The tacos at this cart are pretty good, they’ve got a lot of competition though throughout this entire strip and neighborhood in general — but they do have a really fantastic spot right underneath the overpass of the large train hub that is 74th and Roosevelt. I’ve only had tacos here like twice and both times were simply okay, nothing to write home about but they serve their purpose and I would gladly order them again. What really saves this cart for me is that they offer a variety of different foods like tortas, quesadillas, more traditional sandwiches, I think fajitas/floutas, etc. The quesadillas here here are what’s up — lots of juicy meat, lots of cheese, fresh cilantro if you ask nicely for it, ample limes available and spicy sauces if you’re into that sort of thing(I can’t do spicy, yeah yeah — I know, lame). The guy(s) that run the cart are also pretty friendly and easygoing despite how there can oftentimes be a line since they’re the first cart in your face upon exiting the train station — but they’re fast, tasty and cheap… sometimes that’s all you need.

I discovered this cart very late at night when me and my bff were on our way to her house fron a LONG night of partying… I hadnt eaten anything, but surprisingly, these Mexican carts were out there making Tacos and stuff… There’s usually 2 or 3 lined up and the one I go to is this one which is the closest to the corner… anywho…my boyfriend and I are addicted to it… he lives and Brooklyn and drives all the way out here to get their Chicken Sandwiches whenever he gets a craving for it… I’ve tried most of their Tacos and they are all good… but my TRUELOVE is their Chicken Quesadilla… and I love the Green Pepper sauce they give me to go with it… Also, the prices are REALLYCHEAP… and this is a GREAT spot for Late Night Munchies… LOL… I have tried stuff from the other 2 carts next to it, but I like this one the BEST…

Among the taco cart mainstays in Jackson Heights, Taqueria Huejotzingo(TH) finds itself parked in front of the 74th Street-Broadway station and right next to Sabor Mexicano( ), 24 hours a day, rain or shine. The tacos do the job, but they don’t beat out the rest of the local competition. Named after a town just outside Puebla, Taqueria Huejotzingo presumably brings a lot of the home flavor back to the mouths of it’s former inhabitants. Most Mexicans whom I’ve spoken to who came here by way of Mexico have almost always cited Puebla as their hometown(literally). Many will flock to this cart during all hours of the day and it’s never unusual to see a small crowd forming here during rush hour or late at night. One particular edge TH has on the rest of the competition is they offer more food than just tacos, quesadllas or tortas, but rather daily soup specials(Menudo!), hand made tortillas, and tamales. Sadly it’s too hard for me to hype up the tamales, most of the ones I’ve tried were dry and were most likely sitting out awhile. Tacos here are good, but are only mildly good when compared what can be had in a two block radius. TH is fortunate to be able to utilize the overhead subway platform and Roosevelt Station for cover in case of bad weather. It’s pretty obvious why there are only a couple of carts after a certain time period for both weather and convenience reasons. Very few patrons will make the trek to an isolated food cart, when they can dine for the same price right outside the subway. But when the night ends and the day begins, it’s carts like usually Sabor Mexicano and Taqueria Huejotzingo that are left standing.

***Jeff O’s 2009 Food Cart Crawl in Queens*** (all stars are relative to other food carts) Stop #1 I had a carnitas taco for $ 2. Fresh onions and cilantro, good pork though a touch salty. I thought the guacamole was not the best with it being a little runny. Good value and good food to grab on the go. 3.5 stars

This was my first taco cart experience along Roosevelt Avenue and I declare it a resounding«not bad.» If I were stranded on a desert island I would certainly want to have this cart there(together with an iPod filled with my favorite tunes, an endless supply of coconuts and 500 tubes of sunscreen). But short of being stranded on a desert island, I’m not so sure I’d want to have this cart along… I got an al pastor taco and a chorizo taco(just two of around 10 different varieties). They were satisfying and if you’re rushing out of or into the nearby subway station, this cart will do nicely. The meats were the best part of the taco, but even so, they were lacking some excitement, some ineffable salty, spicy, goddmmit(!!) MEATY experience that you want when you eat meat. The tortillas weren’t quite soft and supple enough, and the guacamole was shot straight out of a plastic dispenser — a poor, distant relation to it’s avocado parent. They also sell tortas and an intriguing range of quesadillas, which might be worth exploring(I didn’t try either this time around). For $ 2.00 it’s hard to complain about a quick bite that is a million times better than, for example, the average hot dog cart dog… But, this nabe has so many taco options, I bet you could do better, given some exploration(which I plan to do).

This place is right outside the main entrance/exit point of Roosevelt/Jackson Heights train station served by the E F G V R. I am rating this place from a Non _Spanish speaking person’s view. Four of us got here the previous night, none of us spoke spanish, but we know what a burrito is and what is pollo. my friends ordered chicken burritos, while Pam and I decided to share a vegi burrito. I instructed the lady takin the order down, that I want no raw tomatoes in the burrito, infact i repeated it 3 times to her and she acknowledged. besides that we get it with tomatoes, i point it out to her after takin a bite, she tells me it is PEPPER actin all dumb… AREYOUFUCKINGKIDDINGME!!! i return the darn burrito and all she does is take the tomato out, and returns a disfigured burrito back to me, oh well I did’nt wanna make a big deal about it is cause of the language barrier. I did eat it, it tasted ok, the GUACAMOLIWASSOWATERED down in it, there was no flavor. will give it another try b4 I ban this place. the green hot sauce saved the day … and yeah the darn Burrito was $ 5, way too much imo for street food and was not filling at all.
