Dined at Mitchell’s Friday evening, Feb 12. Very disappointing. My entrée was way over cooked and dry. My wife’s entrée was over cooked and dry also. Furthermore her entrée, crabmeat stuffed flounder had a fishy and stale taste like it was freezer burned. We sent it back as it was inedible. She ordered a side of sesame sautéed spinach, and that tasted like the oil had been burned. Only with adding piles of butter could she eat it. We asked for real butter as what they served with warm bread was on recognizable. I awake for lime with my iced tea, but was served lemon. The final straw was their side of potatoes, just cooked, crushed redskins with no seasoning. What a cop out! Will not go there again

My husband and I went to Mitchell’s for our first anniversary tonight. I called the morning of and they were able to make a reservation for us for later than evening. The service was quick and the food was delicious. Mike was our server and he was very friendly and attentive to our needs. We will definetly be back for future special occasions!

Have been going here for my birthday/Father’s Day meals for a few years and it has always been great. However, this recent visit was drastically different. The service was good, but the food went downhill. I usually order fresh seafood, but opted for a seafood pasta dish instead(frutti di mare). I asked for no calamari, but they also decided to take out the mussels. The sauce did not quite go with the dish and was not that great. My wife and mother-in-law ordered chicken parm and the pasta was way overcooked and came out plain without any sauce on it. They both said it was not good. The only reason I gave it two stars was because our waiter was great and ended up getting a free dessert for my birthday. Unfortunately, I do not think we will come back since we can get a better meal at Cheesecake Factory and a much lower price.

They are a bit pricey, but the food and service is really good. I have never had a complain. I come often to get their fresh oysters.

I’ve been in Jacksonville since 1958…‘born and raised’ as they say. I’ve been to Mitchell’s many times. Always enjoyed the food quality. I had dinner tonight(December 28, 2015). I had a party of six who had all eaten there many times before. I was so taken aback by how far down the restaurant has gone since my last visit. I was apprehensive walking in at 7pm and it was deserted. The service was attentive but the food quality for the price was quite ridiculous. Upon arrival at home, I had to research why the change. I found that it is now owned by Landry Club, Inc. They have ‘raped’ what was once a very nice, consistent venue. So sad. Cannot go back. The $ 9 valet while free for The Capital Grille next door was disappointing, as well.

tl;dr: Trust all the other reviews saying this place will never serve you your food like I should have. My review can be very simple summed up as «Do Not Go Here!!» Absolutely pathetic«lunch» we had there with no communication from the staff at all despite me directly going up there and asking.(I’ll leave the activity of figuring out whether only being served appetizers in 2+ hours with zero updates from the kitchen can be considered lunch as an exercise to the reader) Let me be clear first, I absolutely appreciate the fact they are open on Christmas, were able to accommodate a reservation only 1 hour in advance on Christmas, and that our server was great to us. With all these points in their favor the party of 6 I arrived with were willing to overlook the very high price point and very average appetizers but it’s very hard to forgive not having entrees 2+ hours after walking in and still being hungry at 3PM. When we arrived everything was normal though the service was a little slow. As they told us they were one of two restaurants open on Christmas in the entire mall so things were bustling. The appetizers were a little slow but nothing ridiculous and our server took care of us. However, whoever brought the oysters to our table splashed the ice water underneath the oysters all over our table and a bit on the dress of one person in our group. No apologies, not even an acknowledgement that it happened! Of course our server hurriedly apologized for him but then he repeated the exact same thing(pouring slightly more water on the same person) when he removed the oysters from our table with not even a hint of sorry. If I was a bit more paranoid I’d think they were purposely trying to get us to leave(a hint we definitely should have taken with hindsight). Then nothing happened. I mean literally nothing. No entrees for after appetizers for over 90 minutes and we thought someone has to be coming to at least give us an estimate or something, but nope, nothing. Just our server who kept saying sorry and that he also has no idea what’s going on. Where’s the communication between anyone in this sorry excuse for a restaurant? I understand it’s slow, we expected it to be slow, but you can’t at least tell us how many tables are in front of us? Of course, several tables got their food in front of us despite us arriving earlier but I understand party size and cooking time and all those things so it didn’t bother us as much, but when 3PM rolls around and not a single person has gotten their food(there is a time and place to forget about serving a whole table at the same time and I would say 2+ hours after a table has sat down would be that time) *someone* should be doing some explanation. After I walked up to the front to ask for an estimate on our table they sent the guy who splashed water over one of our group to us and gave us the flippant«oh it’ll be ready in 5 minutes» non-answer. That was pretty much the last straw so we waited the courtesy 10 minutes and demanded our check with only appetizers.(and yes we still tipped our server despite not eating entrees cause we’re not assholes, no need to sink to their level, and it’s Christmas) If this was not Christmas I was definitely in the mood to cause a scene in that restaurant, I’ve never had a place so rudely treat one of my friends but while our Christmas lunch was ruined I figured there’s no reason to subject anyone else, who already has to suffer the fact they’re at this awful restaurant, to me screaming at their front of house who’s probably not responsible for their manager/executive cook’s complete, utter, and thorough incompetence. And no, of course they didn’t comp anything for our terrible experience, it’s silly if that thought even popped into your head. My suggestion, which I’ll repeat, is go anywhere else but here. You’re in Florida, you should be able to find a better seafood restaurant just by closing your else and walking 50 paces in any direction.

Mitchell’s was great! We made a reservation for Friday night which was a good idea because it was packed! They have a lot of good options on their menu and the calamari appetizer was delicious. I had the Seafood Americana which was also great! I don’t think that I would have regretted ordering anything on he menu. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Contrary to several bad reviews, our food was our in good time. Highly recommended for a nice night out and we’ll definitely be back.

Nice spot, good drinks and selections, excellent service. Make sure to indulge in the stone crab. Food was great but portion to price ratio is kinda eh but I’d return.

Not a big fan on Michell’s fish market. There’s not much variety on the menu or for the drinks. And too pricey. It comes as a last resort restaurant if j. Alexander’s is too busy.

This is an excellent restaurant I run a business and take my sales team and other associates there on a regular basis to celebrate successes. The ribeye at Mitchells is second to none this last time I had the grouper blackened and would eat it again and of course the desserts are decadent and sinful. If you don’t eat at Mitchells you have missed a treat

Went when not busy, and service was way too slow, drinks are very over priced, We ordered three apps to share, and only one was good. The scallop’s I ordered for main course were the size of Cheerios that sat in milk too long, and $ 2.50 for one oyster is outrageous. Wait staff was nice, and décor is nice too. First time here, and last.

I rarely give a 1 star so if I do it has to be the worst experience. This was my boyfriend and myself second time trying to eat here and it was even worst than the first time. Now the first time we went and was seated no one ever came out to even serve us. So we left. The last time we went was the icing on the cake. We went on a Wednesday evening and it was pretty packed for a Wednesday. We were seated the hostess was nice and our waitress was even nice. She came back with bread and our drinks. Bread was fresh and hot. We ordered a crab cake which wasn’t hot. Definitely seemed it was sitting out for awhile. Then we started waiting on our food. We were being told it should be coming shortly at least every 15 minutes. We were offered soup and salad which no one wanted. My boyfriend tried to give another chance but I was pissed and very hungry so the next time we seen the waitress we asked for the check for the drinks and crab cake. She said the food was up but we still wanted the check. She got her manager and she came to the table. She was a very sweet lady glad she was honest. She even tried to get us to take our food to go and everything was on the house. We declined because of how this was our second time coming and still was not satisfied. We literally just wanted the check. But the waitress came back and tried to let us take the food we still declined and she said we we didn’t have to worry about the tab. I love seafood and would like to at least try as many as possible, but this was crossed of the list because I just haven’t had good experiences. I was a little shocked because this is part of Landry’s restaurant chains and was the first one we left twice without eating at all. We have been to Chart House and loved it so much we have gift cards for them. And go to Bubba Gump Shrimp whenever we are out of town. But Mitchell’s seem like a nice place, WE just wouldn’t be going back.

This is the WORST place you could«attempt» to eat at. Emphasis on attempt. I came to Mitchell’s a year ago and had to walk out because after we were seated nobody came to serve us. A year later we get seated and served but it took over an hour to ALMOST get the food. We ordered the expensive ass crab cake that came out lukewarm at best. If u get past the fact that only God knows how long the crab cake was sitting before we got it, it was pretty decent. I wasnt really impressed with the bread that they give you to start with, but when you sit for how long we sat it becomes tolerable. The server tried to offer us some soup for our wait. Who wants soup when you are craving lobster? We declined. She continuously let us know the food would be out shortly. It never came. Finally when we told them we need to leave and we wanted the check, thats when everyone wanted to be super nice and say the food is right up. We politely turned them down. The one positive thing i will say is that the manager told us we can take the food with us. They practically insisted but I was fed up. It was a nice gesture but my moral code would not allow me to accept. For a place like this to be so expensive, but yet so crappy with its service is mind-boggling. You couldnt pay me to make a third ATTEMPT at eating here.

I wanted to start out by saying the bartender was awesome! Bright and cheery. That was the best thing about this restaurant. Her and the bread which was warm buttery sourdough! I got the Mitchell trio. It tasted like absolutely nothing was seasoned. I almost never use table salt on any of my meals but I had to grab the shaker. The crabcake was ok, but no real flavor just crispy. I got double shrimp instead of the salmon, which I was charged extra for. The shrimp were so overcooked they were just rubber. They were supposed to be garlic shrimp but had absolutely no seasoning. I even asked if there was some kind of sauce I could use, and I love just shrimp. The broccoli was actually seasoned a little with salt and pepper. I asked for the sesame spinach but what I got was a steamed wad of just plan spinach. It was the first thing I tried so I did tell the server and she got me the correct sesame spinach which was good. I have never had such a disappointing seafood meal. I had really high hopes for this restaurant the pictures looked so good. I actually didn’t know what to do or tell the server. I’ve never not liked an entire meal before so I just didn’t say anything and ate it. With no drink and just the meal and tip my bill came to $ 30.

My wife had a wonderful meal here on a Sunday evening. It was not very crowded. Not really happy to pay $ 6 for valet parking… But it was drizzling. We sat in the bar area and took advantage of the happy hour specials on appetizers and drinks. My wife and I split two entrees… I ordered the rib eye and she had the twin Lobster tails. So we each made our own surf and turf dinner. The steak was cooked perfect… And was huge. The Lobster tails were fresh water, and a little small… But tasty. We did the 7 layer carrot cake… OMG! It was ridiculously HUGE! And $ 10 for a slice. We took most of it home. Service was great. Food was great. It was a tad pricey in my opinion… But I feel it was a good meal for the money. A couple can easily spend a $ 100 on a dinner.

My parents came in town to visit, and we decided to have a Valentine’s Day Lunch instead of dinner to beat the rush. We went to Copelands, but they were crowded to the max. We went to the St. Johns Town Center and stumbled upon this restaurant, it had everything each of us had a taste for. The food is AMAZING!!! Everything was fresh, and presented well. The hostess, servers, and managers were also great, they tended to our every need. I will definitely mark this as one of my top choices for dining here in Jacksonville. The food is SUPERB, I have truly fallen in love with this place. I am soooo thankful Copelands was crowded, we would not have discovered this jewel today… Two thumbs up and two big toes:-)

I was invited as a +1 to a wine dinner at Mitchell’s. It’s one of what they called their ‘national wine dinners’: Italy Uncorked. We also learned this specific restaurant offers additional dinners(if you’re on their e-mail list) apart from what the chain is doing nationally. We got to choose our own seats, which is definitely a new experience for this diner. Upon choosing our seats, we were treated to a glass of Prosecco(which was continuously refilled until the dinner began). The menu for the evening included a trio of crostini, a butternut squash tortellaci and a sea bass entrée. All the dishes were plated & presented beautifully. No one dish — other than dessert(Sugar Addicts Anonymous Member) — stood out as «Oh My Goodness, I must get that again». For the foodies that I know are interested, here’s the full menu break down: ~ Appetizer ~ Trio of Crostini with Olive Tapenade, Fresh Tomato and Lobster paired with La Marca Prosecco ~Salad ~ Butternut Squash Tortellaci with Maine Lobster, Brown Butter, Sage and Smoked Bacon paired with Da Vinci Pinot Grigio ~ Entrée ~ Pan Roasted Sea Bass with Cannellini Beans, Spinach, Tomato and Basil Aioli paired with Brancaia«Tre» Red Blend ~ Dessert ~ Almond Cake with Almond Brittle and Mocha Anglaise paired with Italian Espresso Martini featuring New Amsterdam Vodka I do want to go back & experience the restaurant for myself. I know that large dinners with pre-planned menus aren’t the best way to judge a restaurant; they just offer a taste of what the restaurant has(pun intended). I was happy to see that they did have some local beers on draft. For a first visit I wasn’t super-de-duper impressed, but I wasn’t disappointed either.
