Update: I know I said I wouldn’t be back. But that was four years ago and I decided to give them another chance. So I stopped by there today to buy a potted plant for my elderly aunt’s birthday party tomorrow, and I did find a nice one. I also brought with a K&W coupon for the month of May, which would get me a «single tomato plant» for 99 cents, regular $ 2.49. Found a table of tomato plants that were $ 2.19, $ 2.39, but no $ 2.49. So I went to the service desk for help, where the girl told me they were out of the May coupon tomatoes. Really, K&W? It’s only the 16th and they’re gone. And you won’t substitute another of your(not all that great looking) cheaper tomato plants? Sigh. See you in another four years, maybe. P. S. I notice the receipt now states«Plant returns accepted 48 hours after purchase.» Hope Auntie’s plant does better than the first plant I bought there!(See my original review.)

K and W is a real Janesville institution. I have been gardening for several years and have been to gardening shops all over south central Wisconsin. K and W is one of the best. Perhaps The best. That is true especially as far as the vast and excellent selection, and the high quality of plants. The staff is also helpful and knowledgable. It’s always a pleasure to visit K and W. The only drawback is that on some items the prices here are a bit higher than competitors. Things like Arbor Vitae are often considerably cheaper at the big box stores. But if prices are close its worth it to buy at K and W. The big boxes can’t compete on selection and service. And K and W is one of the best parts about living in Janesville.

In California we had an incredible neighborhood nursery, plus we were miles from Rogers Gardens in Corona Del Mar. Admittedly, in hindsight, we were spoiled. When we arrived in Janesville, it snowed as we were unpacking, so we had no time to explore the local nurseries until Spring. We did a lot of internet research, added the ones recommended by friends and family, then started visiting. Many were nice nurseries, but they were just the averages experiences. Then my father, also from California, said K & W. Upon our first visit, I was love with the place. It was very similar to our previous neighborhood nursery, and had a higher quality of products, plants and décor. The staff is very friendly, helpful and informational. One gardener spent 30 minutes with me talking about garden rodents, plants to detour them, and bugs to be on the lookout. Amazing service. We purchased many of our new landscaping plants here. The quality of K & W plants is better than any other nursery in town. They also provided us with documents guaranteeing our larger plants for 12 months. We hired another company to do some landscaping, because their quote was much lower, lesson learned. K & W does what they say, when they schedule it, they don’t fly by the seat of their pants. We are having more landscaping done next year and K & W is our choice. Oh, and all the projects the other landscaper never got around to in 2014 … sad but true.
