Terrible!!! Don’t go to this store poor treatment by racist running this store! And the inventory was not even good! We are from out of town and could not believe this treatment by the old man running the store! I even put my products on the counter as I continued shopping so he wouldn’t think I was stealing. He was very rude! There. Are way better beauty supply stores in the area!!!

I’ve been a Unilocal leech for years, using reviews to make nearly every decision about which businesses I patronize from weavologists to orthopedic surgeons. There have been a few times where I’ve experienced such good service that, on my way home, I’ve mused about writing a review, sometimes even composing them in my head. As soon as I get home though, I’ve moved onto other things and nobody ever gets to hear about my experience.
I’m giving you this info because I want to emphasize how rare it is for me to rave about a business like this. The very fact that I’m actually spending the time writing this should add ANOTHER 5 stars to this review. So here’s my experience with Beauty Gallery.
On Tuesday I was having a weave emergency — I don’t know WHY I was expecting the Milky Way/​Liquid Gold job I did to last more than 2 weeks, I should know better. The point is, I was looking terrible with my bunched up weave and I needed a fix for the music festival I was going to the following Sunday. I wasn’t about to drop some emergency money on crappy hair, so I knew I needed some Bohyme that would last me.
The last time I used Bohyme I tried Silky Straight, figuring I could style it to match my pathetically thin hair that’s got a bit of a wave. Unfortunately it wouldn’t hold even the slightest bit of a curl, so I knew I couldn’t go with that this time around. I found a perfect texture on Bohyme’s website called «European Body» that looked perfect for me. Unfortunately I had NO idea that all of the stores in LA only stocked Bohyme in Silky Straight and Body Wave, and in 18″ at that (I like my hair to be mermaid-​long, 22″ at the very least). I found a list of suppliers in my area on the website and I sat at work sneaking calls to every single one only to be crazy disappointed. None of them had even HEARD of this texture, and treated me like I was stupid for asking for it («Ummm… I mean, all of our hair is European, and we have Body Wave…») I was losing hope and was about to phone it in for some 18″ Body Wave, but then I called Beauty Gallery.
Bracing for disappointment, I asked the woman who answered the phone if they carried Bohyme in European Body. «No, sorry, we don’t have that one.» Right. Of course you don’t. «But if you order it with us today we can have it by Wednesday.»
Wait. What? Order? Ordering hair? Wednesday? That’s two days from now!
«You’ve gotta come in and put down a deposit though» No problem!
When I told her I’d come by and do it after work, she said that if I order after 12:30, it won’t be here ’til Thursday. Still no problem. I hightailed it down to Inglewood (as much as one can «hightail» in 1 and a half hours of traffic).
I was sort of expecting the store to be, like, huge. Considering what a cool thing they were doing for me. But it was just like any other BSS you’d see in Inglewood. Skeptical that I was even in the right place, I walked in and was greeted by the shopkeepers.
«A woman told me on the phone that if I order some hair with you today you can have it by Wednesday?»
I was met with confused looks… The lady, while very welcoming and nice had a super thick Korean accent and I could hardly understand her. I know it wasn’t her I talked to on the phone… After thinking for a bit, she goes
«Black girl?»
I was like «What?» Eventually the guy next to her translated for me and told me she was asking if I had talked to a black girl on the phone. Sure, maybe. She picked up her phone and said something, then handed the phone to me…
It was Sasha, the girl I had talked to before — She told me to write down exactly what I wanted, my name, and phone number for the shopkeeper, and that it would be a $ 50 deposit. I thanked her and did what she said, making sure to write super clearly. I gave the shopkeeper my notes and she told me she’d call me.
I was thinking that this whole deal was way too good to be true. But sure enough, on Thursday at around noon I got a call from Sasha telling me that my order had arrived and I could come pick it up whenever.
I arrived at around 4:00 and was greeted BY NAME by Sasha herself. This was so impressive to me. I bought my 22″ European Body in #4, exactly what I asked for, at exactly the price I expected, from which she subtracted the $ 50 deposit. Sasha was VERY nice and professional and the Korean shopkeeper was there and smiled and waved at me. I’ve never been to such a sweet, accommodating BSS before. Usually BSS people are dead-​eyed, distracted, and unhappy about having to help you, but that was not the case at all here. I’m ABSOLUTELY going to come back here the next time I need my Bohyme, despite its distance from my house. Completely worth it to know that I’ve got Bohyme’s entire stock at my fingertips, only 2 days away. PLUS, best service ever (and the European Body is awesome, I got it installed yesterday and it’s perfect! Highly recommend it.)
