Pretty good lunch spot. I ordered the Big State burger. They cook a bunch of burgers at once and then slap it on the grill to warm it but when I got it, it was barely warm. Don’t think I’ll be getting the burger again. Fries were great.

The décor was adorable and the service was friendly and attentive. The onion rings and fries were virtually perfect. Unfortunately the burgers were just okay.

First visit. I sat at the bar. It was 7pm so not crowded. The tables and counters were all clean and fresh looking. Oldies music plays on the juke box. One of the waitresses occasionally goes over and skips a song she doesn’t care for. A regular walked in and was greeted by his first name and brought his usual without even asking for it :-) Everyone was attentive and friendly and checked back regularly. I had the chili cheese burger. My order was delivered perfectly as I ordered it, with the onions grilled and with most toppings on the side. The chili was amazing, I’d go back again just to have it again. The burger was well done but not at all dry. The burger is served with home-made chips, which I have always liked and these were good chips. I got a side salad and drink, my total was just over $ 11. They have a souvenir shop with candy varieties and even had some clearance Christmas items.

It is refreshing to find that there are still these kinds of places around. Super friendly staff and great food. I had the holing sandwich with chili and cheese and fries. Very good and it was a real hotlink, not just a sausage like most places give you. I will definitely try a milkshake on my next visit.

I got the Goose burger and fries, Hubby got the Big American and Onion rings. The burgers were nothing special. Average. My fries were lukewarm. The place is very neat and the service was good. Has a lot of memorabilia and that old Soda Fountain feel. If I came back this way, I might come here again. I would not make a special trip.

I’ve been here once for breakfast and once for lunch. It’s nice to be served by people that actually like their job or at least pretend to. The food is pretty good and a good value. Some of the menu has weird pricing. My 3 piece steak finger meal was $ 3.95 but the 5 piece meal is $ 6.95. I don’t care one way or another about it but it was goofy to me.

Walking into this place was like walking into my great-grandparent’s diner in the 1950’s. The twirling bar stools, the delectable looking cakes on their stands, and the vintage milkshake machine take you back to a different time. On our first trip a few months ago, we tried their breakfast. The coffee mugs are just the right weight(if that matters to you) and the coffee itself is good. The basic scrambled eggs, bacon, and scattered hash browns for breakfast will fuel you all morning. The waitress was attentive and friendly, even offering us a coffee to go on our way out. On a second trip(today) we tried lunch. The onion rings were fantastic, with just the right batter to onion ratio. As much as I liked everything else about this place, I would skip the hamburger next time and try the BLT. The patty on the burger left much to be desired. Overall, I highly recommend this spot, especially for a yummy breakfast.

What a sensational, timeless spot! The classic 40’s ‘feel’ is certainly unmistakeable, and the service is on-spot for diner-lore of old. The menu is expansive and priced extremely competitively. As it would happen, during my first visit, Fort-Worth NBC was there during an interview with the surprisingly young female owner. Neat.

First time there. Sat at the bar. Atmosphere and service was great. Food was delicious. I had the Goose Combo Burger(Big State cheeseburger with a grilled hot link on top). I ordered it because it was a combo that I haven’t had on a burger before and I was curious. Well, it was excellent. The burger was hot and juicy(not overcooked), toppings were fresh and the hot link… the hot link made this sandwich«over the top». I will be getting this again. …soon. I read one review that said the burgers weren’t very big, but I’m six-two and I struggled a little getting my mouth around this thing. My P.I.C. had the John Lennon Grilled Cheese(American cheese, bacon, tomato and jalapeños on Texas toast). She isn’t a big eater, but there was nothing left by the time my burger was gone so I didn’t get to try it. It did look good though. We both also had ice cream sodas and they were really good too. While there we heard some people singing happy birthday and spun around expecting the normal little kids party, but to our delight it was a group of about six«seventy-somethings» celebrating one of their birthdays. It was sweet.

Awesome spot with a great environment. I can’t remember what my burger was called, it was on Texas toast and was perfect as were the Tots and cherry limeade. The staff were happy and so nice, a great midweek lunch experience! I took a slice of cake to go, and I’m sure it will be just as good.

Thank you owners of Stroker’s for bringing back Big State! Walking into Big State is like walking into a time machine. You can feel the history as soon as you sit down. The menu is full of classic soda shop delights as well as new creations to make you salivate. I had a hard time deciding between steak fingers or grilled cheese. I chose the John Lennon Grilled Cheese! You’re probably thinking«why would she spend money on something you can make at home?» Well let me tell you… it has BACON, TOMATO, and JALAPENO!!! That’s why! It came with homemade kettle chips but you can upgrade to onion rings, tater tots, or french fries! I washed it down with a root beer float and cherry pie! The atmosphere and our server was stellar! I was so full I needed to be rolled out– which they will do if you ask nicely! There are all kinds of souvenirs and pictures of Irving history and Dallas. If you haven’t stopped in, do it soon! There is a huge menu and you will have to make multiple visits to try them all!(Still licking lips!!)

I recently moved to Irving and one day I drove by Big Fountain and loved how it looked so vintage and cute so I decided to go one day! The moment I walked it I loved the atmosphere! There was a Beatles song playing in the back ground so I instantly loved it there. I ordered the John Lennon grilled cheese and it was perfectly cooked, with crispy fries on the side along with a delicious chocolate milk shake! Since I was so happy with my experience, I’ve taken every single one of my friends that visits Irving and they have loved it as well! Totally recommend to anyone :)

This is Irving Eats Go To Grill. Superb Malts and Shakes and the staff gets creative. Time may be running out on being known as the«Best Breakfast Deal in Texas» as survival of the $ 2.99 crowd favorite is under review. With chalkboard specials, BOGO Burgers, designer chips and world famous Stroker Fries BSFG is a must visit. Hint: Try Ma’s Bologna Sandwich, yes, bologna!

Visiting this diner did step you back in time, not way back but far enough. Far enough to a time when your business was appreciated and it meant something for the customer to be satisfied. We had one main waitress and another who was just as cheerful as could be. She spoke to my mom and I like we were old friends. I ordered a basic burger and it melted in my mouth. One of our waitresses brought us some Cajun ranch she made to try. If you’re lucky she might have made some. It’s not a staple anymore. The jukebox plays some oldies and there are gifts to shop as well. To top off my experience I got a strawberry milkshake which was delightful, flavorful and thick! My mom and I can’t wait to take my grandma there.

Very good food and cool environment. And a very iconic place to eat in Irving, Texas. I was so sad when the original owner closed it but Mr. Fairless a Irving resident bought it and revamped it and I love it. If you want great food this is the best in town. They have breakfast and all kinds of other food including burgers and shakes to die for!

The atmosphere here was fun based on the décor. We had breakfast and the pancake was huge and pretty standard in flavor. My friends tried a veggie omelet(not on menu) and liked it pretty well.

So ready to go back tomorrow for lunch. Only had time to for a float and it was GREAT. Our serve Sandy was so kind and extremely nice. We came in two minutes before close, and was not aware. Sandy was so kind we would’ve never known we were putting her out, if it was not for the other staff that were so excited to end of their day. So excited to try it again tomorrow. For lunch. I saw a hamburger fries and onion rings look so delicious … It was mouthwatering just to see. I’ll let you know how lunch goes.

For an old time diner like this, you can’t beat it! Right in the midst of downtown Irving, you can find this little diner very colorful, fun, and friendly. I like the old time diner feel and how they’ve brought this place back to life(even though this is my first time here). The waitress’ and waiters are VERY friendly! The food itself was good too!!! The burger buns were soft and yummy, and the patties had the cheese melted on it FLAWLESSLY! I didn’t get to try any of their milkshakes or floats, although I wish I had :(but that can wait until next time! My only gripe about the place is that it could be a little on the pricey side when you’re looking to have a hamburger. We got a double cheeseburger, a regular cheese burger, Cajun cheese fries, and a root beer… The total came out to $ 20. The patties were a decent 5−6″ in diameter, so it’s smaller compared to other burger joints. There’s TVs placed around the diner, a huge counter top where you can sit to eat, or choose from booth to tables. I would say the max capacity of the diner will hold about 50 – 60 people? There’s also a lot of cool things to look at and purchase that you wouldn’t be able find in most stores either. Overall, I had a pretty good experience, and I HAVE to go back to try out the desserts and goodies!
