The best Mexican restaurant in the Coachella Valley. Authentic and fresh, nice sized portions, moderate pricing – and live entertainment in the evening. Don’t say no to the $ 8.00 margaritas!

We were returning to Phoenix from Disneyland and looking for a neat little place to eat lunch. This is when we found Macario’s. They were having an ac issue and it was a little warm but the food and margaritas made up for it. David was our waiter and he was AMAZING! He joked around and played with our 4 children and gave us great service. Would definitely recommend for a family environment and great food and drinks.

Muy Bueno! Excellent Chile relleno and Tamales. This restaurant totally exceeded our expectations… do not judge a book by it’s cover… the Cadillac margarita was fantastic… it probably helped write this review… A++++

Great food. My wife had the nopales and eggs. I had the machaca and eggs. Both very good. The restroom was very clean. Service was excellent. The chips and salsa were tasty. I recommend this restaurant. We were just passing through.

Pitcher of margaritas and large guacamole to start. We had a party of 10 and everyone enjoyed. Several people got the shrimp and steak molcajete. Nice heat and flavor. Cooked well. Wished they used the traditional stone bowl so it could be served really hot and cheese would have been melting. Service is a little slow but the staff is friendly. Live music. This place is very low key. Come for food don’t expect much in terms of atmosphere etc.

Stopped here just by chance and so glad we did! We started with margaritas and chips salsa and guacamole(great start)! Rafael was our excellent waiter and brought out everything in a timely manner. We ordered different menu items and we’re not disappointed… We will definitely make this our go to restaurant when traveling on the 10!

Their Camerones Macarios were recommended by a Unilocaler a few years back. We loved it then and still love it now. If you want to escape the chain restaurants and get some great family cooking this is the place to go!

GREAT food and even better service! From the minute we walked in, everyone was very friendly. Our waiter, Rafael, was very helpful and accommodating. We started with Margarita’s and guacamole, both which were generously sized and fresh! Ordered fajitas and carne asada burrito for the main meal which were delicious! Prices were reasonable. Definitely worth every penny paid! I would highly recommend this place!!!

Got here for an early dinner. We do not live here-just staying at the local RV park. I had not been feeling good and really needed some Mexican comfort food. Read all the reviews & your review brought us here. At 4:30, there was only one other booth taken. We were shown to a really comfy booth by Rafael. We got chips & salsa which were crisp & salsa just a bit spicy(pleased both my husband & me). It was happy hour so ordered the large margarita to split. It was huge! Looked like a swimming pool but it was so good we drank it all(which may explain why the slurring of words & that my husband thought a loose dog was a rabbit!) Rafael deserves his own paragraph. He was so nice. He was very professional, gave amazing advice because he knew the menu, got food out fast. He even made sure my husband’s special order was perfect. Thank you! First of all, the plates are huge. My husband got the Carnitas(I read him the description off their online menu & it was like food porn!) Some places fry it too long & juicy goodness is gone. It was cooked perfectly crispy but still had juicy flavor. It was so good he finished his & started on my beans.(Yes, the refried beans are as good as your reviews say). I had the 2 Chili Relleno(your reviews were so right! I admit I am hard to please. We spent 1 ½ years in Mexico, including small towns where food was amazing. This was equal or above the best. The chili was soft, perfect amount of cheese &REAL sauce made with tomatoes & onions cooked until it was delicious! We tasted the Caldo de Siete Mares. Has chunks of halibut & seafood in a delicious broth. We will have that & the Ceviche Tostadas next visit which will be soon! Prices are reasonable. It was under $ 40 Including the swimming pool size margarita & all the food we had-and I had leftovers. It was a perfect triangle– great service, great drinks & amazing food. Thanks to all the Unilocalers for the reviews that brought us here! I really appreciate having some info about a restaurant without hitting all the bad ones. With so many Mexican restaurants to pick-you got us to the best! Thank you!

Arrived to an EMPTY dining room, placed our order, then 5 more tables of guests arrived, ordered and were fed prior to our food arriving. Waiter, David, finally noticed our circumstance. We ordered a two item combination — One chicken tamale and one Chile Rellano. Tamal was dense and lacked much in the way of flavor. The Chile Rellano. was tasty and I would consider ordering it again. Price was $ 9.95.

Thank you fellow Unilocalers– i tried it on your recommendations and so happy i did! So very tasty. Ordered the chorizo and eggs and so very happy with my breakfast. Luckily i didnt devour the basket if chips and salsa as the main course was great! Perfectly done and no extra grease. Love love love those refried beans too. Thats what i use as a barometer. That and the tortilla soup. Birra if i can get it. Dining room is old and dated, but the food and service over compensate for that

the restaurant does not close for another 30 minutes and upon calling right now one of their staff members said«uh yeah we already closed.» i asked how that was possible considering their hours say 9:30 and his response was«uh well the owner told us to close early today, cause we have been slow the last two hours.» first of all this employee has no phone etiquette, and secondly if a restaurant lists it’s hours up until 9:30 then that is how long it should remain open. very annoying.

This place was amazingly good. In the middle of BFE at my grandsons football game. Wife found this place for lunch. Carne Asada tacos where amazing. Guacamole freshly made and out of this world, salsa yum, their green spice WOW! I eat at a lot of Mexico restaurants and this one is Authentic and legit. If your coming to or out of So Cal make this your stop for great authentic Mex food.

Note to self: only take recommendations from a known source. Other than that, use gut instincts upon first impression. Old restaurant in Indio, so we knew that it was not«fancy». But upon entering there was a buffet set up at the entrance. Hum… The place did not seem fresh or even clean and the booths we not comfortable. 90 degree angle, benches pushed back too far, soft cushions. Gut said leave now. We ordered the fresh guacamole and what we got was a whipped guacamole that seemed it came from Costco. The chicken enchiladas were OK, but the chicken was mushy. Our local guy who raved about this place said«the fajitas are the best in the valley». Well, no!!! Not even close. I’m sure they are trying to find a niche, and the service was good, but not a place that we recommend. So many places that are better. Head up the road to El Mexicali Café II. Same price point, much better in every way.

Seriously do not waste your money on lousy mexican food. If you want athentic delicious food you need to come here and only here! I was so scared because i heard they had new ownership but it was even more amazing then before. We came in 45 min before closing and we were greated by every employee working there with a friendly smile and hello. Food was amazing as always and i was so happy. Yay!!!
