kirt the manager made some great bourbon drinks for us and hand wrote 5 places to eat at while we where in town
we had to comeback the next night for more great drinks and to thank him for the 2 restaurants that we wnet to from his list

So after our Unilocal event here I was determined to come back and so glad I finally did. There specials are great (I should know I had 3) and priced very well. The atmosphere is earthy and chillaxed. The bartendars are attentative to your needs, but they didnt talk much. The parking is a hit n miss but no complaints. The pizza smell from next door will drive you over there by the end of the night so be prepared for a taste of pizza heaven. I would say the owner has a great gig in the 2 businesses and I have already shared to my friends that they need to stop over after work soon!

Sidecar is one of my favorite places in all of Jacksonville. The craft cocktail wave finally made it over here and I think Sidecar is the best example in town.
It already gets a star for being attached to V Pizza — V has the best pizza in town, so when you’re a few drinks deep it’s really convenient to have that great pizza delivered.
I still haven’t sat on the large patio, but once it cools off again in a few months it looks like a great spot. Lots of exposed brick on the inside, and they even have a couch or two in the back.
Anyway, when I was in college the idea of paying $ 10 or more made my head hurt — that wouldn’t happen at the beaches bars. Now that I’m not out until 2 every morning, I’d much rather pay $ 10 for an enjoyable, unique cocktail than multiple watered down well+mixer drinks that cost less. Sidecar is the best place for this.
The menu has both their signature drinks as well as all of the classic cocktails you would expect. They often have a concoction on draft — the last time I was there they had a drink called a doctor’s cocktail on draft that is one of my favorite drinks I’ve ever had.
Lastly, the service is fantastic. Don’t expect table service, because they don’t do it. I think that throws some people off initially. The bartenders (and Dan in particular) have an encyclopedic knowledge of cocktails and you can learn a lot just chatting with them while they make your drink. Sure, it’s a little more expensive, but you basically get a miniature class on mixology with each drink. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area.

I love sitting outside, but I hate sitting inside (especially if the bar is full). The décor is very casual and dark, but it is almost impossible to carry a conversation because of the sound insulation.
They switch their cocktail menu quite often and you can uncover a very cool drink ($ 8-​$ 9) if you make the correct selection. The cocktail names are also quite witty. If You don’t feel like exploring, you can order classics cocktails, beer or wine.
Since this establishment is connected to vpizza, you can place orders from their menu and eat at sidecar. This is very convenient.
They also have regular and late night happy hour specials.

Love this place and I’m completely convinced that Kurt is the best in all the land! Daniel is also a fave! Sidecar has everything you could want in a bar, great atmosphere, super friendly and knowledgable staff, some of the best drinks I have had in Jacksonville, and a partnership with V Pizza –which is also killer! Check it out, you’ll be glad you did!

I live in the area and had visited V Pizza, but never got around to trying Sidecar. When my neighbor and I were hungry for dinner, we decided to check out Sidecar as well. It’s connected to V Pizza next door, so we decided to order our drinks, then I headed over to V Pizza to order. V Pizza gives you a special number to carry over to Sidecar, then walks the pizza over so you don’t have to worry about getting up. All the drinks are handcrafted, with care and detail. They have a specials board, usually with a couple of drinks, a special drink of the week, and a beer/​shots combination.

Jackie was amazing and understood everything I was talking about. She was a complete angel in disguise and I appreciate someone like her and how she cared for someone she didn’t know. She touched my heart and I’m glad to have came when she was working

If there is a single place in Jacksonville that I’d recommend going to it’s Sidecar. These bartenders know what they’re doing. Kurt and Matt are legends. The passion and quality that they pour into each cocktail is remarkable. They treat each and every guest (that I’ve seen, including me and everyone I’ve brought here) like royalty. Even at times when they’re extremely busy, they make sure you not only are noticed and taken care of, but feel welcome and understood. These guys truly care about their craft and display a wealth of knowledge beyond anything I’ve seen. You won’t be let down!

This is a cool little bar attached to a pizza joint. I found it the first time because Aardwolf closes at 11 and this place is open until 2am.
Friendly service. It’s a little hard to order from the bar when the bar seats are all taken, not a lot of space to reach in between people.

A cool, chill, relaxed bar. Friendly bartenders that know how to make a drink. With a more millennial feel or should I say hipster it’s not arrogant nor pretentious. Many different people and ages can enjoy this place.

I don’t get out much, so my review criteria for this type of place is high. If we get to go out, I want amazingness. We came here because the brewery across the street was closed.
They have tons of liquor here, if you are into that. It seems like they could make whatever you wanted. As a group we ended up trying two of the mixed drinks listed on the menu card. They were delicious. They added a lemon peel to one that looked like a flower. I can appreciate the extra pizazz. The drinks on the menu card were between $ 9-​$ 12 from what I remember. For two mixed drinks and one red wine we spent $ 29. I’m not up on pricing, but I assume in a fancy type area that is a decent price. The wine at least was served in a larger glass and they weren’t stingy with the amount. I only needed one glass to last the hour or so we were there.
They have tables here and the atmosphere is pretty chill. We were comfortable just standing to talk while here. There was plenty of open space even once it started getting more crowded (around 10:30pm).

Don’t expect to be waited on for food or drinks you need to go to the bar and wait. Staff is lazy and snooty about taking care of tables. The could use. A better class of clientele didn’t like posting my drivers license as hostage for a Moscow mule in a copper mug.
Pizza from V is excellent but they just sit next door so not sure they deserve credit for that. Good selection of craft beer and cocktails but pricey.

I try to be early or at least on time, when I meet with a group of people. I was early to have dinner at V Pizza. So I came over here for a drink to relax and unwind for a few before everyone arrived. This a real cool place to meet friends for a drink or two. Prices were not bad at all.

Loved that this bar is attached the pizza restaurant. The drinks are much better and the priced pretty reasonably. It has the usual bar feel, with the option to order food from next door. So if you are looking to hang with friends to pre-​game, hand here, if you want family vibes, then dine in the pizza restaurant. They have a ton of craft beer on tap which was nice and they offer samples as well! Even better they are located right across the street from the Homewood Suites and Hilton Garden so you can walk there! Overall, not a bad spot.

Definitely a Jacksonville gem for a late night hangout.
This particular bar specializes in cocktails. They do offer the casual mix drinks, wine and beer for the less daring.
I tried their daiquiri and lavender cocktails. Both were refreshing and mildly sweet. The nice part, no after taste in my opinion.
Cost:
Low as $ 8 to high as $ 10…not bad compare to an experience in Chicago. This place sure is a steal.
Bartenders:
They are friendly and hip (ster). They listen and so have met mine and my friends cocktail expectation.

Great cocktails, I really enjoyed the «Thick As Thieves», old forester bourbon, cheerwine, lemon, fennel bitters, angostura bitter.
Service is a little slow, you have to stand in line at the bar since they don’t serve at the tables. Once you get their attention (even if you are 6’4 like me, it takes a while (-;) they are very friendly.

So, I have been back from my initial visit… and this time fell in love with the Sidecar!
The bartenders were so amazing… that made the experience for me.
This past trip, I did see more specialty cocktails… and even though I just had a beer (I was driving) most of them looked super tasty… and the few drinks I had from other’s glasses confirmed.
And, if was during the holidays, and they had eggnog on tap. And wow, did it have a kick!
Can’t wait to head back!

This was my first time at Sidecar and I definitely dig the vibe. The service was great. The drinks were good as was the pizza.
Will I be back, yes, but probably not too often.
Unfortunately, I’m just not a big Bourbon or Whiskey drinker and since that’s kind of their thing it’s just not really my kind of place.
That being said, it is definitely a cool place to go in the San Marco area and I can see why it’s well liked.

I will ride in this Sidecar any time. Had a chance to stop in when a few friends weren’t ready for our holiday galavanting to end.
Eggnog on tap? Yes, please! If eggnog was sold year round, my waistline would not appreciate it. This concoction packed a nice punch. And while at first we were concerned I was slightly cheated with the small glass, we quickly figured out why it was such a small serving. WOW!
For my second round, my husband ordered the Dr. Bombay’s Mule. This drink was a nice twist on one of my classic favorites — the Moscow Mule. The flavors worked well together and were nice on the palate.
Parking happened to be a breeze while we were there and we got to cap off a special night with good friends. It’s quite a drive back to the beach, so I really won’t be able to end my nights here on a regular basis, but it’s a great place to share a cocktail with friends.

Within 10 minutes of sitting down and ordering at this bar I heard the Violent Femmes and the Velvet Underground playing on the radio. Although great music is not necessarily criteria for a good rating, it is so cool that this place knows how to play good music. I enjoyed getting drinks from Dan the bartender he, was really efficient and very nice.
Sidecar has a great selection of local beers including Cigar City and the very local brand Aardwolf. The prices were pretty decent for a round of beer when compared with other places I’ve been. I really liked that there are tables in a covered patio outside and some nice areas inside the bar to chill. The bar area inside has glass window panes with bar drinks/​offerings drawn into the glass panes, like menus. I hate to throw the word «hipster» around lightly but this place did seem like a sweet little hipster bar. Great atmosphere and I would definitely go back.
