When you hear«buy local» this is what people are talking about. A great little locally owned grocery chain with eclectic regional products, a great deli, and friendly staff. They have some things i can’t find anywhere else. Their meat department will straight up cut you whatever you want if it’s not in the meat case. I needed a bottom round roast and they cut me one(didn’t know this stuff happened any more). Their produce is ok — that is probably their weakest link to me — but I’m comparing with huge chains nearby. For the basics like potatoes, bagged salad, onions, carrots, etc. it’s perfectly fine. Plus they have a nice salad bar and always busy hot lunch line. They hire people with challenges — like two hearing-impaired bag boys who are precious and so helpful — and this alone is enough to make me shop here. It’s the real deal community-wise. Whole Foods opened up right across from them, so I hope they can keep their business strong — esp since the strip mall owners are hiking up rents and running others out. They are the place to go to run in and out without a hassle, which we need! If you support local business, this is one that is deserving.

I’ve been in here a few times now to get some essentials for my hotel. Every time there is water involved. I usually get a gallon of water — so I can sip on it while I am in town. My hotel charges $ 5 per bottle — so it’s totally worth it to grab a bottle here. On one trip I grabbed some cookies! They were incredible. chocolate chocolate chip. Decadent — delicious — and satisfied my sweet tooth! Whoever whipped these up in the bakery hit it out of the park! My last go around I got some banana nut muffins! I had one for dinner one night — one for breakfast — one for a snack — and couldn’t finish the last one on the trip so unfortunately I had to toss it. GREAT value as far as I am concerned — and those things were delicious! The place is organized and well stocked — the staff is always friendly — and it’s in a super walkable/convenient location. I always seem to be in this part of town — so I’ll keep on grabbing my essentials here!

Instead of eating junk food while working in this city. I decided to stop here to pick up some fruit. When home I do like to cook and I use Olive Oil for most of it. Well I came across a great selection of Olive Oils at this store. The variety and prices here were unbelievable compare to the prices back home. I was also able to get some Avocado Oil, Walnut Oil and Grapeseed Oil at very good prices. So I stacked up on these to take back home. If I’m ever to return to Jackson I will make it a point to visit this store again.

McDade’s is a great local grocery store that carries southern brand food items that you can’t always find at the larger chains. They also have a good selection of craft beer. But my favorite thing about this location is their salad buffet. Great selection of fresh veggies and other toppings and they don’t charge an arm and a leg like most salad buffets. And you always get exceptionally friendly service!

I love going to this McDade’s. It seems to have a better selection than the other McDade’s, though the place can get a little cramped when it gets busy(right about 5:15 every day after work). The staff is always friendly and eager to help. I like to drop in on my way home to pick up a few things to make for dinner from time to time. I also use it when I’m in a hurry as the lines are almost never very long. The selection isn’t going to compete with the variety at a major market, but it is kind of nice to not have to sort through 20 different varieties of *insert item of choice here* while you try to decide. McDade’s Wine and Spirits, Ace Hardware, Beemon’s, and a number of other great places are all in the same shopping center meaning that you can still make this a one stop shopping trip if you are looking for other items that a major chain might carry. The only reason I can’t give a full five stars is price. They cost more, sometimes a good bit more, sometimes not so much, but I like to think my money is staying in the state and going to a local company when I’m here.
