Excellent every time! I have been 3x now and this last time I got the Jimmy Hula(Steak and fries — allergic to seafood so I didn’t get shrimp) and the Wipeout(pork, pickles, topped with mac and cheese). AMAZING! I will have to post photos next time I go. Great service too. Love sitting outside.

I’ve got to be honest, I did not expect the fish tacos to be so freakin’ good! Jimmy Hula’s loads up their tacos to the max.(I love large portions). And the tortillas have a slightly crisp texture on the outside, solidifying a strong barrier for the fresh ingredients. The Voodoo and the Baja tacos had excellent flavors. I enjoyed the fried fish and the blackened fish, respectively. Mama’s tacos ain’t gonna cut it here! Well done, JH. Fire Roasted Avocado FTW! Topped with Sriracha and queso fresco. Order this appetizer stat. You’ll be wondering why you’ve been missing out on this monumental feat for so long. Creamy and spicy deliciousness. All of our food was wonderful, but the service was struggling. The counter girls weren’t knowledgeable about the menu and it made our order almost painful. Other than that, the neighborhood, surf-themed bar gets two giant thumbs up.

Food was great. Fish tacos that can’t be beat. Price is affordable. Beer selection is a mixture of local and domestic beers. Went home happy with a full stomach.

Came here not to long ago with my husband, I’ve been wanting to check it out for a while now. The décor is really cool and fits into their theme. My husband order a burger(not sure which one) with coleslaw on top.(It’s his weakness). I ordered a chicken street taco and a grilled shrimp taco. With queso and salsa on the side. My husband enjoyed the burger. My chicken taco was delicious, I added some queso and a little bit of the mango salsa from my shrimp taco. It was to die for. The shrimp on the shrimp taco was weird, it was most likely frozen– I wasn’t a fan. I’m used to the big fresh stuff. I ended up coming back and tried it blackened and still wasn’t a fan of the texture. Granted it still is a very good taco– just not one of the better ones I’ve had. The staff is lovely and always greet you when you walk in. It’s a little confusing, we just walked up to the counter but I noticed that some people sat down hoping to get their order taken. They have a nice outside patio and a garage like door that they open up to it. I recommend stopping by!

Place is hit and miss. It feels and taste’s most of the time like processed frozen cisco truck food. Environment can be a lot of fun. Live music and it’s and indoor outdoor place at a decent location. Portions are good sized and staff is friendly. My only knock really is that I just don’t feel it’s the freshest place.

The moment we walked in we were immediately greeted with a girl who works there and who handed is menus and told us to take our time looking and to walk up and order when ready. Once we placed our order we sat and waited for a short time to get our food. Which was delicious. Tortillas were nicely toasted to keep from unfolding and allowing the stuffing to fall out. Everyone there was over the top friendly and was more than happy to answer our questions and get is refills and what not.

I’ve been a three times and each time it’s gotten a little worse. Like a lot of people have mentioned, the food was cold. I got the Baja pork bowl. The meat was tepid and the rice was cold. I mean cold. My wife ordered a burger. When it arrived she discovered it didn’t have onions on it as she had ordered. We tried to get a waitresses attention but after a few efforts she just ate it and told the cashier about it on the way out. There were a lot of cooks standing around doing nothing in the kitchen. Waitresses didn’t move much either. They never came back to ask us if we needed anything. To bad. I don’t think we’ll bother coming back.

First experience was extremely positive! There are many choices for toppings on burgers and tacos. It’s casual dining. You order at the counter and they bring it to you. There is an excellent craft brew selection as well. We sat down and within 10 minutes we were eating. The burger I had was topped with guacamole, Swiss cheese and bacon and on marble rye. Very tasty! The star was the sweet potato fries and dipping sauce. My husband created his own burger. Both satisfied. We were checked on multiple times by the staff and we were allowed to linger after our meal. The atmosphere is laid back and comfortable. We will be back

So when I visited this location I went a little overboard and ordered 5 different fish tacos. Let’s just say they were all so good I finished them all!

By far the greatest taco spot in the area if not in all of Jacksonville! Great food, atmosphere and great prices with the most friendly staff from open to close. You can’t go wrong with any of the tacos on the menu. Above average beer selection too!

Let’s start with the atmosphere, this isn’t a sit down restaurant like most would assume ‚. It’s kinda like how Panera is, you order your food at the register and wait for it to come. Is super cute and beachy inside. Mostly all high school kids working behind the desk here from my previous experiences. Food is pretty good, my favorite is the Macaroni and cheese w bbq pork taco, I forget the exact name but it’s great . I love mac n cheese and have tried it at any place I possibly can. So the macaroni and cheese here isn’t super creamy like at soul food bistro but it is identical to the Mac and cheese at kfc and captain d’s. Literally taste the exact taste in my opinion. It’s not bad but it’s not my fav. You get a small choice of sides. Most dishes come with chips… WITHOUT salsa,(they don’t tell u until you get ur food)…salsa is extra. A notice that the chips don’t come with salsa would be nice for customers to know before they sit down. Who likes chips w no salsa? And who likes to interupt the meal to get salsa… That was the one thing that made me think seriously? I do still like the place tho. Prices are pretty reasonable. I’m sure I’ll come back to visit soon.

Seeing that we will have a Jimmy Hula’s nearer to our home soon, we decided to give it a try while in the area. Glad we did as we had a great meal, at a reasonable price. We tried 3 different tacos during this visit. The Voodoo fish taco, which you can have fried, blackened, or grilled. I tried it fried, and it was nice and crispy fish, with a pineapple mango salsa. Hubby tried the Wipeout taco, and from the first bite kept repeating how wonderful it tasted. It has steak. shrimp. fries. jack cheese. salsa. avocado. & Baja sauce. Our daughter had the Johnny Utah, which has smoked pork. bbq sauce. mac n cheese. pickles. bacon. & scallion. The pork was tender and very tasty. We all shared the Mojo fries, and I could have eaten that sauce on just about anything. The fries were hot and crispy, and along with the tacos, we had a great meal. Can’t wait for the one in our area to open. I think it may be a frequent stop for a satisfying meal.

Oh I get why some people are put off by Jimmy Hula’s, but if you go with the right expectation, then you will really enjoy the experience most of all, the food is really unique and certainly worth the visit. Expectation1: this is a counter serve restaurant(think Disney World). Enter the doors and look for the cash register, this is where you order. Expectation 2: Your food will not come out at the same time, so don’t be offended(think Hawkers). We had a party of six and the was maybe four minutes between the first person and the sixth person receiving their food. Expectation 3: There is a distinct between the temperature of the meat(hot) and the condiments(cold) on the tacos. It is a little unsettling, but it works. However the overall process makes the dish warm. Expectation 4: Service is friendly but not particularly efficient. My don and I split a burger and repeatedly asking for an extra basket just got no results. Expectation 4: Order zucchini fries with more zucchini fries. Yes, you will thank me later. Expectation 5: Order extra sauce from the start. More zucchini fry sauce, more sriracha sauce, and if you like really hot order habanero sauce. There, set your expectations and you will enjoy a fun and different menu.

Nope. Really don’t know if they had an off day but the hype did not live up. First of all, I don’t love a place that doesn’t take Amex, but I can look passed it. Sure, fees, but I’m less likely to visit in general. The girl that took my ordered was nice. No complaints with the staff. I ordered two tacos and sweet potato fries. Aka I had two massive tacos filled with 90% shredded lettuce and sweet potato fries. Cold bacon. Cold chicken. Don’t get me wrong — both meats were cooked, but they had clearly been sitting out for a long time before served. I barely touched the tacos and only ate the sweet potato fries. Not even remotely impressed.

Since our book club has recently turned into«Daisy and Kristina want to try a new restaurant» club, we used it as an excuse to check out Jimmy Hula’s, a place I’d had bookmarked on Unilocal for a while now. After our experience, I’m completely shocked at all the positive reviews. First, the good. The staff was friendly and the zucchini fries and sweet potato fries were very good. The vibe is fun, sort of like a more beachy Tijuana Flats. Unfortunately that is where the positives end. I ordered a BLAT and a wipeout taco and zucchini fries. My friend ordered just before me and also got two tacos and sweet potato fries. We sat down and her tacos came out super quickly. Our fries followed pretty fast after that. Like I said, zucchini and sweet potato fries were both delicious and piping hot. Then we waited. I saw a few tables who ordered after we did get baskets of fries. I figured that when I got my tacos they’d be super fresh and hot, like the fries were. Wrong. I started with the wipeout. The flavors were good but the fries, beef, and shrimp were all room temperature. Then I tried the BLAT. This one was easily 80% lettuce. When I got to the bacon, it was also cold. Her tacos were more of the same. If the meat was all pre-cooked and room temperature, why the wait? There are way too many places in Jax serving good tacos to waste a meal at Jimmy Hulu’s. I had big expectations but this was an incredibly disappointing experience.

Jimmy Crack’d Corn and I DON’T CARE! IDKW, the workers felt that I am the only person ordering corn? Kind of funny but slightly annoyed. oh well. I’ve been here twice in one week. I really like that this place is located in-town, for us «townies»! All jokes aside, I LOVETHISPLACE! I’m really diggin’ that beach, island vibe. I’ve tried, what seems to be, EVERYTHING? TACOS: Everything is good. I like that the flour tortilla is slightly toasted. It just gives the tacos a great texture. APPS/SIDES: So you’ve seen the movie«Nacho Libre», right? THATCORNLOOKEDSOGOOD! I had to try it here. Grilled corn with Cotija mexican cheese with paprika and cilantro. MOJO fries and Sweet potatoe fries were also tasty. BURGER: The Aloha burger comes with double patties and a grilled pineapple slice. It was tasty but the bun was not ideal. It falls apart as soon as you bite into it. SERVICE: friendly and prompt.

Fantastic dining experience! Never been to a Jimmy Hula’s but had heard rave reviews about it and I was not disappointed! Loved the island atmosphere and the fast fresh food. Had a Vodoo taco(which is their best seller) which was amazing and an Aloha burger which had teriyaki, grilled pineapple and cheese on the burger.(Wasn’t sure I’d like pineapple on a burger but it was delish). We sampled the onion rings which were thick cut, crispy and as good as it gets. The zucchini fries were great and we loved the dipping sauce with it. For dessert we tried the cookie dough flautas which were unbelievable — it was cookie dough put into the center of a piece of dough and flash fried so the outside was crispy and the cookie dough was warm and melted. We were so full but ate it all anyway! Honestly, everything tasted fantastic and we will definitely be back. We were there on a Friday night and they had live music(the guy was great), an outside patio which was full and the music playing for all to hear. You order and pay at the register and they deliver the order to the table. The wait time was negligible and although the restaurant was busy the service was excellent and the attentive owners were on hand and welcoming. Excellent selection of beers and wine too. An unusual hybrid of fast food and full dining experience that is definitely needed. Very reasonably priced too! Well done.

«Oh yeah! I can definitely see us coming back here!» We all gushed as we inhaled our amazing tacos. Jimmy Hula’s has captured my heart and my taste buds by having the *best* and most *affordable* Fish Tacos I’ve had since«Son of a Fish» closed down in St. Augustine! The tacos were packed to the brim to the point where they were almost over flowing! To utilize this«problem,» Jimmy Hula serves the tacos on a bed of tortilla chips to catch the overflow and to treat the diner with nachos afterwards. Now that’s what I’m talking about! Our favorite taco of the evening was the Killer! The fish was flaky and lightly fried and complimented by the crunchy cabbage followed by the heat of the«Haberno Boss Sauce.» Another stand out was the Voodoo taco! The Voodoo had pineapple salsa and Voodoo Sauce. The flavor combination was wonderful and we really liked the sweetness the Voodoo sauce provided. The only taco we had tried that evening that didn’t knock out socks off was the Baja taco. It was just a little bland compared to the other tacos we tried. Along with the Tacos, we also ordered Mojo fries which were quickly devoured! We realized the title«Mojo» derived from the lime and salt coating treatment of the fries verses the dipping sauce it came with. However, the Lava Sauce was a great addition for the fries too! My head was reeling from the LIGHTINGFAST service as well! We ordered and found a seat and literally two minutes later they were bringing out our dinner! We couldn’t BELIEVEIT! The only negative thing I can say about Jimmy Hula’s is the fact they do not have a location closer to me!

I’m impressed. I have to admit I walked in and didn’t want to like it. I couldn’t figure out the theme– Mexican? Cajun? American? I’m still not sure so I went with beachy. Since I was sure I wasn’t going to like it we ordered a lot of food to sample. My only complaint about the menu was Pepsi products. I really don’t like Pepsi products. It makes me not choose restaurants sometimes. There needs to be a sign guiding you to the register as we were not the only ones who walked in and tried to figure out if we waited to be seated or what. But we figured it out. I ordered the Mr Myagee salad that had cabbage, tomatoes, carrots and mushrooms with ginger dressing. It was really good. I wish they would have given me the option of adding chicken but even without it I enjoyed the salad. The taste was fresh and it was the perfect size. My husband tried the Cuban Spring rolls. What a neat concept. It was a Cuban sandwich wrapped up in a little Spring roll instead of bread and fried. I had a bite and it was quite tasty. He also tried the Cajun fries that came with the little dipping sauce. The fries were very good but the dipping sauce was just okay. I would eat the fries alone. He tried the banging beef taco. It was good but we both agreed that there was entirely too much onion. The taste overpowered the rest of the taco. Next time we’re going to see if they can make it without onion because that taco had a lot of potential. Surprisingly to me, the best thing of the night was a killer fish taco with the blackened fish. Oh! My! Goodness! I don’t even care for fish but that was so tasty and delicious! So… It was a soft opening and they’re still trying to work out the kinks but I was quite impressed. If they get Wi-Fi my husband will use it as his once a week lunch spot that’s closer to our house. We will definitely be back. I only hope they change to Coke products! You’re doing yourself a disservice if you don’t run in and try it.

I am so glad Jimmy Hula’s is finally open and right around the corner from my house! I’ve had my eye on it for a while now. I stopped by for lunch on Saturday and tried 3 tacos and an appetizer. I enjoyed my food so much I had to come back the next day for more, this time bringing my husband along. I will definitely be back… multiple times a week!
