One of our stops on our road trip was Iowa City. We were able to get one king bed for the night. The room was very clean and included tv, microwave, a fridge and a coffee maker. Sorry, no ice machine. Pros — Reservation also includes parking, wifi and breakfast(box cereal, pop tart, donuts, coffee and orange juice)

I had an accident on the way home and had to stay here. THe staff was so helpful and they were pet friendly!(I had an 8 week old puppy with me). The room was large and comfy. And so clean. I cannot say enough kind things about how wonderful they were. I was comfortable and safe after a rather traumatic experience and they made that happen. I would stay there again. Recently renovated, the rooms were huge and they have free wifi., a fridge and a microwave in the rooms. THey do have suites with full kitchens for longer stays. I stayed in a two Queen size bed room, and I think it was the biggest I have ever stayed in a moderately priced hotel. Thank you to everyone there. You have a wonderful place.

I really wish I would have taken one more minute to read reviews before making my last minute reservation. My feedback to this establishment is to advertise exactly what you are offering and you will get four and five star reviews every time. To include«luxury suites» in your name is misleading. In this era of pampered people, luxury means(at least by my definition) no short cut on amenities. Linoleum flooring, Formica countertops, white walls with no pictures and a fabricated desk are all fine, but maybe not«luxury» Our first observation was this was a renovated old place and when we arrived at our room my first comment was about the smell. A combination of chemical smell and mold. I was a little anxious about breathing that smell for 12 hours but in an effort to be open minded and not cause a fuss I told myself it would be fine for a night. I just hate to throw $ 100 down for no experience. We like natural, organic, healthful… And I wasn’t getting that kind of karma at all. Breakfast included pop tarts, muffins, donuts, sweet cereal, chewy granola bars, milk juice and coffee. All carb and sugar. Nothing healthful:( This was a poor fit for us but it sounds like if you want friendly staff and pet friendly, you found the place

I am only going to give this 2 stars because the lady at the desk was very nice! The review below me is exactly what I was going to say! I only stayed in this room for 1 day and it was the«cheapest’ place I can find within a mile of U of Iowa. For the price I wish I stayed at Motel 6! I will tell you why. The worst thing is the smell. This place is very VERY old. It is all dark grand mother green and burgundy red. The room was weird. You open the door and it has 2 separate rooms inside. A closet with the microwave and fridge to your right and the bathroom on the left. The bathroom is huge because of the whirlpool(which I used and enjoyed). The room have green old curtains. You open the window and there are no screens. So I kept them closed for safety because anyone could climb in there. The worst thing is the smell! The smell is a mix of mold and chemicals??! I had to have the window open a bit to air it out. What is it? Is it just an old smell? But this really affected me stay. It smell very bad. One more thing I did not like is the toilet is also old. So it will flush for a long time unless I reflush it again… and I can still hear it. Don’t expect card keys, you are getting the old fashion key and keychain. I had to make sure my door was locked because you can jiggle it open if you really tried. I have to attend U of Iowa for meetings and I am just going to pay more to stay at the Sheraton. I just can’t stand that smell!

I wanted to like this Inn. My family and I were in the area and needed a place to stay for one night and we ended up here. It was a last minute decision and I am not sure it was the best choice. I probably should have paid more to stay at a chain hotel, but we like to try the smaller, Mom and Pop places. I took a leap of faith(no prior Unilocal reviews) and tried this place. The front desk clerk in the evening and in the morning were both lovely and very helpful. The rooms were clean and the sheets and the bedding, as well as the beds, were new. The huge downside was that there was this terrible smell in the room, and no matter what we tried to do, we couldn’t get the smell out of the room or the hallways. It wasn’t smoke, but it was like a chemical smell that gave my son a huge headache and nearly made us leave. My husband went out and purchased some Febreze which helped. The format for our room was odd. There were two bedrooms, one with a sliding glass door to the porch. The porch seemed safe and the weather was great, but there weren’t any chairs on the porch for us to use and there were no smaller chairs in the hotel room. Each room was connected by an entryway and there was not a living room or common space. The carpet was a dark green and the popcorn cielings had dim, off center lights. The A/C worked well, but it was only in one room with a vent into the other room, so one of the rooms was a tad less«breezy» therefore making it harder to remove the smell. The patio doors were nearly impossible to open and the window didn’t have a screen, so we closed the curtains to avoid the bugs. The fridge was a nice touch, even if it was smooshed into the cloest in the entry way, and the jacuzzi tub was excellent fun. We enjoyed that and my son soaked off the headache in that room. The wi-fi was spotty and didn’t realy work well in our room. My son said he saw a router on the main floor so I am not sure why we struggled with it. The price was 109.00/night which I thought was a little steep for this hotel and we could have stayed at a Marriott for 150.00/night which I am wondering if that might not have been better. We didn’t sleep too well because of the road noises, but we HAD to leave the windows open because of the smells. I would probably try another location if you are looking!
