Overall, I think this Kroger is decent. I haven’t had any awful experiences, but at the same time, no outstanding ones either. They’re hit or miss in pretty much all areas– service, professionalism, cleanliness, quality. What I do like about this location is that they often have a decent clearance selection. Maybe it’s being in MS and not having as many avid healthy eaters as other places, but it seems like there’s always some markdowns in the organic/health foods section. I think this Kroger and many other locations would benefit from teaching their employees to be professional. I know there are a lot of teenagers that work here, so it may be difficult, but it’ll serve them and the store in the long run if professionalism is a top priority.

I really thought I had already reviewed this grocery store. Here is the rundown: It is big and crowded and you can’t park anywhere convenient. It is more expensive than the local stores but typically better quality produce and meat. It is big, but still lacking. Not really sure why people love it but they act like it is religion. It is not terribly convenient off of the interstate(the McDades and Whole Foods at Northside and I-55 are easier to get in and out of. The place is huge, and no matter how many people are inside, there are always too many cars outside. You will never get a parking spot remotely close to the door, so if it is too hot, too cold or too rainy, just don’t get groceries here. I’ve taken to just parking over at the Office Depot and calling it my exercise for the day. They have a lot of stuff, but not necessarily more of what you want or need. Their produce is pretty on point for conventional produce. They also have a lot of it. Again, this does not mean that you will be able to find everything that you need! I am always surprised that there will be something not too obscure that I cannot find there. Price wise, it is more expensive than most of the local grocery stores and cheaper than whole foods. The quality of the food is pretty good, but if you really care about your produce we have amazing farmers markets. If you want local produce, just go to McDades, they have more local produce than any grocery store I have been to in Jackson. They are typically the cheapest too.

I just spent an hour walking all over this store getting my groceries. I was next in line to check out and the front end person made me move to another line. She and another employee were standing in front of me. My mom trained me right, so I waited for them to move. In the meantime three people jumped in that line to check out in front of me. I turned to go back to my original line and there is now someone with a huge cart full of stuff heading into that line. This is the second time they have done this to me, so I left my cart and walked out. I have never done that before and I will not return to this Kroger. Too bad, because it is a nice store.

Clean store with nicer than average employees. Big selection of everything, including housewares. Veggies and fruit pretty nice. Small organic section. Meat mostly nice, butcher counter needs a close inspection of meat, can be old. Sometimes have really nice filets and porterhouse. Large frozen food section. Deli, bakery, salad type buffet.

This Kroger has a stranglehold on grocery shopping in the NE Jackson area, and that is a huge problem. Is this Monsanto only grocery? Their prices and selection reflect this monopoly. Sure, the seventeen plus eager beaver managers are swell. The meat department is scary and meat glue dependent. Jackson deserves better.

Two different grocery store reviews in two days and both got four stars… What gives?! Well, I’ll tell you… Price and selection make Kroger a four star grocery in my mind. Their employees are also friendly. The«points» you can get towards gas purchases are a nice touch too. You can find just about everything here, from your standard grocery fair to ink cartridges for your printer. But, at the same time, all the selection and vast array of items can be overwhelming. I have spent 15 minutes just looking at the various ice creams, trying to figure out which one was exactly what I wanted. When I have a long time to spend in the store and a long list of items, I will generally come here. Not only can I save money, but I get a discount on fuel as well. When I am in a hurry or I have a very concise list, I will go to my other four star grocer, McDade’s. Each of them have advantages over the other.
