Needed a cheap and easy place to stay while driving through. Checked in later in the evening with a rather unpleasant woman. Got into the room and it was terrible. Uncomfortable bed, and I found someone elses hair in the sheets. Sucked it up because it was CHEAP. The TV went out and when my boyfriend went to the office to ask about it he was berated by a man that worked there, who threatened him and generally made us no longer feel safe staying there. We packed up our things and went to return the keys and no one would answer the office door or the phone. Left the keys with a note in the drop box and we were still charged for the night, even after having to find another available room at 11:30pm. DONOTSTAYHERE.

Staying here was a blast from the past. It reminded me of the places we would stay at when we would fly XC in small private airplanes. Only thing missing was my parents and my sister! Do not let the old furniture and rooms fool you. Take a big look around, I did not spot any spider webs or other things that would creep me out inside or out! I do recommend that they do invest in new blankies and get up to speed with an additional daily clean sheet on top of blankie! Being by the HWY, it was amazingly quiet from traffic and other occupants. This is no doubt due to the adobe style building. No Telephones, but a fast wireless internet connection! Phew since my Verizon broadband aircard would not work! All and all, this place shined with pride of ownership!

Disgusting motel, with even worse staff! STAYSOMEWHEREELSE!!! I could deal with a bad motel, but the people that work here make it even worse. Male at front desk who refuses to give name and tells everyone he’s the owner needs a real slap in the mouth. Horrible experience.

Great place. Looks a little«seedy» from the highway, but once inside it is beautiful. I must have pasted it 50 times in the last 20 years, but I’ve never given it a 2nd look. It is a rustic looking stucco /adobe building with a red tile roof — very«spanish» looking. Nice patios & covered walkways. About 15 rooms — the 4 nicest are downstairs facing the garden /pool. The owners live in the adjacent-attached house and are busy everyday with up-keep — so the place is like an extension of their home. Our room had a queen + 1 full size(perfect for a family of 3) + TV. The bathroom is small — but it has a shower, sink & toilet. Central A/C + the windows crank open for fresh air + ceiling fan. We paid $ 95 for a Sat night. They have one«pet room» if you want to bring dog(s) — but they charge and extra $ 10 per night per dog. But it is «1st come, 1st served» for the«pet room». It is next to the Elk’s Lodge & an RV park, but the landscaping hides that. We were there for the July 4th weekend — and the local Jr. High does a full fireworks show on July 3rd. The Jr High is about 3 miles from the Resort. It is located at the junction of highways 49&88. It is a little south of Sutter Creek & a little west of downtown Jackson. Kirkwood Ski Resort is about 60 miles east on 88. I highly recommend it.

If you’re the kind of person that likes 1940’s ambiance, this is the place for you. This is not a modern motel, but a well-cared for relic from, I believe, 1941, right before we joined in WWII. Since I’m kind of a nostalgia freak for that time period, I just had to stay there. Luckily for me, it’s priced very reasonably. If you’re looking for a fresh, modern motel room I have no idea why you’d want to stay here. It smells old– not in a «gag me» sort of way, but to me there is a ancient, pleasant«Grandma’s House» kind of aroma. There is no individual climate control. And thank God there are no telephones. I will say that, even for a period hotel, the bathrooms are horribly, horribly small. I’m well over 6′ and I had to contort myself to use them. A normal-sized person should be OK. The grounds and garden are excellent. You’ll never experience this by staying in a chain motel. The pool is great, it’s quiet. This is how America used to travel and you know what? It’s nice. It’s peaceful. It’s relaxing. Do what we did and stop early in the day. Sit in the garden and enjoy. Stop at the grocery and buy some charcoal and a couple of steaks and some beer and ENJOYYOURSELF. Write a great book, and be the interesting person that OTHER people meet and remember. I wanted to rate this place five stars because I enjoyed it so much. In fact, I think I will. Sure there are drawbacks, which I mentioned. But do I WANT them to enlarge the bathroom? No, of course not, that’s part of its charm. If you come here expecting these little idiosyncrasies you’ll have a GREAT time, I guarantee it.
