Really good, I had the drunk chicken and chili cheese étouffée with crawfish. You can mix to things on to one plate. The staff is very friendly, and they have a slightly different menu everyday. I will for sure be back.

Because of their outstanding creole and Cajun inspired cuisine, friendly employees and inside décor, that is why Yats is in my top 5 favorite restaurants. From just opening the door, I was immediately greeted by the guy standing by the register helping other costumers in line. The walls are covered with newspaper articles and reviews on the place as well as local things and events happening around the city keeping the local feel which I really appreciated. Decorations range from large Mardi Gras colored Christmas tree ornaments hanging from the ceiling to other brightly colored«nik-naks» surrounding the tables on the shelves and walls giving you always something to look at. The mood of the restaurant was inviting and casual, because of the friendly atmosphere and the miss-matched wooden chairs. Their entrée menu is hand-written on a chalk board since it’s constantly being altered as well as sides and the dessert menu. There are no descriptions with the entrée title, and although you can ask for a description you can also taste whichever entrée you want helping the decision of what to get tremendously. The employees are happy to serve you, and that isn’t seen often nowadays. They have different sized plating weather you want a full or half size, or you can order half and half so you can have two entirely different tasting meals on the same plate. Yats is known for their Cajun — Creole inspired food, so all entrees include white rice on the bottom and some sort of taste fulfilling jambalaya on top and then a couple of buttery pieces of French bread on the side. And if you aren’t full after all of that, or even if you are, to top it off their signature Peanut Butter Pie is to dieee for. Their baked goods are always fresh and tasty as well, however if you want to «splurge» a little and split it with your date or even to just take home to eat as a midnight snack, I highly recommend it. I ordered half of the«Drunk Chicken»(my personal favorite) and half of the«Chili Cheese Etoufee with Crawfish» which was also delicious. Half way through my meal I noticed the owner walking around to each table asking if everything was alright, or if they needed anything which showed me they really take care of you. Affordable, filling and authentic tasting would be how I describe Yats, highly recommending it to everyone

They gave us a sample of every single main dish! Every single one! Thank God you can combine 2 dishes on one plate because the choices are just too hard to make. I don’t even remember what we ordered, it doesn’t matter because you can’t go wrong. I’m pretty sure we audibly moaned and groaned as we chewed. The service was fast, there was a constant stream of people coming in but seating is limited, and I’m sure we will be going back.

Yats for the win. Here’s why: — it’s delicious — it’s affordable — you can combine 2 dishes onto one plate — incredible, whipped peanut butter pie — the décor makes me feel like I’m a young hippie in New Orleans — you never have to wait long — great for a group Favorite meal: Spinach & mushroom. I’ve never eaten tofu in my life, but one time I even ordered that on accident and loved it. Who knew? Every meal comes with yummy buttery bread as well, so you can’t go wrong!

This Yats location has a certain NOLA charm that the Carmel counterpart lacks. Think dim lights, counter seating, cozy atmosphere, and Mardi Gras décor. No frills but with some personality. I went with the half and half(best way to have the best of both worlds) with B&B and red beans and sausage. Neither are spicy which is right up my alley. I LOVE the red beans and sausage dish and will definitely get it next time. Also, that magical bread they serve it with — is it made with crack? Note that this location accepts cash & card, like all other Yats locations. Also, parking is tricky since there isn’t much street parking available with the BlueIndy stations. Parking at Fresh Market is frowned upon so park on a side street and walk a few blocks.

So good! And glad they finally approved credit cards. Chicken creole and drunk chicken are my faves. Gumbo is good too.

This was my first time at Yats and was happy with the experience. However the food didn’t have much meat and was extremely salty. The staff was extremely kind. I would go back with people who like Cajun again.

Pretty sure that if you haven’t tried Yats you can’t actually consider yourself a Butler student, so this should be at the top of everyone’s list! At first glance the big glop of food that comes in all shades of brown can be a bit of a turn off but one bite and you can no longer judge this book by its cover. The wonderful mixture of textures and spices are unlike anything else I’ve ever eaten. My personal favorites are the spinach and mushroom and the drunk chicken. But the key to a successful Yats experience is definitely ordering a slice of the peanut butter pie.

Yats is addictive. I have their drunken chicken about once every two weeks but have tried most dishes on the menu. The portions are enormous for a reasonable price, with tender rice and buttered slices of baguette. You will need the bread for mopping up all of that tasty sauce: do not let a drop go to waste. All of their dishes have excellent flavor… And their collection of hot sauces is amazing! Try the Louisiana Lightening for a hot sauce that has some real southern flavor and kick.

It just doesn’t get better than Yats. Every dish they make is happiness condensed into food. The Peanut Butter Pie is an object of legend – Indiana Jones himself would crusade across Persia for a taste of this stuff. It’s a cool place with amazing food, for next to no money. What more could you ask for? I personally recommend the drunk chicken with extra bread, and douse it down with some of their Cajun sauce.

You cannot go wrong with Yats. This is one place that we actually go back to regularly, and we are typically«try new places» people. We have introduced family/friends to Yats as well; it’s one of those places you take people to and you anticipate their first bite because you know how good it’s going to be. There are meat and vegetarian options, you can try samples at the counter to make sure you get something you like if this is new food for you. I would definitely recommend going for the half & half as you can try 2 dishes and it’s plenty of food. All the dishes come with rice and delicious, buttery bread. Just talking about it now makes me hungry!

Service was great. Food was even better! I ordered the Chicken Chorizo Étouffée and enjoyed every bite. Once you walk inside it goes from Broadripple, Indiana to New Orleans, Louisiana. Not my first time here and, definitely, will not be my last. P. S. Make sure you get the extra bread!

Easily one of my favorite places to grab a quick and extremely delicious meal in Indy– without breaking the bank. The service is always just as amazing as the food. The owner, Joe, is one of the most kind people I have ever met!

My son and I love Yats. Food is quick, hor, and always tasty. They have a great hot sauce collection to spice it up, if it’s not hot enough already.

I just can’t quit the chili cheese étouffée. I know Yats has other amazing menu items, but I just CAN’T get enough. I don’t visit this location often mostly became it’s a cash only establishment, and I’m a debit card totin’ gal. Some friends and I decided to stop by for a quick dinner before heading next door to the Jazz Kitchen for an event one Saturday night. This is my new favorite Yats location. The customer service was exceptional, and so was the food. Of course I ordered the chili cheese étouffée, but I did decide to try something new: the peanut butter pie. It was FIYAH!!! Fresh, light, peanut buttery taste. The presentation was a pleasant surprise. What a great night! Yats is truly something special!

Some of the best food I have had in Indianapolis. Great prices, a decent helping of food. The atmosphere at this location is superb, very New Orleans French Quarter.

Sweet, soulful jazz music, chili cheese étouffée, green, purple, and gold, lively people with some of the most laid back personalities… are we in NOLA? I don’t go to Yats for only the phenomenal Cajun food but for its awesome customer service. Only have a five dollar bill? They’ll make it work. Don’t have cash? They’ll give you an IOU. These people are the cats pajamas, the bees knees. I walked in and was approached by one of the workers and was asked if I was meeting people. I replied yes and was given a cup for a drink with the response, «Grab a drink and make yourself comfortable.» Quality service here people, quality service. Keep doing you Yats, keep doing you.

If you’re craving something fast, cheap, and AMAZING then this is the place to go! Parking is a little hectic depending on the time. This is a no frills, simple kind of place. You walk up to the counter to order and you can sample anything you want to try. The staff was very friendly, and your food beats you to your table. The guy working the counter let us eat before paying because they do not accept cards and we didn’t have cash on us. After we were done we ran across the street to grab cash from the ATM. I would have rated it 5 stars, but even with great food, great prices, and great service… It’s 2014 and not accepting cards is in unacceptable in my opinion. If they raised the prices a little to absorb the cost of taking cards I’m sure nobody would complain. I never carry cash and paying an ATM fee and having to take a separate trip really kills the experience.
