch, AND dinner food. Try it. They have BYOB, so we brought a bottle of champagne, they brought us a mason jar of orange juice, and we wasted away the morning. A great brunch experience :-)

We were visiting friends and decided to eat out with our pup. This restaurant allowed us to eat outside if our dog stayed on the outside of their roped seating area. Apparently NJ changed the law and pets are not allowed at restaurants even if you sit outside. There was a table close to the roped barrier so we sat there. We were the only ones out there on a Saturday night. The menu is an interesting Korean fusion collection with kimchi burgers and bulgolgi tacos. I decided to get the hot stone bowl bulgolgi. The meat was good but the dish was mostly large pieces of veggies.

Very friendly and quick service but the food is ok. I do enjoy the teas and coffees that they make since it’s very aromatic and the teas are light(you can taste the flavor and they barely, if they even do, put sugar in it). The service is very quick, even on a busy weekend brunch hour but the food is just mediocre. My friend got the huevos rancheros and the nachos on the bottom are way too soggy and the overall dish was just very soupy. I got the avocado Benedict on wheat bread and that was well done. The eggs were poached to perfection and the toast was thick enough to support the avocado and eggs. However I was not a big fan of the potato wedges that accompanied the dish, they were cut too unevenly and a little soggy as well. The chai latte was delicious though.

4 stars for atmosphere 3 stars for food Overall probably a 3.5 but I’m rounding down since I wasn’t too impressed with the food. My friend ordered the huevos rancheros. We were surprised when it was served with tortilla chips. Regardless he said it was pretty good so I guess their twist on huevos rancheros(although unique) actually works! I ordered an egg white and hash combo with a side of corned beef. Everything was mediocre. The corned beef was dry(a little like eating beef jerky). Overall the Beechwood Café is cute and conveniently located near the Grove Street Path which makes it a practical place to meet with friends. Also, there’s less of a wait here compared to other restaurants in the area during prime brunch hour(which is a plus). Outdoor seating is available if you prefer fresh air with your coffee!

Tried this place for brunch last weekend. There was a bit of a wait but lucked out by getting a spot near the window at a cozy table overlooking the street. Extensive brunch menu but NYC prices. While a major shout out to the quick service, the food was mediocre. I got a California omelet($ 11) that came with a piece of toast and some potato scramble. Nothing special though the omelet did have a good veggie to cheese to egg ratio. The potato mash was literally just potato smashed up and one piece of toast is a let down. My boyfriend got steak and eggs and though no comments during the meal other than«good» — he was sick(and not the fun kind of sick) the rest of the day. I will not be making a return trip unless I need a reason for a sick day.

Beechwood Café is a small, trendy spot on Grove across from City Hall. They have a nice selection of teas and coffee, along with a food menu. What they do, they do well: the teas are fresh and the food is tasty and satisfying(in particular, the Beechwood Salad wrap: mixed greens, roasted red pepper, walnuts, goat cheese, grilled chicken and bacon). Why only 3 stars? The atmosphere, drinks, and food don’t justify the price. That wrap ran $ 12. Other places can do what Beechwood Café does better, and for less. You’re paying for location, more than anything else.

Solid eats. Service lacked, and their coffee was horrible. They should reach out to JC’s master coffee roasters modcup and bring something in that is super local and delicious. A great coffee probably would have elevated this meal for me to 5 stars. Get: the fried chicken and waffles and USE the spicy jalapeño mayo WITH the syrup. Seriously. The cornmeal pancakes were also heavenly. I wasn’t expecting the nutty crunchy center of the pancakes but I loved it. If you didn’t like nuts, you would be surprised but not in a good way. Only mentioning this as I do not recall reading nuts with this pancake. Their menu layout is a little hard to read. We got a seat right away on a Saturday at their communal farm table. It was a little wide but I love this kind of seating. I’d surly come back as this is a solid local brunch option. I’ll just grab a modcup coffee Togo beforehand down the street from The kitchen at grove street.
