This is not even close to NYPASTRAMI. It is more Like a cross between Boars Head and Subways Pastrami when they had it. It is not Katz Deli in N.Y. OR the now out of business Rascal House in Miami quality of Pastrami. They have just a one bite Guarantee to get your money back but it takes more than a few bites to figure out that you got taken. They do not make their own Pastrami or Corn Beef any more and even their bread they stopped making because it comes out of a bag with some other companies name on it. They seem to be into Franchising now and this is just become another Franchise location. Plus the prices are high for such poor quality.

When they first opened it was fantastic… couldn’t get enough! Love the attitudes, ambiance and definitely the food! NOW, the attitude has changed. Opens at 8 but staff showed up at 8:15. Wanted breakfast sandwiches, NO kaiser rolls from the company? Go buy some?! Had it on toast, food is mediocre, staff is definitely lacking!!! If this was my first time, I would Not have returned or told my friends it was a must go place to eat!!! Please bring back the previous guy that was here at the beginning! It made everything enjoyable!

This place is expensive compared to what you can get anywhere else. at around $ 12 for a «whole» sandwich I expected to be big enough to be cut in half for another meal, but it’s average at best. Flavors are there but I feel like it’s distinct enough for me to go back here.

I was in the Mandarin area today(new location off old st. Aug road) and needed a bite to eat with my mom. Spotted the Gandolfo’s Deli sign and turned in. After walking in we were told it was a soft opening for training & VIPs. They had a limited menu but we were welcome to enjoy a lunch on the house. They had a limited menu for the day but we tried the«Little»(use that term lightly) Italy deli sandwich and potato salad. The sandwich was awesome! I loved the bread. Crunchy crust and perfect for a deli sandwich. Everything on the sandwich was fresh and flavorful. And the potato salad… Sooo good. Potatoes were perfectly cooked. They used a lot of dill too which was new for me but I’ll definitely need to change up my potato salad recipe from now on. I really, really liked this place and will definitely go back as a paying customer! I think they truly bring something new to the area.

I just had a pastrami reuben and was not too thrilled with it. For some reason the outside of the«rye» bread was toasted but the rest of the bread was soft and not hot at all. I would have figured that the pastrami would have been heated on a grill since they have one but it was put in the microwave. That just makes everything wet and greasy which it was. I personally for the price and the service will not be back. This is in no way a“New York Delicatessen” like they say they are.

Well say the sandwich is really good the people working there. Are super super nice it’s a little high in price but I do think it’s pretty good for my first time. It’s pretty flavorful.

The sandwiches here are a good quality and service is quick. We have tried the cowboy which is delicious chicken with bacon and bbq sauce. Also what was on the previous menu«The Liberty» which is pastrami with marinated mushrooms and swiss cheese. They were so kind to make this sandwich twice now even though it is not on the current menu. Very flavorful. The bread is fresh made so that helps all the sandwiches taste delicious. I had to try the Reuben, albeit the turkey Reuben and it was also very delicious, though a little pricey for the size of the sandwich. The pasta salad is a really good choice for a side dish, with fresh veges and a very flavorful dressing. The sour cream potato salad is ok but the regular potato salad is better. The French onion soup is not bad but the roasted red pepper with gouda cheese soup is the dish that tipped this review over from a 3 star to a 4 star.

It’s not a bad place. The sandwiches are pretty good. There have been a few complaints on here about the portion sizes. I don’t see the issue. The sandwiches are stacked high depending on the type you get. Obviously the more ingredients — the bigger the sandwich. I’ve come here quite a few times and I will continue to. The only issue I really have is perhaps the price point. It is a little steep for my taste. I feel like I could get a meal of equal value for a better deal. But when there’s a deal on Groupon I always make sure to stop in.

Went for lunch not impressed at all. Overpriced sandwiches. Pastrami tasted like generic subway meat. I thought they were from NY? Wife had turkey sandwich it was ok. But for $ 23.00 I’d rather go to publix. Very disappointed! !! Will not be back.

Went here because of a really good groupon deal. The service was good, and the food was good/very good. But the size of the sandwich certainly did not warrant the price. I got the«taxi driver» which is pastrami on sourdough– with double meat– and it cost me almost $ 14. If I was actually in ny id be okay with that, but I’m not okay with paying that in Jacksonville fl. Size of the sandwich was extremely average. On a bright note, the ingredients on my wife’s sandwich and my sandwich tasted extremely fresh, but the price point is just too high.

Gandolfo’s New York Deli. With a name like that, I expected a mean, no frills sandwich, piled high with the works, leading me to a pleasantly unapologetic food coma. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case. And I generally don’t write negatively(see my reviews). But for $ 13 and change, consumers need to know ahead of time that this deli isn’t as authentic as it may appear. When you advertise a sandwich as normal and large, you’d expect the large to be humongous. Something you can’t finish in one sitting. The large was nothing more than a normal sized sandwich. The pastrami and corned beef were fine. No more, no less. I asked for spicy mustard and received regular mustard. The best part of the sandwich was the bread, which actually threw me off because it was marbled rye. Not the traditional bread of choice for a pastrami sandwich. My girlfriend ordered the Ebbets Field with no mushrooms and received mushrooms. It wasn’t busy for this mistake to occur. It’s just a lack of attention to detail. I appreciate what Gandolfo’s is going for. All things New York does hit home for many Florida folk, including me. But if you’re marketing yourself as a New York deli, you better make sure the food is up to par. The dirty, unbussed tables for the duration of our visit didn’t help the cause either. Again, I may be ranting. But this is fully warranted. I said to my girlfriend after eating that I wouldn’t come back. For New York prices, you better deliver New York eats.

Heard good things about this place but I was not impressed during my visit. Went about 7:00 on a Wednesday night and only 1 table occupied — was not busy, phone wasn’t ringing like crazy so I thought I would get some relatively decent service. Guy at counter seemed very disinterested, asked me literally after 2 seconds of looking at the menu if I had any questions — I think I need more than 2 seconds before I can answer that. He might have been high somewhat. Once my decision was made, ordered 2 different sandwiches to go — both had the option of being hot or cold and since these were for lunch the next day, I said I wanted them cold. In fact, I ordered one — told them cold, then ordered 2nd sandwich and said cold ALSO. This information was not relayed to the sandwich maker so they were both sent thru the toaster oven. I was not asked what bread I wanted, what type of cheese I wanted, if I wanted mayo or mustard — NADA. Maybe that’s the way it is in NY(doubtful) but no options were provided — again — NOTBUSY at all. I can’t see how this place will survive in what I would assume is a high-rent location. Maybe their day shift personnel have better customer service and the night shift is just an after thought. It’s not like sandwiches are on people’s minds for dinner — maybe they should consider closing after 2:30 and just focus on breakfast and lunch. I can’t see returning to this location for any reason — too many options to have crappy service and communication. Best sandwich in town is at Baldino’s in my opinion — they bake their AWESOME bread onsite.

I don’t normally write anything negative about anyone. But since I am originally from the Northeast and I grow up eating great pastrami, I felt compelled to write about this experience. The pastrami I had yesterday at this restaurant did not look or taste like pastrami. Their representation that they serve real NY pastrami is at best, misleading. And to make it worse, the sandwich costs $ 12.00! Don’t bother going here. Instead, go to the airport get on an airplane to New York City and go to Katz’s Deli will you will get the real thing.

Best Pastrami sandwich in the south. This place has amazing food. Giant New York Style Kosher Dill Pickles, ½ sandwich and soup is more than enough but get the whole sandwich because you will want it for later. Mushroom Bisque soup, holy cow is so very good. Great atmosphere, television on the wall if you must watch the ticker, big enough for large groups and they can cater your next event. I found this place a while ago and now I can’t stay away. Got to try it.

A New York Deli. This one is true not like any real New York Deli that I have ever been to. The menu has a lot of New York names. Like the Yankee, The Big Apple, Central Park, The knuckle Sandwich. I asked for a typical Italian. You know ham, salami, pepperoni, prosciutto, and coppa. I ended up with a sandwich they called Little Italy and it contained the following. A little ham, a lot of turkey, provolone 3 slices of pepperoni and a lot of lettuce and some mayo. The bread was really fresh and soft but lacked the crispy crust that a true NYC sub should have. Don’t get me wrong it was a good sandwich just not a NYC sub. The whole NYC deli is nothing like this place which is big and roomy. No deli in New York is roomy. This place is like a subway on steroids for sure. I probably will eat here again cause it is one of the better sandwiches in the area. Maybe if you take away Jason’s who has a Pastrami sandwich that could almost rival Katz in size only and Juicy Kitchen that is not that far away.

To be honest, I don’t remember a ton about the food. I’m pretty sure I enjoyed it as I usually remember bad meals. However, I do remember it taking over 30 minutes to get my food order. There was one girl and it seemed like she was training the other, but there were only maybe 5 food orders that needed to be made. I felt like even in a training situation, it could have been handled better/more quickly(like maybe make all the food before sweeping outside?)

I think there are some growing pains. The line was a little confusing and I don’t think that’s the restaurants fault. Sandwiches are MASSIVE. I took half of mine to go. The deli salads are legit. Really liked the ones we picked — potato and macaroni. I have the Madison square garden without mushrooms and I really liked it. A friend got the urban cowboy(half) and soup. The soup was frozen when she got it. The sign says made fresh daily but I don’t know how that’s possible with ice chunks in it. The potatoes were solid and cold. They microwaved her soup and gave it back to her. I don’t like when places microwave the food. Another friend bought the second city dog and was pretty mediocre to where he didn’t eat most of it. Good to have new options near work but I’m not sure I’ll be back for awhile.

«Marinara sauce on an Italian Sandwich??? This is either going to be worst idea ever — or the *BEST* idea ever!» I thought to myself as I placed my order today at the newly opened Gandolfo’s. Well! Let me tell you. ITWASTHEBESTSANDWICH I HAVEHADALLYEAR!!! Jacksonville has a new amazing Deli and I don’t know if I can ever go back to anything else! The amazing sandwich I got was called the«Mama Leone.» The sandwich was packed thickly with savory Ham, salami, pepperoni, provolone, parmesan, tomato, onions, marinated mushrooms, and green peppers all tied together with marinara sauce! This sandwich was ridiculously delicious. In fact, I kept yelling, «OH my GOSH this is sooooooo GOOD!» loudly from my office to no one in particular the entire time I was eating it. I thought the Marinara sauce was just going to be a layer on top of the sandwich but it tasted more like all the elements had been soaked in the Marinara sauce beforehand to bring the symphony of Italian flavors really together. I really cannot recommend this delicious sandwich enough! GONOW and get it! Gandolfo’s is right nearby the Starbucks and Your Pie Southeside by the Tinsel Town area. I know I’ve got a new favorite place for lunch now!!!
