The owner is very friendly and knows how to bake a mean pizza! This is my favorite place after work. They’ve got pool tables, karoake and a vast beer selection.

I have been a loyal local for about 4 years now! I can’t believe it’s been that long but I can understand why I have kept coming back year after year… The staff is super welcoming and really make you feel like one of them. If you’re looking for that«everyone knows your name» feeling, this is and can be that place for you. (Sometimes they have check-in special, ex. free jello shots ha.) But other than that, they have yummy/hot/super cheesy/huge pizza slices. Grab a beer, a slice or two and play some pool. Always fun local groups meeting up for discussions that are open to most everyone. If not that, they will have some local music playing live or have the big entertainment of the day playing on a large screen. Gotta check this place out — really embraces the local Duval vibe.

We didn’t spend a ton of time in here, but just popped over for a quick bite before a show next door at the Underbelly. Dark, divey with a lot of beers on tap.(My kind of place!) We bellied up to the bar, had brews in our hands moments later, and the bartender was super nice and gave the rest of our party(and«light» beer drinkers) some great craft selections. I saw my slice sitting in the display area, and was heated up and served up on a paper plate. Even though it was re-heated, it was pretty good! Sauce had good flavor(not too sweet, but more on the tangy side) with plenty of cheese and pepperonis. I can only imagine what it would taste like right out of the oven! Our friend ordered the cheese sticks, and it took just a little bit to get to us(made fresh), but was worth the wait. Basically a cheese pizza san sauce and super cheesy, hot and fresh. I had more than a few bites. Yum. All in all, this place is open late with a great beer selection, so if you are out and about downtown and needing a quick bite, stop by and check em out.

Food was very good for dive bar fare, but the only service was a the bar. If you can get the bartender off her phone it’s worth having some of their pizza. Went back the next day because it was close to our hotel. We left after 5 minutes because even with two bartenders the service was poor. Music is 80s and 90s with the corresponding video projected on the wall. Cool to see some classic songs actually had videos.

Terrible! Tasted like chlorine. $ 10 cheese plain ass pizza was smaller than a Pizza Hut personal pan. Never going back, ever

I like to come by Northstar for improv on the weekends. The local improv group«Mad Cowford» does short form improv — think«Who’s line is it anyway?» on Friday nights for 5 bucks. It’s really fast paced and interactive, and it’s about as much fun as you can have in this town for $ 5. The troupe is hilarious, and changes cast from time to time. They also do a long form improv show most Saturday nights. The food is pretty solid here. It’s a pizza place, and a no-frills one. They aren’t breaking the mold on any of their menu items. Having said that every pizza I’ve had has been consistently good. The breadsticks are really good as well. The beer selection is good. They have a line of taps that basically lines the back wall of the bar. There are several local and regional breweries represented, as well as a number of national craft brands. The pricing is great. Make whatever judgments you will about my taste, but I recently got a pitcher of Boddington’s and two fistfuls of Jello shots for something like $ 18. Score! They open Wed-Sat around 4, and stay open pretty late every night. It’s downtown on Bay street, so parking is just basically wherever you can find it. It’s definitely worth coming by for a late night slice of pizza or a show.

Great pizza, great staff, great drinks, a lot of beer on tap, and just a great atmosphere! I love this bar! The staff is so great they are like family when you come in! They have great comedy shows on the weekend! The pizza is amazing and you just want a slice, buy just the slice!

This is based on the atmosphere, staff and drinks; I have not tried the food here yet: Awesome. I love this place. The staff ate attentive, friendly and knowledge about each of the 37 beers they offer on tap! The sign out front says they serve chicken wings but that is not true so forget it. Doesn’t matter though! They have everything you’d expect from a pizza bar: Pizza, salads and cheesy bread! I haven’t tried it but everyone around me is enjoying piping hot slices and it kind of makes me feel like I’m back home where you can go to the village and grab a slice at any time, listen to good music and just relax with cool people. Will definitely come here again and try one of these slices. I ordered my usual drink: double cherry vodka with a splash of soda and it is perfect. Exactly what I asked for. They serve everything in solo cup which keeps the vibe low key and unpretentious. Just kick back, people watch and enjoy your drink. Rock on.

Neat little bar with good selection of beers on tap. Definitely not a modern, high end place but to have some beers and pizza, good place. Had a very friendly, polite, and sweet bartender wait on me. In fact, I walked in and forgot money and she offered to pay tab. I went back and paid!

A great, unexpected find while walking downtown. I snacked on a yummy Buffalo Chicken Pizza while the boyfriend sipped on a Angry Redhead during an open mic night. The staff, entertainment, and environment were enjoyable. The low prices make the pizza taste that much better. I look forward to going back.

Another great find in this town that I used to call boring! It is a divey ‘bar’ that has great food, too. Improv is there on Friday nights, and if you pass this gem by, you are missing out. Staff is just what you’d want/expect in this hip joint – awesome, attentive, and genuine.

Visited here after One Spark on a Friday night, it was obviously pretty packed but had live music and good atmosphere which always makes me happy. Little bit Divey but that’s ok. They also have frozen drinks which are always fun and a helpful staff.

Not sure how I never heard of this place! They have almost 40 beer on tap. They serve pizza by the slice for $ 2.50 and have a full menu. Bartenders were a little preoccupied on there cell phones– but were friendly and resourceful once ready to give you service. Can’t wait to go back!

Good place to grab a beer or a slice(I will reiterate SLICE). I went here for an event and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Came again and get a pizza and it was… just bad. The crust was tasteless and we asked for mushrooms and got them, from a can. I would have preferred being told they didn’t have any fresh mushrooms and I would have added something else. I would visit again, just not with the intention of eating pizza.

This was a first time visit for our group and Id say probably was closer to 4 star, the detractions being the really abbreviated bar menu,(which was especially painful when seeing the huge really tempting pizzas going out to tables on the floor, on our visit no tables were open, only the bar) and that one holer restroom, the plumbing fixtures need some serious cleaning or replacement. The beer and cider selection is great! I really like seeing more than one cider choice. The bartenders were all courteous and helpful. The crowd there was also a plus, varied and everyone having a great time. I and the rest of my group are looking forward to our next visit.

Worst bar service I’ve ever had. Visit one: a drunk bartender that just complained about how«no one supports his business», well isn’t that what we’re doing by coming into your establishment and giving you our money? Bartender is clearly intoxicated at 5 pm. Complained about business the entire hour+ that we were there, and served us a cardboard piece of pizza that I wouldn’t have eaten for FREE anywhere in my life. Didn’t ask us our names or anything ONCE. Waited 30+ minutes for a tab that had to be calculated on an iPad Square app, even though we were paying cash. One iPad for an entire bar. Guess calculators don’t work anymore. Visit two: bartender didn’t know what a «full bar» was. Said she couldn’t make anything for us because she didn’t know how. Waited another 5 – 10 minutes for a bartender to serve us. This was the manager and she was nice. Then she left to work on the improv show. Undermining of employees was done right in front of us by kitchen staff. Food on visit two was GREAT. But I was too much of a bother for the bartender to get me silverware. «It’s too busy», when three bartenders were standing around, and she went back to texting. So I got up, walked across the bar and got the silverware, that was all handle side down(gross). so I knew that the silverware I grabbed was probably touched by 100 people. Paper towels for napkins just sits on the dirty bar, so no sanitary napkins to use. Again, this food was good. This was the only positive part of the visit, aside from 2 minutes of service from the manager. Bar staff was SOLOUD during improv. For an hour we struggled to hear the show. we moved so we could hear. Then kitchen staff and bartenders continued to yell across the bar to each other. We literally heard maybe 30% of the show. Left extremely dissatisfied with service and maintenance of facilities. Oh yeah. And there’s only a Unisex bathroom. That was FILTHY! How this places passes health code inspections is beyond me. Will never spend another dime there.

Stumbled in this dive conveniently sandwiched along an impromptu beer crawl after Craft Brew Fest. Dollar jello shots were yummy, beer was cold, and the pizza was pretty damn good with the exception of the crust which simply wasn’t worth the stomach space when competing with cold delicious brew. Played a little pool, did some karaōke and the bartenders were great. I’d stumble back into this«substation’ again.

We stopped in here as part of a Jax beer hop session subsequent to the beer fest around the corner. We sand some karaōke, played some pool, drank some beers and even ordered a pizza. This place has it all, and easily accommodated our party of 5. Beer prices were OK, and the pizza was tasty. We even got one free beer with our Unilocal check in! We had a good time, and I’d gladly return when in Jax again. Side note for the owners, clean the felt on those pool tables. They were looking pretty rough and seemed as if they hadn’t been brushed in months.
