Al is a fantastic stylist! I first starting going to Al over a year ago after a friend referred me and have been 100% happy with my hair ever since. He always does a great job of incorporating the styles I show him in pictures with a cut that will translate to easy maintenance at home, which is super important to me. Any time I’ve gone to an outside salon, I manage to get a cut that looks ok when it’s been blow-​dried and meticulously styled but looks terrible the next day. With Al, you get a sleek, modern cut that looks awesome every day. Al is professional, consistent, affordable, communicative, and passionate about his work — If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!

This place is overpriced. I see the way they process people’s hair. They just want the look. They don’t care how they do it. They destroy your hair and they charge you ridiculous price. I feel like a fool after waited around for 4 hours, got hair trimmed straight by half an inch and paid $ 70. I don’t need a professional hair stylist to do a simple job like that.

Al is so nice! He definitely knows what he’s doing. I’ve had past hair dressers not listen to what I want done to my hair but all does the opposite he listens to exactly what you want and talks you through the process. I strongly recommend Al, you won’t be disappointed.

Great haircut and atmosphere! many of my friends and my girlfriend go to Al for haircuts and color. He is an expert and understands your hair texture. He can find the best hairstyle for you, I only trust him with my hair. I definitely recommend him!!!

I am no stranger to Japanese hair straightening. I’ve got it done over 8 times in the last five years at different salons.
I decided to book an appointment with Ali only after I called him to confirm that he used the Yuko system. He said yes. This Yuko system was further mentioned several times on his website and Facebook page in great detail. Great! I thought. I am paying a lot of money for a high value product and I’ll get stick straight hair.
The results could not have been worse. After the procedure my hair was completely fried — dry, damaged and looked like I had put my finger in an electrical socket. Ali must have noticed this because he kept putting smooth serum on his finished result and went over my hair several times with a flat iron it make it straight! You are NOT supposed to do this. Flat ironing Japanese straightened hair is the worst thing for hair that is already processed with very harsh chemicals. Not only are you not supposed to do this, you should not need to do this. If the procedure was done properly, with the proper chemicals, japanese straightened hair should come out soft, silky and stick straight!
My hair was fried. I called Ali the next day and told him About my hair and how upset o was. I asked him to confirm that he used the Yuko system (I’ve done my hair several times with Yuko and the results have never turned up like this!). He hesitantly said he used the Matrix smoothing system. What? Excuse me? I just paid you a fortune to put a relaxer/​smoother on me hair that is the cheapest available on the market and should never be labelled «japanese straightening». Completely unacceptable and false advertising!
Ali said that his website mentions both Yuko (the original Japanese hair straightening) and Matrix (a smoothing system!). I reviewed his website again and noticed that matrix was mentioned once at the very bottom of the page. The large paragraph above it and the entire rest of the website talks about the Yuko system.
I checked the matrix system website and no where on there, not once, does it mention the matrix smoothing system as a japanese straightening. False advertising and I feel completely scammed! I had called him prior to booking my appointment and he told me he uses Yuko! What a scam.
Do not be swayed by the good Unilocal reviews as they all talk about HAIR CUTS, not Japanese straightening. He is a barber. He cuts men’s hair. I’m sure he’s great at that. If your looking for proper Japanese straightening, look elsewhere!
Completely devastated. Now I have to pay another fortune for someone to fix his horrible mistake. Scam artist.

Al is professional, charming, honest, trendy, and an all around amazing stylist. I’m thrilled I finally found a good stylist.

When looking for a stylist, I rely on 2 things: talent and friendliness. When I came to Al for the first time, I instantly knew I had found both. I didn’t know what to do with my hair, but I knew I wanted a change and he helped me find a style that not only «fits» me but one that I love. I now go to him for all advice about my hair among many other things!

My first visit last month was a pleasure. Al greeted me warmly, and took his time in discussing my hair and the best options for a cut to fit my face and personality.

5 stars!!! Right from the get go he offers water or beverages to make me more comfortable. He’s very friendly and always makes me laugh. He always knows the modern hairstyles and will always know what I ask. He is careful with every detail and takes time to make sure everything is perfect. Highly recommend Alire to anyone who is tired of getting bad haircuts and want to look great.

Ali is definitely the best hairstylist I have ever been to. My hair is extremely difficult to work with being Asian and having flat/​frizzy hair. He treats his clients with such care and attention that I never see any other stylist. If you have had any trouble finding someone to understand your hair, come to alire.
I highly recommend Alire to anyone looking for someone that genuinely cares about making you look GOOD.

After a year still going to Ali for both my son and my hair. He does a great job listening and is very accurate. His real skill though is asking him what you «should» do with your hair. Tell him how much effort you are willing to invest each day and he is able to see how your hair acts with that much effort and give great advice. Me personally, I want no product and less then 5 minutes. He was able to take my laziness and find a way to change what I did every day with much better results. He is a great value.

Al Cuts and Colors my Hair and I always feel 10 years younger when Al finishes my Hair. My Son and Daughter also go to Al for their Hair needs!

I will definitely come back to Ali! He is so professional and polite and he took my hair to a better state. I came in with dry damaged highlights and he transformed it into shiny healthy looking hair in 2 hours. The services I received were highlights and a haircut. I also got a really great deal by checking out his Facebook page, which he constantly updates.

After trying out some different hair styling places, I finally came to Alire Hair Design. Walking into the store, my first impressions of the place were that the staff was welcoming and the setting was neat. My designer was a middle-​aged middle-​eastern man named AL. He immediately greeted me with warmth, and asked a few concise questions to determine exactly what i wanted. Al immediately went to work on my hair. We casually conversed throughout, and after 20 minutes, my hair was done. I’ll have to admit out of all the times when i go to hair designing shops, the stylist rarely gives me the look that i specifically had in mind. But Al gave me a pleasant suprise when he finished with my hair looking nearly identical to what i originally had in mind. I gave a large tip, and believed that he deserved every cent.
I highly recommend this Alire’s Hair Design, and this shop will definitely be my hair shop in the future!
