This review is for delivery, we didn’t actually visit the restaurant. I’ve never been to Okinawa but the friends that I was visiting lived there for 3 years and claim that this place is legit. I ordered the curry chicken katsu and my daughters had the chicken teriyaki. I’m not crazy about anything breaded(I know, it’s weird) but still enjoyed my food. I had a bite of my friend’s taco rice, which I liked a lot better. I really liked the sauce. Delivery was very prompt, within 20 mins of ordering our food was at the door. I felt it was a bit pricey but the portions are large enough for two people to share.

Went in last night with the family. We had the gyoza appetizer, curry chicken, beef yakisoba, and taco rice. The setting is small but quaint. Tasteful decorations with a warm atmosphere. The service was decent but we did not receive a drink refill at any point in time. Overall we were disappointed with our experience. The meal servings were large but the food was far below the quality we expected for the price. We may go back but it is fairly unlikely.

Aji Ichiban has always been our favorite place in town to eat until today. The food is always great and authentic Okinawan/Japanese food. If I had to judge on the food alone they would get 5 stars. The server was a white American girl that was to busy with her phone and the only other table with people at it. She took forever 15+ minutes to get 4 damn glasses of water. I asked what kind of fish they had for sushi and she said none… wha? She corrected herself and said they have tuna and crab. No chopsticks until we finished the sushi already. Terrible, just terrible experience. Classic J-Actionville experience.

Just ordered my first meal for delivery and the man that delivered my food was so sweet to me and my doggy laylah. The food is exactly like oki and I could not be happier !

Got the ramen and it was just okay/basic. They cousins make it spicy but they gave me red pepper flakes. The best part was probably the side salad. The Teriyaki chicken was good but not the best. I fed recommend you try it and give it a shot but I won’t go back.

Really good food. I never ate a lot of Okinawan food while I was stationed there, so I can’t really say if it tastes like authentic Okinawa food, however, this place has good food and good size portions. Also, if you are looking for a place that delivers anything other than Chinese, pizza, or sandwiches, this is that place. Food is fresh and tasty with pretty quick delivery. Recommended.

I decided to come back here and give it another shot but nothing has changed. Horrible customer service and both from the server and the cook. Food was not good and it was over priced for something as simple as a Japanese Pancake

Had the galbi entrée which was good but make sure you don’t wear dentures because the meat is pretty chewy. Came with veggies(broccoli, carrots) which was a little too salty, IMO, potato & bacon, and rice. Hubbs had the spicy katsu curry(you have options on ordering it mild, non spicy etc) but for some reason the cook added shredded cheese on it(wth?). We were waiting for a bit & he was pretty hungry so he didn’t want to wait for a new plate to cook. Server was nice. Décor was cool and place is small. I guess they have delivery too. Not bad but not mind blowing either.

The food was OK but they got my order wrong. Do not recommend. The taco rice a little salty.

This is by far our favorite place to stop and eat when we are in town. A small authentic restaurant located in a strip mall. The lunch bento box comes with soup and salad. Prices are reasonable. Make sure to check it out if your in town.

Aji Ichiban is my favorite Asian restaurant in Jacksonville. They have a mixed menu with Okinawan and Japanese food. You can’t go wrong with one of their bento boxes that give you soup, salad, rice, nishime(stewed veggies), sashimi, tempura, and your choice of teriyaki meat. Their sushi rolls are on a separate menu and are smaller but cheaper and excellent. Chicken katsu curry and Taco rice are also popular. Imagine a beef taco’s contents on steamed rice. They also have bitter melon off menu when available. Only downside is there’s only one server so it can get slow.

Absolutely love this place. My boyfriend and I eat here frequently and everytime we go, we always have a wonderful experience! Wonderful staff, wonderful food. Would definitely recommend the curry!

Had the curry. It was delicious! My sister and her boyfriend throughly enjoyed their food as well. A little pricey but overall worth it! Will be returning soon.

Food is always delicious. Servers are always friendly and attentive. On this particular occasion we got take-out and ordered: California Roll — very fresh and tasty. Gyoza — pan fried perfectly. Children’s Beef Yakisoba — huge portion and was delicious. Beef Teriyaki — delicious and enough food for two meals. Will be back :)

It’s a whole in the wall, sure. But they have Okinawan food! Hai Sai! Try Soba with pork ribs, veggie Tempura, Katsu … Good Okinawan food! They do take out and they are open in between lunch and dinner: ideal for extremely low lubch/super early dinner.

Ordered the Bento box B it was super good. Husband ordered the yakisoba it was delicious. Huge portions! very full and still have half my box left. We order the gyoza for appetizer it wad mostly cabbage with a little meat but still very good. Def going back. Only bad thing is that they might need more staff.

I know of no other authentic soba house between Jacksonville NcC and Charlotte! The only thing I have had is the soba(soup). I was spoiled on it living in Okinawa and this is just like it. The price was a little more than I expected but still well worth it.

This is an excellent place to get fried rice and lumpia rolls. The chicken teriyaki is also very good. I would recommend ordering your order to-go because there is only ever one waitress who handles all in-house dinners, to-go orders, and the phone. So the service can sometimes be slow depending on when you go. I have been to this place close to 10 times and the food is never disappointing. Service can be slow and sometimes come off ass rude and busy.

Best Okinawa soba ever in the US. We just moved from CA to NC and it is already our favorite restaurant.

I have now moved to TX but I miss this place. I think about Aji Ichiban all the time when I pay $ 15 for the same tempura shrimp I would’ve acquired here for half the price. Not located in the most flattering place but do NOT be fooled. This is where you get the most BANG for your BUCK… Friendly service, great food but even better prices.
