American Solar Direct

Door to door salesmen did not have proper soliciting permit from the City of Irvine, which per the city’s website that it is illegal and are subject to fines and/​or arrest. I asked to see the permit immediately after opening my door and they said that they have one and tried to bring it up on their tablet for over 10 minutes while discussing their product. They kept on saying that they have the permit and that the password was changed and cannot find it.
Whether this is true, it is irrelevant. The permit is to let people know that they are screened and are allowed to do this. If they cannot even print the permit out to bring it to them, they should not be going door to door. Aside from not having a permit, they came to my door after dark, which is also illegal per the city website. If a company cannot even comply with the most basic laws of door to door soliciting, I will consider it an illegitimate business.

We got online in February and I have to say Thank you American Solar. The whole team was great from start to finish. They upgraded our electrical panel, reroofed most of our home and even upgraded the gas meter. It is so nice not feeling guilty when I turn on the air-​conditioner at home! Very happy and totally recommend!

I have been with this company for 4 years and when we first had them installed everything was fine and ran smoothly. Then they were taken over by another company and changed their address to San Diego from LA. I was unaware of the take over and sent my monthly checks to their LA office. Their customer service reps hounded us daily about the unpaid bills even after I called them and explained the problem. The were unable to locate any of the checks that were sent by customers to the LA PO box, and were not helpful at all in finding a solution to the problem of the missing checks. I had to call my bank and cancel the checks and reissue new checks to them. Not sure about this takeover but it seems a bit problematic. Since the takeover, I have had salesmen from ASD at my door asking if I have solar ??? Unbelievable… They are unaware of their own customers. The sales calls from them are continual as well, trying to sell us more panels. The original amount was not enough. They did the analysis! This new company is obviously trying to squeeze us for more money. Im sick of their salesmen and their very poor customer service. I asked them to please stop calling and hounding us.

Our consultant was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions thoroughly. He was seriously interested in saving us money and helping out the environment. Installation was done in one day. Very friendly crew! Since going solar the savings were instant. First month we had a negative electric bill! We couldn’t be happier. American Solar Direct is a great company!

Steve my salesman for the company was terrific. He called me back every time I had a question. The staff and crews were very friendly also. They came out for every detail and did not hesitate with anything or any changes that were made.
My hats off to American Solar!
