We enjoyed the homemade chips and salsa. We tried flautas, tamales and enchiladas and everything was good.

Use to eat here all the time with my family, but this establishment has gone downhill for sure… we should have known when we were the only 4 in the restraunt at 11AM on a Sunday morning. We ordered a Denver omlette minus the meat, machaca and eggs, and a ham steak plate which included eggs potatoes. The omlette wasn’t TOO bad, but all the veggies were cut super small and tasted like fake butter. The machaca and eggs was nothing to be thrilled about but edible. All of our meals came with country style potatoes that were COLD and didn’t taste good. My mom ordered the ham steak meal and got a piece of fried lunch meat. When we asked the server about the ham steak she said«that’s the kind of ham we use» lol seriously? The only thing we enjoyed from this place was our chavelas… but it’s hard to mess those up.

9÷24÷2012 The Campanario use to be the place that my best friend and I would go. We would always get the special and order a few beers. The staff was very attentive and the food came out fast and was great. I usually order the Botana Azteca, it is really good, shrimp with chilies, it is kind of spicy, so if you get this make sure you get a beer to go along with it. Lately the place has changed a lot, the last time I went in to eat with the family, service was not up to par. It took them forever to place my order and they never came back to check if everything was alright. The food quality has also gone down a bit. A plus is that the tortillas are fresh and portion sizes are a good size.

I really enjoy eating here. The food is delicious and the service is good. I have come here three times and always had a great experience. One of those three times we went with a big group and they sat and served us right away with no mistakes. Will definetly continue going here.

Any place that can accommodate a party of 25 adults and 10 kids, get all of our orders right, serve delicious food AND do separate checks deserves more than 5 stars! I can’t thank the servers enough for all they did for us and how smoothly things went because of them. The one and only thing I didn’t care for was my margarita. Way too sweet and way too strong. But that is a small issue and from what I remember about my other visit here a few years ago, the margaritas were never that good anyway, lol.

I highly recommend this restaurant if your looking for authentic Mexican food. The food is great, employees are very nice. But one thing they can improve on is to be a little more attentive. The waiter didn’t offer refills, & only came to see how we were doing twice in the hour that we were in their establishment.

The service is great! Friendly & completely accommodating to any of your needs. I wasn’t impressed with much else. Ordered a couple of margaritas, pretty expensive for the size and I felt the same way about the food. Since I live here, I know of half a dozen other Mexican places that blow this one away, so if I am going to spend my money, I will be going elsewhere. This is my 3rd time here, I come once a year to see if anything has change or my opinion has changed, but 3 strikes I am out, I will be heading around the corner to Mexicali Café or Marcario’s(my personal favorite hidden gem).

We got to our timeshare resort in Indio near 10 pm, and even though it was Friday night there didn’t seem to be many places still open. At least that’s what the lady told us at the desk. She recommended El Campanario, saying she’d only had a margarita there. But it was open, so off we went. I wasn’t expecting it to look like a former Bob’s Big Boy, with booths and a diner ambiance, but if the food is good… And it was open. My Unilocal tip said that it seemed authentic, and I guess it was. I had a guava margarita, which tasted good, though I don’t think there was a scintilla of alcohol in it. I followed that up with the Torta Ahogada — a carne asada sandwich on a big torta roll. I was about a quarter through it when I realized that a) I asked for the sour cream on the side, but it was glopped onto the middle of the sandwich and b) the«very spicy sauce» of the menu description was nowhere to be found. Questioning the waiter elicited the amazing response that he didn’t think I’d want it, since it was very spicy and was poured all over the sandwich. WTF??? Was he my mommy? Not only that, but I was speaking non-gringo Spanish to him the whole time, so why would he assume that I wouldn’t want it the way it’s served? Besides, «torta ahogada» means«DROWNEDSANDWICH!» Talk about racial profiling! My husband, the real gringo, had fajitas, which came with the usual accompaniments, including some tasty guacamole, but without any of the sizzling sound effects. He liked it well enough. Despite the omissions with my torta, the service was very good, and the food was decent. But not quite good enough to warrant a second visit.

Our family frequents this restaurant because it is family friendly and the food is delicious. The shrimp enchiladas are yummy and so are the enchiladas suizas. The salad with the chipotle dressing or the shrimp cocktail are great for lunch. I am picky about Mexican food and I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal here. I like the old fashioned café atmosphere, too.

Good drinks and food. Highly recommend la botana azteca appetizer, which is breaded yellow peppers stuffed with cheese and shrimp serve with melted cheese… super delicious!!! Whenever I am in Indio, I make sure to stop and eat here. For the main course I recommend the red shrimp enchiladas, delicious. And to drink, all of the alcoholic drinks are delicious here, I always order a paloma, which is tequila with squirt serve with a salted rim glass.

Last time I visited my parents I had the chance to finally go there. Me and my sister got the parrillada mixta. I thought it was pretty good, but she found the grilled chicken too dry. I think I may have to agree with her on that. The service was good, the wait really short, and the servings big enough for everyone. I’ve could have finished the parrillada by myself(recommended for two people). But then again I eat out too much and pretty often at all you can eat places. So I guess portions are big enough if you have a regular appetite.

Not bad. The salsa was watered down tomato sauce with bits and pieces of onions, cilantro and dash of cumin. We’re laugning coz it kept running down our chin down our arms to the end of our elbow. It would not stay on the tortilla chips. Too bad, the flavor is there, just wished it was fresh chunky pico de gallo. That would have honestly added another star! I had the seafood ceviche… soooo good! I usually eat ceviche with chips and not the saltine crackers it comes with. Hubby had his green chile chicken enchilada… just okay. My little cutie pie had his basic quesadilla. We were looking for the restaurant we happen to find 3 years ago right off I-10…next time.
