Club Aqua

No stars. This place is shady as you can get. The address and suite number are for Aqua but the signage says Electro Lounge. $ 30 cover for a no-​name forgein band and the guys at the door looked like they could play the villan roles in a Bond flick. Stay away.

Maybe my review is a little late, but from what I’ve heard and seen, it’s still the same. Go here if you want to get stabbed. Seriously… there’s been several stabbings and fights here. That is all.

This place is absolutely disgusting. The furniture is falling apart & has crap all over it. It stinks really badly. The bathrooms are the most disgusting I’ve ever seen in my entire life. I’ve seen port-​a-​potties that were cleaning. Trash all over the floor, toilets were clogged & dirty, no locks on most of the doors, no SOAP! Who doesn’t provide soap?!? How are the bartenders washing their hands if there’s no soap??? The tiles have cracks in them & the place reeks of cigarette smoke. The health department needs to shut this place down.

Im a out of towner came here on a saturday night… mixed crowd, the music was ok, didnt play up to date music. It was a lil thick, if I had a choice probably wouldnt go again!

Stopped by on a Friday night and was pleasantly surprised. Music was loud and decent (in the main room at least). Moderately agressive guys meant that the girls in our group were occasionally surprised by a guy dancing up on them. They kept away if you made your wishes known, however. Several bouncers inside the dance area kept a watchful eye over the crowd, though there were no situations that warranted them intervening so I do not know how effective they would be. At around midnight the club-​sponsored dancers started giving away free shots on the front stage. The crowd was mostly composed of 18 – 24 year old women and 18−30+ men (yes, there were some 30+ men stalking around).
With regards to the shooting incident, they must have increased security since it occurred (Times Union say it occurred on Feb 7, 2009). I was throughly frisked upon entrance and the 6+ bouncers in and around the front doors along with the 4+ JSO officers out front gave a decent sense of security. As mentioned above, there was no sense of hostility or anything inside. At 2AM when the club clears out the crowd stayed around in the parking lot. As I left, JSO was working to urge people to get home.
They have 3 rooms with different types of music, including their flagship room (which held a healthy crowd during my visit) with VIP area (with bottles of alcohol and a hooka or two) that played a great mix of top-​40. This room was hosted by «Dee Jay Capone» on my visit.
Drinks were small but well poured. $ 3 for a ~8 ounce whiskey sour and $ 2 for a bottle of water.
For us at least, the females in our group got in free before midnight; Guys were left to paying a modest $ 5 cover for 21+, 18+ males must pay $ 15. The club is 18+ (again, for us at least but I have no indication to suspect it changes).
Overall it was an inexpensive night out that had lots of fun and good stories.

People tell me I look young. I still get carded, and I can easily slip into a high school unnoticed. I went to my old high school about a year ago for a parent-​school district meeting and a cheerleader thought I was her classmate. Yes, I probably had her teachers… ten years ago! Haha.
Too bad I’m not a cougar. I would really have a hey-​day. Aqua would be my number one choice for a night out. The music is great, the people are friendly (for the most part — my friend saw a small group of mean-​mugging chicks), the atmosphere is pretty fun there and they have a dress code. But, one star knocked off because I tend to be attracted to guys my age or older.
There was eye candy the last time I went, including some cute Latin guy with spiky hair with the sexiest accent. Haha. But yeah, he looked young. Now, if he was about my age and just happened to look young, then let me go bang my head against the wall for a few hours. Haha.
So, if you are in your mid-20’s and younger, this is a great spot to check out.

Let me start off by telling you that i used to go here all the time! The music is great and the bartenders are great. But let me tell you that i stopped going because someone was shot here. And i know that going to the clubs is dangerous and people can get shot but people should not be able to get shot INSIDE the establishments! Outside is one thing but how can people feel safe when someone has been shot Inside. Beach Blvd isnt as bad as other parts of town, especially where this place is located just minutes from the town center. Just be careful if you go here.

Do you remember that Saturday Night Live skit from years ago, the Night at the Roxbury thing? Well, if that skit had happened on the Southside of Jacksonville… anyway, you get where I’m going.
Not that it makes it a bad place, you just need to go into it with your eyes open as far as what kind of a place it is. It is a younger crowd, and sometimes kind of an aggressive party atmosphere. Again, not bad, just what it is.
The drink prices are fairly reasonable, but I’ve had mixed experiences with the staff. It can get pretty uncomfortable here when its packed so take a minute to figure out which bartenders are actually fast.
Again, I’m a pretty big proponent of knowing what you’re looking for, so if you’ve found yourself thinking ‘the problem with Jax is they don’t have any clubs like Orlando or Tampa’ this is your place.

This place would be great if I were just out of high school. The place is very large. The cover might very from person to person. It might depend on how you dress. Don’t dress too much though. Most people here are 18 – 22 if they are even that old. The main room is mainstream hip-​hop. They have a chillout room when you enter, which is pretty empty most of the time and a room where they played salsa. The VIP section seems like a joke.

Just wanted to note that this place was recently The Globe. Still a good place to go for a younger, sweaty club crowd. They have a bunch of rooms and it can get pretty packed.
Mostly hip hop and top 40 type stuff with some reggeaton in there too.
Drinks are about average for Jax, like 5 – 6 bucks for well drinks and $ 3 beers. Usually it’s a $ 15 cover but it can go down to $ 10 or even $ 5. It depends on who’s promoting.
Hot chicks drink free though, isn’t that how it always is?
Just make sure she’s 18.
