Church of the Highlands

This is a typical mega church. The minister does not even list his email on the site!
Does he think he is a rock star ?
If Christ were here he would list his email.
Also they do not pay the church greeters but the minister is paid very well.
He needs to be greeting people himself instead of hiding in his office.
Alabama has millions of uninsured residents. When will he address this?
He needs to follow the 10 commandments!

The message of the church and mission gets a 5 star. However, even though they pride themselves on small groups, there needs to be more attention paid to the hierarchy of the Church and its employees in how they treat others. Too much drama and self autonomy, and not enough emphasis on the real meaning of fellowship; and often goes unchecked.

You’ll never find a more welcoming group of people. You be anonymous if you want, and you can get involved as you want. If you need a church home, or if you’re curious, come visit. Besides, getting a free cup of Primavera coffee ain’t bad! I love my church, because you get to see Jesus as He really is.

Such a wonderful place that’s full of energy, friendly people, wonderful music and such an inspirational pastor.(s). If you’ve not attended a service, check out Grants Mill location for your first time, then when you fall in love with the church you can find a location closer to your home.

Highlands was referred to me by a coworker and I couldn’t be happier. Coming from Atlanta, I attended Mega Church Northpoint where I loved the worship and Pastor Andy Stanley. Let me tell you, Highlands is every bit as good. The worship is phenomenal, and pastor Chris is great. Easy place to bring friends to and many groups to be involved with. Fantastic experience!

I quite like my church. I grew up attending Episcopal services, which were all about «pew Olympics»… essentially it was, as a tshirt I saw at church camp read, «JV Catholic.» When studying abroad I went to a church called HTB (Holy Trinity Brompton) and their casual, come as you are, modern music-​filled services were novel and exciting to me. After living in London and being a regular attendee at HTB, that mindset became standard.
With this huge paradigm shift in what «church» is and can be, I was a bit adrift when I moved back to Birmingham. Obviously the more traditional churches weren’t going to fulfill me like HTB. So, I finally caved and called up a friend who went to Highlands and asked if I could go with her and just check it out. Stepping onto the grounds of the massive complex, I was uncertain, but when the auditorium doors swung open and I heard familiar Hillsong tunes, I knew I was home.
My dad refers to places like HTB and Highlands as Rock N Roll Church, and I have to agree. When you take the religion out of it, and make it all about Jesus and the Bible, you have an awesome place to worship, fellowship, and grow spiritually without pew Olympics getting in the way. While I still miss the mind-​jarring juxtaposition of a huge rock band and flat screen TVs placed inside of a centuries old cathedral (HTB takes over old churches in London, restores them, and then has their own unique style of services inside), Highlands has filled a void in my life I was worried wouldn’t be filled.
One little complaint: in London we ALWAYS went to the pub after the 4:30 and 6:30PM services for a pint or glass of wine. I really miss that. I know there is a significant cultural difference between Americans and Brits re: alcohol consumption/​abuse/​etc, but it allowed everyone to have a healthy relationship with drinking because it wasn’t hidden or taboo. Overindulging wasn’t an option, it was just simply a continuation of the fellowship that began at church. I miss that time spent making friends, laughing, and then walking home in the chilly air. Maybe I should figure out a solution…

Love this church! We came last Sunday for the first time and we absolutely love it. Great child care, praise music, message and great people! If your looking for a church you must visit Church of the Highlands at one of their many locations!

Who knew you could review a church on Unilocal.So this absolutely has to be hands down my most favorite thing about Auburn. It is definitely one of the few reasons I have stayed here for so long. I LOVE my church. For more reasons than I can state. I LOVE pastor Chris. He brings the word of God every Sunday with so much power and conviction. I had an issue with the church in general a few years back, primarily because of the finger pointing and judgmental attitude that seemed so prevalent. Not at Highlands. Still yet to find that at Highlands. I love the fact that they have many services during the day so I can always get to church despite my crazy work schedule. I LOVE the fact they give away so many things for free. Definitely my idea of what church should be like. LOVE, LOVE worship. And my small group. I could go on and on. If you are looking for a great church in Auburn (or better still the most amazing church you’ve ever been to) definitely visit Highlands. You would understand my sentiments!
