Went to Basil’s for lunch today and had the shrimp toast lunch special. It was absolutely one of the BEST things that I have eaten in a while! Two wedges of shrimp toast, salad, and drink for $ 10.50 was a great deal! Staff was extremely friendly and wait time, even during the lunch rush, was short. I will definitely be back SOON (especially when the shrimp toast is on the lunch special menu)!

Basils has always been really solid and a good value. I still think wistfully about the times when Basil’s Belhaven had its confusingly expanding menu and great value at every meal.
This downtown location is just a lunch spot, and a lovely one at that. It is casual enough to drop in for a quick bite or takeaway and charming enough to a client for a casual meeting.
The menu isn’t going to impress anyone a whole lot but the panini are really good. They load them up with fixings and have a wide variety to choose from. The pasta salad is always my favorite side, but they have other good options too.
This is a simple place, with quick service and excellent value. You can’t go wrong if you’re not putting too much thought into your meal here.

Frequent Basils for lunch and never had a bad experience. Their paninis (all of them) are great but I particularly favor the Turkey mozzarella. Add a side of tomato basil soup or red beans and rice, and you have a great lunch for under 10 $. Special mention of the staff who are incredibly sweet.
