Now closed. :(An eventual victim of hurricane Sandy. A lost gem of Spanish food and quality service. Sad.

Sadly one of my favorites closed. My husband and I were lucky to go the 2nd to last day it was open on a whim. Felix the owner sold the business and retired. All the people that worked there supported this decision and were offered jobs with the new place but most decided to work closer to home.

The restaurant unfortunately has gone out of business. A Italian eatery is set to open soon at this location

Went to this place with a party of 7 for my cousin’s birthday. The décor is definitely outdated but I must say, the customer service here is excellent. The staff was very welcoming and paid attention to us. For an appetizer, I ordered the spare ribs and a french onion soup. Both were excellent. While we were eating our apps, they brought us out another appetizer on the house. For dinner, I had the chicken and rice. It was really good and they gave me 2 plate fulls. Also, when dinner came out, they gave us free homemade potato chips. I really enjoyed this place and will go back again soon.

Yum — Delicious tapas, sangria, and paella! What else do you need from a Spanish restaurant? The portions are large and you can easily share. Lots of space inside and the service was very good.

So disappointed. Worst meal I’ve had in a long time. There were 6 people in our group and no on finished their meals. We couldn’t leave the restaurant fast enough. If I could give zero starts I would. Service was average and the décor was dated. Also, they don’t take more than 2 credit card.

Went on a Sunday night with my boyfriend and his family to celebrate his birthday. The place is a little dated, but has a lot of charm. We all started with salads — nothing too special. The bread was tasty and warm. They sent out a cold mussels app that was absolutely delicious! Three of us shared two paellas and it was just enough for all 3 of us. The service was attentive and very funny. Overall would definitely return!

Started off with the shrimp ajeillo & red sangria. Both very good. We were given some kind of cold mussel dish«on the house» which was also good but I don’t know the name. Two of my family members had the paella and raved about it. I had the shrimp creole which came with saffron rice. There were at least 15 shrimp in my dish. I couldn’t finish my meal-so much food! Portions were all good size, paella especially. Décor is dated but Felix, the maitre de, is a cute old man with quick wit & entertained us throughout our dinner. We were all stuffed & satisfied. We will definitely return.

I’ll be going back to this place. I’ve passed it by literally hundreds of times and finally tried it. Now I wish I tried it sooner. The mariscada in green sauce was delicious(and messy) and the $ 20 bottle of Spanish wine we had was a great accompaniment to our meal. The design of the restaurant(both inside and out) was a bit dated but who cares when you have an adorable old man, who not only knows the food but definitely cares about it, take your order. There was a family feel to this place that was reflected in the attention to taste and quality of the food.

This is some sort of a disease, I can’t stop raving about Meson!!! Last night, we went there for my hubby’s birthday, and let me tell you, for Monday night, in a sleepy town of Island Park, the place had quite a few tables filled. The kids had excellent chicken fingers, which were chunks of white meat, lightly breaded and lightly fried, just perfect. I had lobster in garlic sauce, boy, was it nicely spiced and of course, a mess to it, I probably used like 20 paper napkins. Hubby had a steak. We washed down the meal with a bottle of Faustino V, highly recommend this wine, and of course, flan for the dessert. A fantastic, meal, a fantastic service, it felt like coming to your grandparents house. They were closed for a whole month after Sandy, I am so happy they are back in business!!!

It’s been about 10 years since I was last there, and now I remember why. I have never given just a 1 star rating before but was so disappointed by the quality of the food, it truly deserved it. The place only had 5 or so tables filled on a Saturday night… and here’s why: Salads appeared to be pre-made and sitting on plates in a fridge. Didn’t appear to be freshly made. Bread wasn’t anything wonderful. Unless you get drunk on sangria, you will taste the food for the quality it is. My fiancé had a shrimp and scallop casserole while I went with the Paella. The minute I swallowed the first scallop I knew I was in trouble. That tin aftertaste is a sure sign of bad seafood. Both of us ended up sick to our stomach all night. And please, anyone who knows good paella expects to find burned rice at the bottom… the best part… none to be found. The waiter wrapped up the rest of the food, but no way I would take it home. I left it outside my car where a group of stray cats had made home in the dumpster behind the restaurant.

What a fabulous meal!!! Three of us dined here last week for the first time and we will all be returning! First tip… red sangria!!! Go for the pitcher, you won’t be disappointed. For apps my table had the seafood soup(YUM) the garlic soup(not my favorite but traditional and tasty) and the shrimp anjillo(delicious). For my entrée I had the chicken villaroy and shrimp in green sauce combo. Next time ill probably just get the shrimp bc although the chicken was great it was a little dry for me. Two other entrees at my table was the paella Valencia(a must have) and the veal chop/shrimp scampi special. Wow! So much food and it was blissfully satisfying. Based on review recommendations we got the cheesecake which was good but didn’t blow me away. All in all a really great meal and the prices were definitely reasonable. Like I said before, I will be returning! Thanks to Felix who was wonderful to my parents and I!

This is absolutely the best Spanish food on Long Island! Ask for Paco the owner. Tell him Dennis sent you! You will love the food. Try the Mariscada and Shrimp in Green Sauce! Great Sangria too. We go here all the time. A++++++++++++

Meson Iberia is without a doubt a hidden treasure. I had driven past it many a time before being told to actually dine there. If you’re looking for some quality, authentic Spanish cuisine on the Island, look no further. The owner is very friendly and makes chit chat with all of the customers. The waitstaff is friendly and cordial as well. There are many great appetizers, such as the garlic soup, the shrimp in green sauce, baked clams, choriza, pulpo, and many more. For the entrees. there are quality Spanish dishes(the Paella is a must!) and good choices of fishes and meats(I like the black angus with garlic sauce). For dessert, the people I was with ordered a chocolate mousse and a cheesecake respectively. I wasn’t going to order any dessert, but then I tried a little of each, and no kidding, I called the waiter over and ordered one of EACH for myself! I rarely ever order two desserts, but I just couldn’t resist! And mind you, I have never been a big fan of cheesecake or chocolate mousse!

My boyfriend & I were in search for the perfect Tapas restaurant, so we decided to try Meson Iberia. We went on a Saturday night. It is a family owned restaurant with great service, all of the waitstaff was very friendly and accommodating. We ordered a number of Tapas dishes; Chorizo, Octopus, Spare Ribs, Clams, and Stuffed Mushrooms. All of the tapas were great, they were cooked and tasted amazing. We were not sure if they would be enough, so we ordered Paella. We should have just stuck with the Tapas because the Paella was huge! The Paella was good, maybe a little too salty for me, and filled with plenty of seafood, and served with the amazing homemade spanish potato chips. We also ordered the white sangria, which was DELICIOUS! Overall I would highly recommend this restaurant! We received a tip from the waiter, to try the Tapas during the week, he said they usually offer more authentic dishes.

My absolutely favorite restaurant in the entire New York area. A family owned and operated Spanish restaurant with a great casual atmosphere, large portions, good prices, and fantastic food. Free cold mussels covered in a tasty relish topping. This is an appetizer I would order on it’s own merit. And free homemade Spanish potato chips. Some of my faves: If you like Lobster Bisque, PLEASE try the Seafood Catalana soup. Rich, creamy, and full of large chunks of assorted shellfish and seafood. The baby ribs appetizer is in a really sweet, fruity BBQ sauce that I’ve never had anyplace else. Falling-off-the-bone tender, it’s a must-try for the table. All the paellas are served in a pot, huge portion, and you can add a ½ 1 ¼ lb lobster for a few bucks extra. Guaranteed doggy bag. Their version of surf & turf: a Huge, thick cut veal chop served with shrimp scampi… my guest couldn’t stop talking about it. The NY cut steak was thick and fork tender… excellent cut of meat oh, the cheesecake is in a caramel sauce, and yummy. And the Flan is a must-try. I could go on, but It’s worth the trip to go try it yourself. Oh, and the prices are surprisingly reasonable.

Service was excellent. I’d definitely recommend the red wine sangria and chorizo and clams appetizer. We weren’t overwhelmed by the entrees but the Sausage & Pork and Veal entrees were enjoyable.

Authentic Spanish/Porguese food. My wife got the Churizo and yellow rice… it was simple… she said it was fine. I enjoyed the Paella(shrimp, clams, mussels, chicken and Churizo). What makes this a special place is the service. They knew we were newbies so they gave us free cold mussels as an appetizer… the they brought out free Spanish chips… amazing. For dessert we got coffee and the Peaches Melba and Flan. The Flan was tremendous. We would go again but definitely order something else for our entrees. This place was pricey… but for the service it was almost worth it.

Meson is a good Spaniard restaurant in Long Beach, one of those close places right on the beach but only a few minutes North of the LB Bridge. When I first walked in this establishment I felt like I was at home. I believe the waiters are family of the owner. I was seated by one of the bothers of the owner and I think I actually saw either the mother or sister cooking in the back. As far as food we had: — garlic soup which was very garlicky and flavorful — Paella which was full of flavor and definitely did not lack all of the fixings aka seafood. But when it comes to something you MUST order, order the Red wine sangria. One of the best I have had and I have had lots of sangria from all over. Good place to come and have dinner or just sit at the bar and have some sangria. Prices are very reasonable and atmosphere is very welcoming.
