2 stars only because the food is delicious. It would get no stars if I could just for the delivery time. If you like to wait for 2 hours for a simple delivery, this is the place for you! Not once, but three times have I had a wait time like this from them. I tried to let it slide the first time because the food was so good, and this time I had forgotten about the wait time(how could anyone forget?) When I called to complain the FIRST time,(at the 1 hr, 15 min mark past my order time) I was told the standard«the driver is on the way, 5 – 10 mins.» When I called back at the 1 hr, 50 min mark, I was told«the driver just left, he had a few other orders to do.» I asked if all the other people who ordered also waited 2 hours, and he said«no… well, i dont know.» I hate to say no to the good food, but I have had enough of this place and their horrible service. After 2 hours the delicious food is cold, anyway. Not worth anybody’s time.

A very good Asian fusion(Himalayan/Chinese/Tibetan) restaurant. I’ll overlook the fact they advised me to stay away from the szechuan beef because«it was too spicy!» and review the delicious plates consumed or sampled: — Veggie and chicken momos. — Ginger Chicken(sweet and spicy). — Hakka noodled — Sesame Chicken on the skillet — Jumbo shrimp Some good(the food, staff!), some bad(the place was chilly), but overall worth the visit.

Brought my family here yesterday for lunch. The management has changed and this place is now called«Chili Chicken». We ordered the same thing that we always order– lollipop chicken, hakka noodles, and the lunch special chili chicken w/fried rice. Everything was ordered mild but it was very spicy– to the point where our noses were running and we were going through glass upon glass of water and soda. And I’m Pakistani, so spicy food ain’t no thang for me. But this was really too much. The icing on the cake was getting mild food poisoning about an hour after we left. Funny, because I remember ordering the lunch special, not the laxative special. Never coming back here.

I had high hopes for this place after hearing so may great things about it. We ordered all of their Unilocal-recommended dishes and a few disappointed. Their popular masala fries were very soggy. The coriander beef was super spicy but delicious. The chicken Hakka noodles were decent and the Momos were also decent. Since im south Asian, the spiciness don’t bother me. Until the next day when I got mild food poisoning. So while the food is tasty enough, the quality was questionable. I’ll preserve my stomach for other establishments..

I was skeptical at first, but this place was unexpectedly good. Good food, good service, good price; another descent Halal restaurant! Steamed Momos, Masala French Fries, Coriander Garlic Chicken and Szechwan Beef were delicious! If you are an enthusiastic Halal restaurant hunter, this place is a must try!

We came here about a week ago for a quick lunch. The steamed chicken MOMOS, delicious dumplings filled with choice of meat or veggies. It was served fresh and piping hot. It’s rated as one of the top ten to try according to Time Out mag. The momos are served with a spicy Himalayan sauce that was delicious. Other than these noted worthy merits, the management/service needs A LOT of improvements. I had the Tomkha noodles with chicken which is a traditional Himalayan broth but noted as coconut/tomkha on the menu. Portions were meager and contained only a few strands of noodles and chicken with veggies. My husband had the Masala Beef noodles that never came out with rest of the dishes. It had to do with one of the waitstaff changing shifts. Apparently, another waitstaff had arrived late to work so the manager caused a whole commotion by reprimanding her in front of the customers. I’ve never been a fan of managers that act like a-holes to their staff. This should had been dealt with privately behind closed doors on a professional level. They should know better than to yell at staff in front of patrons in their restaurant. The poor waitress could hardly provide any sufficient service w/o the managers breathing down her back. Ex. «When I tell you to do something, you have to listen. Wait, hold, hold on. Do not give to the customers. Go and check on the table. Did you refill their water? Why are you late? You should have called in, this is a job not your home. Aside from their staff ordeal, the manager never once apologized for the delay nor the fact that the order was never input in the system. The waitress was kind enough to do the apology for him even though he stood there dumb founded. The manager kept catering to the table behind us as if they were VIP(despite the fact that they were incredibly rude). Unreal! I’m only giving 2 stars for the momos. I agree with Jennifer P. except the managers need to get their s– together!

Best Indian Chinese food I’ve had in the area. I actually go often. Staff is sweet, the owners are usually there. Everything is good, even the vegetarian items. Want an interesting fusion, this is a must visit!

I only ordered General Tso chicken and Tofu with vegetables. I will give it four stars if only the price was cheaper. I received a small amount of chicken for about $ 8.95 — um wth?! The food was delicious though. After reading these reviews, I should’ve tried the other foods. I was looking for Chicken Lollilop but I didn’t know their called something else here! I might go back again if I end shopping at Trade Fair 74th Street again. My parents live near Tangra Masala in Grand Avenue, and their prices are a lot of cheaper!

New update! Apparently they feel that putting their money towards flashy light fixtures that look ugly is more important than correcting their yucky B grade!!! Ewww. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I hate having to do this, but seriously, they’ve had enough time to get their shit together. First of all, they do NOT have an A rating, but I don’t currently see any letter grade in the window. Shady Second, the last SEVERAL times we bothered to order — every time, something we had ordered ‘wasn’t available’. Most recently I placed an order through Seamless Web for TWO items. One of which was a vegetable spring roll. One minute after the order was placed, I received a call saying they don’t have spring rolls today but they’re sending me a chicken roll. Considering the other item in the order was vegetarian, I was kind of appalled that they assumed they could just substitute something instead of refunding that portion of the order. This is the typical attitude I’ve received from the staff. They know jack-shit about customer service. Third, the prices have increased pretty dramatically from when they first opened. We will not be returning.

The vegetable MOMOS are the best! I didn’t get a chance to eat a full meal here, but my friends tell me that the food is excellent. I still have to experience it for myself. The restaurant is clean and cosy, and I hope to come back soon and try some more vegetarian dishes.

Desi Chinese… yes please :) I’ve only had one thing that wasn’t from their Desi Chinese menu and that was general tso’s chicken for Celeste and it was great. Momos are excellent, the eggplant with Himalayan sauce appetizer is amazing… that sauce could become the Desi equivalent of Pio Pio green sauce for me. The spicy lemon coriander soup and the garlic soup are both amazing soups that I’ve never had anywhere else or even an equivalent. I love that I can order from Seamless Web. The last time I did that we got three lunch specials. Hot garlic chicken, basil beef and chili paneer… all so good that we were fighting over the sauce to put on the fried rice.

Do yourself a flavor. Stop in to see what this place is about! Low key atmosphere. 4* service. The best deal in JK for food quality. Got an A from DOH. Now for the pièce de résistance: From Desi menu: Salt & pepper shrimp — Getch your taste buds ready. Chili beef — tender, juicy Yumm. Any Fish dish, sauce on the side, crispy. Tried: Hot garlic, sweet & source, red curry & basil. All sauces tasty & not too salty. Momo’s — juicy and freshly made. Not doughy! Hakka noodles OK. Spicy coriander soup is ROCKIN! Will be back to check out more dishes…

A fusion restaurant which carries the typical fusion cuisine to pamper it’s customers. I am little confused though, this restuarant is facing an identity problem. They say they serve the desi food(Indo– Chinese) but they also carry the himalayan and american chinese cuisine. I have eaten here a couple of times and also got the food delivered too. Every time I order food from here, I had high expectations. But every time himalayan hut has disappointed me. I tried the Schewan Shrimps with rice. I agree they added good quality jumbo shrimps but it completely lacked the typical Indo-Chinese flavour. Next time I ordered the Shrimp lunch with fried rice for delivery. Ohh boy that’s was the most bland food I have ever tasted at an asian fusion restaurant. The only which I liked over a period of my several visits to this place were the hakka noodles and momos.

Great Service, get the chili fish and Paneer. Good fusion of Indian and Chinese. Momo’s are okay, nothing to write home about. I like soup dumplings from Joe’s shanghai much more.

This place is fantastic! Bf and I dragged our asses around NYC to get to this Jackson Heights restaurant. which is a pretty ok sit down place(not a shitty take out joint). The bathroom is decent. We came here because we wanted to try the Momos from TONY’s 100 Best Dishes. I’ve had Tibetan food only once before– at a staple of mine back in Boston where I went to school. I remember the momos there with mouth watering memories(House of Tibet in Somerville, in case you’re ever in the Boston area). These momos were almost as good, if not on par. We got 6 steamed chicken and knew they were made from scratch because it took about 20 minutes to come out. Succulent, most chicken, within thick, hearty wrapper– which a nice hot sauce which is unlike other Asian kinds. And that’s the thing. This place is truly Himalayan– as in, not really 100% Tibetan, or Chinese, or Indian(Desi they call it) — it’s all the above! We went with this eclectic pan Asian menu(as opposed to the actual Chinese take out). I suspect most patrons do. The service was really good– everyone really warm, polite, on point– to make you have a good experience. And prompt. The owner, I think, is still active in serving people, and he is very well spoken in English(his heritage is described by another Unilocaler as Tibetan/Chinese, raised in India???) I love when cultures mix! Apart from the Momos, we got: 1) the Chili Chicken– stir fried chicken(with a skin not unlike General Tsos), made with hot chillies, peppers and scallions. This is just ok. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. Came with a generous portion of white rice– which I thought to be a bit dry. 2) The Chlli Garlic Hakka Noodles with chicken– I didn’t taste a lot of garlic here, but man, these were really delicious! Thin, with lots of interesting veggies(more than chicken bites) but mainly, spicy, spicy, spicy which I love! I knew this was going to be good. my mom is from the Hakka region in China! I’m not entirely sure I would trek back here but if I’m in the area, I def would come again and try more things. There is really a lot of interesting stuff on the menu– spanning all the regions the owner is from. Jackson Heights in general seems like a good place for some solid Asian food. Pricing is moderate(10 per dish, not like Chinatown where it’s like 6 per dish), but quality/authenticity is high.

What a find! Typical«Chinese takeout» with an Indian twist. What’s exceptional about this place is how the food isn’t as greasy or salty or sugary as you’d expect, but instead the meats and vegetables are all very fresh and well-cooked, and the flavor profiles are very complex yet simple.

The vegetable manchurian and chili paneer dry are wonderful. It is thanks to these two dishes that I must give Himalayan Hut four stars. I also enjoy their noodle dishes. They got my order wrong last time I ate their. But, they quickly changed my dish and solved the problem.

First of all, this place is going to require an explanation. I am not entirely understanding it myself, but the gist of it is that this is the kind of Chinese food you would find in a place like Calcutta. Desi-style halal Chinese. Simple as that. The owner is half-Chinese, half-Tibetan, raised in Calcutta, and speaks English with an Indian accent. It’s amazing, really. There are two menus, one that appears like a standard Chinese takeout menu, and one that shows the Desi side of the kitchen. For me, that’s the reason to come here in the first place, so this is what we found. The Manchow soup($ 3) was recommended to me, and starts the meal out decently. It appears similar to hot & sour soup, but is very unlike it. The garlic taste is the strongest, and like its sibling, a sprinkle of white pepper on top does it well. The most«oohs» and«ahs» at this meal came from the pan-fried chicken($ 6), a plate of thinly sliced, breaded, and fried chicken of a dark brown-red color. The only problem is that it came less than brutally spicy, which we were told it would. The owners then told us straight up that they dumb their food down for white people, even when they ask for it to be made properly. This of course can be looked at two ways, either offensive, or you can empathize with them and all the costs they have to eat from people that could not handle the spices. I’ll let you decide. Because we were not so impressed, she did take the opportunity to make another batch for us, and the second attempt was really magnificent. Weirdly enough, it did not show up on the first bill we were presented and we thought it was comped, but DID show up after a credit card was given and ran. We did not mind paying for the food(which we did not ask for), but that’s very odd, and sort of shady. When you say«Himalayan» in the title of a place, you have to order the momos($ 6). We got the beef variety on her advice, which were decent but a bit bland. They tended more towards Chinese dumplings than their proper Tibetan equivalents, but the bright orange sauce they are served with really packed a punch. We also wanted some hakka noodles($ 8.50), and took her advice again to order the shrimp. It is served with a sweet sauce which is great to dump all over before serving, letting the noodles soak it up. It’s a tough dish to appreciate when all the others have a strong kick to them, but it is a good flavor balance nonetheless. Since it was lunch and we needed rice, we ordered two specials($ 6.95), the hot garlic fish and ginger chicken. The latter had a good heat was decent, while the former resembled sweet and sour Chinese takeout standards in both look and taste. Looming above our table on the non-descript printout of daily specials was mushroom datsi($ 9.95), which was great and very unique. Mushrooms and thick cheese, infused with fiery peppers. The faint of heart(stomach) can push these little guys to the side and enjoy the dish, but add them to your fork-fulls for complete bliss. A nice gesture at the end of the meal was a plate of tingmo, which always has a great texture and is enjoyable to eat, but really needs a soup or something to eat it with, as it does not have a great deal of taste. When we asked about fortune cookies(it’s Chinese takeout, come on!), she told us they have them for kids.

I’ve ordered delivery from here a couple of times. Mostly momo, noodles, and chicken dishes. It is very spicy(which is good), slightly greasy(not so good) but overall it’s really tasty. I don’t know what to call it. It’s not really Chinese, not Tibetan or Indian. But does it really matter what it is as long as it’s good?

*New* place in Jackson Heights, Queens for Chinese /Desi food. Located across the street from Trade Fair. Their menu is mostly Chinese… however, a few friends and I ordered the non-Chinese dishes. 1) Spicy Lemon Coriander Soup 2) Steamed Chicken Momos — The skin was a bit thick than I would have liked. There is no special sauce served with it. Boo. 3) Curry Fish Ball Noodle Soup 4) Shrimp Coriander Garlic — favorite dish out of the group 5) Fish Chili — the fish chili is marked as their specialty; MUSTGET Also noted on their menu — HALAL. Worth a trip to try!
