Bono’s Bar-B-Q & Catering

This particular Bono’s gets a pass from me since I come here regularly for lunch and they know me here. Recently, one of the waitresses let us know about their «deal» on drinks — if you purchase one of their special plastic cups, you get refills in the cup for 99 cents. That works well for us since we’re here so often. Ya’ll know how expensive drinks can be when eating out these days!
Regarding the food, mostly it’s pretty good. Or normally consistent. The nature of BBQ is that it really depends on who’s preparing it each day. Consistency is difficult in the BBQ biz. So sometimes it might be a bit dry, but most days it’s pretty good. As a BBQ lover, I probably would have given 3 stars if it weren’t for the fact I just like this particular Bono’s and the staff. I can’t say I’ve had the same good consistent experiences at other Bono’s, so I typically only visit this location these days!

Always enjoy Bono’s on San Jose. My wife and I eat lunch together their often, the staff knows just what we like and where we like to sit! Nothing better than being made to feel welcome and be well fed!

As a BBQ lover, I was not happy with my visit here. However, I will say that the service was worse than the food. We asked for just some slight variations on our meals and were told that «because it’s a corporate location and the computers were controlled by corporate, we cannot make any substitutes in the computer». And then 3 minutes later, we overheard a group just a couple tables over, with a different server, ask for more complicated substitutions than we had and the server said «absolutely, we can do that» and even went on to offer other substitutions that they weren’t even asking for.
We asked for simple condiments that were not on the table and during our entire stay, they still never made it to the table. Our drinks sat empty, on the edge of the table, while the server blew past our table several times. So finally, we had to interrupt her flight pattern and ask for refills.
As far as the food. It wasn;t good BBQ. The pork was cut into cubes and was pretty flat on flavor. I mean, it’s pulled pork or sliced pork… who cuts BBQ pork into cubes? Just was an overall bad experience. If either the food or the service had been outstanding, or even «good» for that matter, I’d consider giving it another chance. But for my BBQ cravings, I’ll stick to some of the other BBQ joints from now on.

Bono’s San Jose consistently provides excellent food and service. Marie and Tink go above and beyond to make their customers happy!

BBQ is always good! Bono’s does it right and since we were in the area checking out a sale at Spiritual Metaphysical Uplift, we walked right over for lunch.
Service was quick, aroma’s amazing, and the food delicious!

This is great home style be with a twist. There are great options like salads, sandwiches, platters daily specials and family meals. The meals are very reasonably priced and the restaurant is always clean. I have had only good service here with friendly waitstaff.

Great food as always, just a shame the service is really, really bad. It was a slow night and I seldom saw my server, what a sahme.

Stopped in with my mom earlier to grab lunch and had a delicious meal (as always). They were a bit busy but everyone working stopped to greet everyone who in the door quickly and to acknowledge that you’re there and seated everyone as soon as they could. We found out from our server, Henry, they had two servers not show up and that left them really short handed. He got us drinks and let us know he owuld be back in just a minute. This guy was on top of everything, literally running from table to table to keep smiles on everyone’s faces and always smiling himself. Definitely one of the best servers we’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting!

Split an order of handcut onion rings (x-​tra ranch) and then split a Ruben Supreme w/​xtra sour kraut. Hold off on beverage and then have a rebull/​jäger bomb to finish off meal. If you’re out for real fun take a DD or can. I really loved the steak fries not curliest. My friend went Gaga over the ton of Ruffles he had. We will all definitely go back again. Three people, less than 100 $ total and not a single complaint.

Had an early supper there on ⁸⁄₉ with high expectations since we just moved about a half mile from the restaurant. It would have been a terrific bonus to have great barbeque so close by.
Alas, it wasn’t meant to be. I’m not saying it was bad barbeque, just ordinary. I had a rack of baby back ribs. The sauce was ok. Not much of a smoke flavor, however. (ok, Bono, come clean… did you boil your ribs??!)
Wife had all-​you-​can-​eat chicken. I must say it was much tastier. The upside is that their prices were reasonable and at least when we went, there wasn’t a wait.

I would almost like to give it a 3.5, but I don’t know. I was in the Jacksonville area (and Ponte Vedra Beach) for about 3 days during a FL vacation. I ate at this one, on San Jose Blvd., and several others. It’s a chain and it’s like a North Florida Denny’s for BBQ. It doesn’t disappoint — it’s pretty good and reasonably priced.

Great food try to eat inside tho cause they are Very very stingy with there Togo orders sauce packets. They will cost you 25cent each and most orders only come with one. You have been warned!

This BBQ is what you would expect from a chain. Nothing really stands out, but everything is ok. You will not be disappointed with anything you order. Brisket has a nice smoke ring, but it’s a little dry for my liking.

Great food, always the best. Big improvement since they went back under corporate management recently.
