Always a great place to go to when in the central jersey area. I have been coming to this place forever and it’s the only one. Over the last 3 years I have been in Texas so I know Tex-mex and creole. This is better Tex-Mex than some of the places in Texas and that says a lot. Today I get my norm of chicken and chorizo étouffée. Quite a good dish highly recommend. Huge portions of the étouffée with a large serving of rice. Really tasty. My father got the blackened catfish with jambalaya. It was My recommendation for my father. He loved it. The blacken catfish has just enough punch from the blackening spice. And the catfish itself has that nice smooth texture to accompany it down. But by far the best part of both these dishes are the cornbread slices that comes with it. If you’re in the area I highly recommend. It’s the only one.

1. Not authentic Mexican food… It’s Tex mex first off. And average at best 2. Margaritas a good but the pour is short usually less than an 1oz of alcohol. 3. I have never been spoken to to so rudely by anyone in the service industry, the one managers rolled at my girlfriend made her cry, and told her to leave and go somewhere else after she had been waiting in line for 45 minutes. She was just asking when our table was ready. I had to get into an argument with the ASSISTMANAGER, Adix, claiming he was the manager. Turns out because they wouldn’t let us in they gave our table away 45 minutes earlier. The worst service I have ever experienced. They seated us eventually realizing their mistake. Ticket times are amazing your order and the food come within 15 minutes or less. Will never be going here again

Went for the first time with a couple friends for lunch. And i am in love with the food and drinks. The mango margarita was yummy and perfect size. The free salsa and chips tasted great and fresh. My husband ordered the quesadilla which had a lot of cheese and thus became soggy. I ordered plate of chicken taco and enchilada. The chicken filling was a little too much for me but overall i enjoyed it. The rice and beans that came with my plate was yummy. I will be going back to try more drinks and other food. PS: be prepared to wait as it gets very very packed

drinks and appetizer’s are great I’d give it 5 stars if it weren’t for the long waits to sit and the service isn’t that great. the server acted as if we she was doing us a favor. just prefer a little more friendly polite service. if your having a bad day it’s never the customers fault!

Jose Tejas is one of my favorite Spanish restaurants. I am completely obsessed with enchiladas and they have by far the most delicious enchiladas. It’s ridiculously well priced at about $ 6-$ 7. They give free chips and salsa, while you wait for your meal. It’s a fun atmosphere, always packed and loud. *** They are always busy, weekdays and weekends, so expect a long wait anywhere from 30min– 1 ½ hrs. But I can assure you that the food is worth it. Fun place to go with a group or just two people. ***Unfortunately they don’t have dessert, but their portions are so full that you won’t have any room when you’re done eating.

If Bubba Gump and Del Taco had a baby, Jose Tejas would be it; Margaritaville is the«side chick,» though, because Bubba Gump keeps it «3hunna»(I don’t even know what that means). Millennial humor aside, Jose Tejas is the«it» restaurant of Iselin and the surrounding areas. Specializing in Tex-Mex and Cajun/Creole dishes, you know for darn sure that Corona and margaritas will be served. The ambiance reflects it – it’s very social, lively, and Tex-Mex-y with a little Creole flare thrown in somewhere. Given how popular this place is, expect the place to be packed. Pastelitos: These warm and flaky little puffs of fried dough are stuffed with a savory chicken-cilantro filling, and served with a Chimi Verde sauce on the side. Pastelitos make a great appetizer to share with your table. The only downside is that they are topped with salt, which is unfortunate since the complementary chips(with salsa) are quite salty already. Cup of Gumbo: I kid you not, the last bowl of gumbo I ate was from Popeye’s when I was in high school. However, the gumbo here is tastier, for sure. The rice is cooked to the right texture and tenderness, while the flavorful and aromatic gravy comes through with the spices blending well with the savory sausage and vegetables. Crawfish Étouffée: The étouffée was delicious! While there was plenty of crawfish thrown in, I love the fact that the crawfish itself is not salty; it made the dish much more enjoyable. Like the gumbo, the herbs and spices do not overwhelm this dish. If you do not like shellfish, there is a chicken and sausage étouffée if you prefer that instead. Also, I loved the corn bread! It was soft and crumbly, with just the right amount of sweetness. My table also ordered Beef Burro and the Marinated Chicken Enchiladas. I did not personally try either one, but both were said to be flavorful. Both the burro and enchiladas were stuffed with a generous amount of meat; they are both served with rice, beans, and pico de gallo on a bed of lettuce. The guacamole on the enchilada plate was extra. Overall, this place is pretty good. Jose Tejas is a crowd-pleaser, having a variety of Tex-Mex and Creole dishes to choose from. The prices are definitely affordable and the portions are great. Simply put, Jose Tejas is where Louisiana, Texas, and Mexico collide. Who Dat, vato.

I come often I try to come early an stuff my fat face early before the crowd comes, an that usually never happens bc I always end up waiting 30 – 40 min. There food is great not bad for Tex Mex There staff is very friendly, an the food comes out pretty fast. Frozen Margaritas are bomb. com amazing I recommend the empanadas there dipping sauce is very good Enchiladas are delicious my husband usually gets this, I love the chicken burrito I can never finish the whole thing but it’s a great left over for lunch the next day. Very tasty an filling. Only thing I didn’t like was a peace of art work hand crafted onto the wall with a lady with her boob out nipple an all. I mean it’s ok I’m not one of those ppl who overly exaggerate BUT this is a family restaurant an my 4 year old son actually noticed it an was very bothered an disturbed by it. He made a few other tables turn to look at the painting an even they where a bit bothered by the boob /nipple showing.

Fantastic place for brunch or lunch! There was no waiting line and they served us right away. The waiter was very helpful on making sure that me and my friend was getting settle. She came right away asking us what drinks we wanted and came back in two minute with water and tomato salsa with chips! The foods here are very tasty and cheap! I ordered chicken burros it was great just a little too salty. My friend enjoyed the beef burros and said it delicious. This place have wonderful service! Definitely a place people should go during lunch and dinner. The restaurant itself is at a great location with many parking spots. They have a outside area with benches and inside environment has great decoration that make you feel like home.

My god, I love this place. I wish one would open up on Long Island. The atmosphere is very down to earth and has a Tex/Mex feel. I’ve gone a dozen times on my own while traveling for work, and yes the picture below is my table for one. Judge me. The chicken fajitas here are my go to. The order comes with enough food to fill me for an entire day. The guac here is fantastic, and I get it every time, even though chips and salsa(bangin good!) are always free and are really good. Never had a bad experience here and I’ve been with a group of 12+ coworkers in the past. Very accommodating and great food!

I came with my boyfriend on a Saturday night and the parking lot was a crazy mess due to the sheer amount of people at this place. And when we were told that the wait was 1 hour and twenty minutes, we wanted to leave. Then we looked outside at the parking lot and we decided to stay because getting out of the parking lot itself was going to take 30 minutes. The wait was about 40 minutes total and it was so worth it! We hung out at the bar and had drinks and some chips and salsa so it wasn’t a bad wait. Although the whole place was crowded, and people kept shuffling in and out of the bar area, it wasn’t too badlh crowded where it was unbearable. We ordered the steak and the taco & enchilada combo. We also had a mango margarita. I absolutely love the atmosphere and the food was amazing. The service, although it was very busy, did not seem lacking. The waiter was very attentive. Overall, the menu was extensive and food was great! Ambience was really good as well, and for someone that doesn’t drink, the mango margarita was banging! Will definitely come back, but at a time to avoid the wait. Either way, the place was packed the moment we got in at 7:45 to when we left at 10:00, so if that doesn’t tell you that Jersey loves Jose Tejas, I don’t know what does!

I went here at 8:00pm on a Saturday night. I knew this place would be bumping but wow, maneuvering through th parking lot was more difficult than driving through times Square. Regardless, after 20 minutes of circling every through lane, I finally got a parking spot. My girlfriend and I went in to put our name in and it was an hour and twenty minute wait. We waited in the bar and a server came to Us and delivered drinks and a basket of chips. It was really convenient since the wait was so long. Finally after around 50 minutes we were seated. I ordered a mango Margarita and it was affordable and flavorful. Really went down smooth. In terms of dishes my girlfriend ordered the enchilada and the two with a side of rice and beans and I ordered the flank steak. Both dishes were very very delicious. What makes this place fantastic is the Combination of the affordable prices, the great services, delicious menu options and smooth drinks. Go here. Worth the wait.
