Best pizza ever !!! Never had pizza in Florida that’s so good. I’m from Chicago home of the deep dish. And I think you all will love this place.

So just found out they sell shrimp and grits here on sat and sun menu. Was shocked that a pizza place could get this right and not just right but prob top ten in area. Although my favorite is prob mojo no.4, these guys beat out the brick in shrimp and grits. These are made with smoked Gouda which really brings out the flavor. Also expected small shrimp but they did not hold back and served full size local shrimp. Honestly was impressed and hope they keep it on their menu. PIZZA is top notch too if you didn’t already know.

I’m giving this review for my not too tech savvy parents. My parents dined here this afternoon and they ordered a pizza. Their server came out with a slightly too crispy pizza, but it was still delicious and my parents didn’t complain and enjoyed the pizza nonetheless. The guy who brought the pizza to the table explained that the pizza was left in for a bit too long and that they already sent in a new order of the same pizza for them to take home for free. I saw the leftover pizza and it was barely burned honestly! My parents didn’t even realize that it was too crispy!
I truly appreciate the extra steps management took to make sure my parents got a great quality pizza. They went above and beyond and were completely honest even when there were no complaints on our end.

Food took forever to come out but it was good as usual. It wasn’t busy at all but it was a 2 hour luncheon.
Mushroom club is really good!

I live in the neighborhood, and I frequent Mellow during football season to watch games in their excellent bar. This is certainly the best place in the neighborhood to catch a football game. For Jags games, Mellow even plays the audio over their loud speakers, and there is always a fun crowd. With tons of high quality TVs, this is the best sports bar in Riverside or Avondale.
Mellow has a vast beer selection and always something on special from Intuition. Beer prices are pretty in line with similar places in the neighborhood. The pizza, while pricey, is consistently good and fresh.
The main reason I wrote this review and rated it so highly is the service. This place is clearly run by professionals, and whether you are sitting at the bar, a high top, or in the dining area, you are certain to get excellent service. I sat at the bar on New Years Day (probably a bad day for service in general), and all three bar tenders checked in constantly and kept my cup full, and when my pizza arrived, multiple staff members checked in with me to make sure I was satisfied with the order. Other restaurants owners should come here for a clinic on how to treat patrons.

I picked up two large pizzas for my family here. We absolutely love the food but I just can’t justify paying $ 50 for two pizzas when most other pizza joints would charge less than half that price. I’ll come back but it won’t be for pizza.

Last night we enjoyed a delicious Thai pizza from this Mellow Mushroom location. If you come at a high traffic time, be sure to check the parking lot behind the building as it offers a few additional spaces. This location offers a huge bar area, tons of seating and does not feel cluttered at all like the Tinseltown location does. The service was good and the Thai pizza was great. As always I find the crust to be one of the best parts of a Mellow Mushroom Pizza.

Came here with a friend. She’s never been here although I’ve been to the Southside location. But, I love the ambiance here. Feels like a get-​awat as if we’re not even in Jacksonville. Our server Laura was amazing. Very understanding of children and makes sure you like your food. I’m very picky on how I like my food and always make adjustments to the menu and she was so patient & helpful and knows the menu real well. Please come here if you need a getaway and want to bring your kids.

I love mellow mushroom pizza. It is hands down my favorite pizza in the world. I mean to the extent of the pizza is soo good they could probably mess up in just about any way other than the food and id still come back. that is the ONLY pizza I’ll actually eat the crust. usually im all eww crust ew pizza. not here, no siry. This place is my krptonite. This is the place my husband takes me when im having a bad day. this is the present he would get me for an appology gift.ikr.smart guy. The only problems I have with this specific mellow mushroom is the wait time to eat. over an hour guys.really.that’s no 30 minutes more like an hour and thirty minutes!!! I don’t like that I was told it was a thirty minute wait to be sitting there for 3xs that.
The waiter was nice but the hostess had giant hickeys on her neck that were very noticeable and very tacky. especially in a family restaurant where kids can see her «booboos». The food was excellent despite the wait which is the only thing that brings me back.parking.sucks.waiting.sucks.service.ehh not terrible just I like my drink to be filled. food yummm. Décor awesome. So next time I’ll hop out the car let the hubby drive around for a few and take one to go!

All in all I LOVE mellow mushroom. the food will be spot on. it’s the service that is hit or miss;)

A vibrant and fun restaurant. I know I’m in the minority in that pizza isn’t a favorite food of mine. There’s a lot of choices on the menu though so finding a yummy dish isn’t an issue. I’ve never had a bad experience and the staff is always casually friendly. Every time I’ve come here, I get a male waiter so that’s a definite plus in my book.
Perhaps if my mudslide wasn’t so virginal, I’d be less stingy with my stars. The pizza was a 4, service a 4, atmosphere 4.5 but my drink was a 1 at best. Flavorless and severely lacking in Khalua, Bailey’s Irish cream and vodka. You’d think that with these three ingredients I’d be sliding into a little buzz but it tasted like milky ice. Disappointing and borderline infuriating.
Still though, a fun place to have a casual meal and a great place to bring your pooch along for the ride.

First off there is something magical about the pizza dough. I can’t put my finger on it but it is just right for me. This was my first Mellow Mushroom in Jacksonville but my third overall. We came because of a groupon deal we recently purchased. I really enjoyed the Avondale location as it is contemporary and clean! Huge bar area and lots of space to spread out so you’re not on top of everyone. Looking back I would avoid the section we sat in next time. We were seated towards the back of the fire truck room towards the bathrooms. Not the best view to take in the cool ambiance this restaurant has to offer. Just the same there is a pretty good sized fire truck there for the children to play on! It did get a little loud at times because of it though. No worries, I was there to eat pizza and boy did I! We ordered two. The House Special and the Holy Shiitake Pie. Both were great and very different! The House Special was filled with lots of veggies and meat and was filling and full of traditional flavor you expect on an everything pizza. My favorite by far however was the Holy Shiitake. It had a nice warm garlic aioli sauce drizzled on top and full of a variety of mushrooms and caramelized onions. The flavor was only bolstered by a small drizzle of black truffle oil. Yum. I will certainly be back for this one!
Also I really want to try the brunch they advertise. I heard the egg dishes are to die for. Can’t wait!

The other Mellows in Jacksonville can take note, as this is by far the best one. Riverside and Avondale have a TON of great local pizza places, so I normally don’t go to Mellow. But they are the only people around with Sunday Ticket, and I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it considering I was there for around 5 hours.
Location is central, right in the heart of the Shoppes of Avondale. Especially during prime brunch time on Sunday, it can be difficult to park. I opted to just Über and bypass that completely, and I recommend it. The building itself is beautiful, with a dining room reminiscent of a normal Mellow but also an expansive bar and patio area letting in plenty of light, tastefully designed.
Service was also great. Our mimosas were always full, and even though we obviously were getting refills, she would stop by even when we didn’t need a refill just to make sure we were happy and had all needs met. Checked in just enough to be super helpful without being overbearing.
Drinks were obviously good — nothing to complain about with bottomless mimosas. Once 2pm came around, my girlfriend and I switched to beer, and Mellow is obviously a great place for that as well. Had an Intuition session that I had never tried and it was very good.
Food is the only thing holding it back from a ⁵⁄₅. Mellow’s food IS good, and it IS way better than any other national chain. But for the price point it just isn’t worth it. Obviously we all have different opinions, but I think Carmine’s is miles better and at a more affordable price. Like I said, it isn’t bad, but it is reallyyyy pricy for pizza that is just average when compared to the local joints. But there are 16 weeks left in the season, so I’m sure I’ll be back.

I went to their brunch with a friend and it was super delicious. I had only been to the Richmond, VA location and hadn’t had their brunch before. Our waitress was really nice and my cocktail was awesome (Perfect Margarita). I loved the gouda grits and my frittata was delicious. A really nice space, great food, and great service.
As noted below, there was a sick customer at the bar and we had to leave earlier than we would have otherwise.

I am a Mello Mushroom lover from way back! Every so often we are blessed with this wonderful pizza at work from a great drug representative. Their pizza her is the best in town. We had a house special pizza tonight which literally had everything on it, all the veggies and the meats. Every super fresh and flavorful. A bit expensive for pizza but worth every calorie!

Update
After my last horrible experience here, I was contacted through Unilocal and asked to email the manager regarding the matter, which I did. As of today, I still have not received any response. I have not visited again until today, when we stopped by to order a pizza to go. Unless I hear from the general manager, I will not ever recommend this restaurant, nor will I bring guests as I used to do in the past on a regular basis. I supported them and was very excited for them to come to Avondale, but I cannot believe how poorly the situation has been handled, and feel my patronage and support is not of any concern. Extremely disappointed, only used for takeout as a last resort. The only reason it is 2 stars rather than 1, is that the pie we ordered to go arrived in the time frame promised.

Nice atmosphere with great service. Their pizzas are the best. Nice beer selection as well.

I enjoy Mellow Mushroom. They have a good Happy Hour. The food and service is consistently good. And this particular location is in my opinion the best one they have in Jacksonville as far as layout and aesthetics go. While parking can be a pain in this area of town, MM does have their own little parking lot right behind the build for customers only so always check that out first.

So I’ve been to this mellow mushroom location a bunch of times now and a review is overdue. I have never had any problems with the service – everyone has always been very friendly and helpful, both waitstaff and bartenders. Food usually comes out in a pretty timely manner as well.
I love the pizza – especially the one loaded with mushrooms, it’s my favorite. Build your own salads are also awesome. I always put fresh mozzy cheese and meatballs on top and lots of veggies.
Awesome beer selection and mixed drinks too.
Overall mellow is really good – not a 5 star place (I reserve 5 stars for the places that really go above and beyond), but on my regular rotation. Plus, 10% off with Unilocal check in is awesome!

I think I may have OVER SPENT. I will do better next time I go. It’s an awesome restaurant so I am definitely going back but I will watch my spending. Delicious hot & fresh meal. Pizza was filling, nice slices. Wonderful, attentive waiter. Contemporary dining room. Clean rest rooms (ALWAYS A PLUS FOR ME!)

This has to be the flagship location for this chain. Located in historic Avondale, it brings a breath of fresh air to the area. Modern décor for any restaurant, let along a pizza joint.
The food is fresh and delicious. Enjoy the large variety of local brews on tap as well.
They also have a couch area, where I promptly beat my husband in Connect Four. Definitely give this cool place a try!
