This place is on point. Great salsa… Lunch Fajitas were great. Large plate if chicken, onions and pepper. Great value for the money.

Maybe it was a bad cook or a full moon but the food was disgusting! The tacos tasted like dog food the cilantro was old and nasty. My kids wouldn’t take more than two bites of there food, normally i would be upset about that but in this case i didnt care. Its tiny which is fine but not clean at all the silverware still had old food on it so i told the waitress she said sorry it happens sometimes. You can see right into the kitchen which is dirty and disgusting looking.

Somewhere out there is a person on a crusade. This quest has carried this individual far and wide in search of one thing: The perfect taco. If you are this person, I am speaking to you. I have found that which you seek and it is available at an very reasonable price. Incredibly this taco is not in Mexico … or even in a border state. Not in a large city on a fancy restaurant. The perfect taco is made by Toñito’s Taquiera in Jackson Michigan. Tacos al pastor are served traditional style with onions and cilantro. The meat is juicy and flavorful. There is no need for cheese and all of the other accoutrements that we American’s have come to expect from Taco Bell or chain restaurants. Just a squeeze of lime and perhaps a small amount of the very spicy taco sauce provided. The spicy sweet flavor of the pork is like a mariachi band playing your favorite song in your mouth. Stop looking … your quest ends here!

I’ve eaten a lot of tacos in my lifetime, from Acapulco to Mexico City to Adrian, and the carne asada and carnita tacos that Toñitos prepared were some of the best I’ve ever hall eaten!

I came to this restaurant completely by accident. My friends and I originally intended to eat at a Mexican restaurant across the street, but spent so much time in traffic that they were closed when we got there. So we went to Toñito’s instead. Best. Decision. Ever. I’m not sure they’d seen a group of 15 before — the staff seemed pretty surprised — but they handled it well, and combined a bunch of tables to accommodate our group. Once everyone was settled and the food started coming, I noticed that the portion sizes were pretty generous. We ordered a wide variety of burritos, enchiladas, tacos, and a steak. The meat is pretty flavorful, and most dishes also come with sides of rice, creamy refried beans, and a small lettuce salad. Of course, they give you free tortilla chips while you wait. The best part? Nobody got sick the next day. Which is a legitimate concern when eating at a Mexican restaurant in Michigan. Bathroom is clean and works well, although the towel dispenser is a little janky. There are some Latin American style(?) paintings on the wall in the bathroom. But I’m not an art expert so really I have no idea what I’m talking about. I doubt I’ll be in the area again, but if I am, I’m definitely going out of my way to eat at Tonito’s again.
