Don’t give your money to this salon. They are terrible people. The salon will not contact you to confirm your appointment and then will charge you full price for a no show. They are expensinsive, so we’re talking $ 100-$ 400. When I called to cancel a future appointment because of this policy, Alison berated me over the phone. She couldn’t understand why I was unhappy since the policy is posted on their business cards. If that is their policy, fine. But they billed my card for a missed appointment and when I called to cancel my future appointments, Allison was unbeleivably rude to me. They take your money and then bitch you out too. Wow!

Place is overpriced(we all know that already). It’s supposed to be quality star treatment but now that Lauren is gone(and I believe most of the original staff), the place is not worth going to in my opinion. I have curly black hair and got my hair colored and straightened. Cost me over $ 200. I did reschedule an appt but missed it and they didn’t charge me anything like they used to. Won’t be going back again, not b/c they messed up my hair. They did a good job, I just don’t think its worth the money. Especially now that their all star employee(s) left. In my opinion, that’s the only ‘upper edge’ they had over the rest of the overpriced salons in Indy

terrible customer service. bitchy employees. The owner was just as bad. I had never been there before and had had an appt scheduled a month in advance for color cut and hi light. they keep your appt on hold by credit card which i was totally fine with. if you need to cancel you must do so before 24 hrs. i get this. 3 days before I found out i needed to go out of town for work and would miss the appt, so I called to reschedule,(not even cancel) and they charged my card and told me I never gave them any notice which I had left them a voicemail and received the call back from receptionist that I could reschedule. I was out $ 300 and they would not refund me. months later they had charged my card again by mistake, and it took 2 weeks to get the refund. don’t go there!!!

I was willing to give this place a try, but after two phone calls to schedule an appointment and no return call to confirm an appointment – apparently, they don’t need the business – go to Emmett’s to get your hair colored and styled — –or Splash is another great option –both are great… and can return a phone call!

Lauren is AMAZING. Her cuts and color are the best, and she is so sweet and cool! I had been searching for years for someone in Indy to do the level of working I had been hoping for as a California transplant, and she came through for me. My hair looks great, the color is gorgeous, and she works in my timeframe and budget to give me the best service possible. I highly highly HIGHLY recommend her. This is one of the most highly praised salons in Indianapolis for a reason, even if it isn’t completely reflected on Unilocal yet! ;) You can see my review of her more completely here

Like another poster on this thread, Lauren is my stylist, except I’ve had quite a different experience. I should first mention that I’m an «enhanced» blonde. Somehow during the period from childhood to adulthood(I’m now 35) my hair decided to get dark; and I mean a solid dark brown which means a lot can go wrong when lightening it up. I’m very blonde now, and have a corporate job and I ride the fine line of light blonde but not bleach blonde/dumb blonde. I’ve gotten my hair«highlighted» many times where it either 1) has no depth, 2) is brassy, or 3) has a clear line between highlights where the stylist didn’t highlight enough within the new color. I also move a lot and have lived in Seattle, LA, and Chicago; two of which offer a very talented stylist pool. Lauren, hands down, is one of the best who has ever done my hair. I’d been to her four times while in Indy(I’m now relocating back to the west coast) and was always thrilled with both my cut and color. We also had great chats while she was doing my hair; never a dull moment. It’s not cheap, but it’s also not the $ 300 I’d spend in LA. I’ve also never had an issue with poor customer service – Lauren is always on time, they always return my call immediately when I need to schedule, etc. I’m huge on getting what I pay for and customer service, and would recommend her as well as the salon to any of my friends.

This is based on my 3rd visit to this salon since December 2010. I was in on 3 – 31 and had Lauren as my stylist. I will not go back to her. For $ 200 I wasn’t listened to as far as the cut and color that I wanted. My color came out brassy. She did offer to fix it, but I had already been at the salon for 2 hours and had to get back to work. She TRIMMED my hair, did not cut it or reshape it, and she didn’t even get all the dead, split ends off with the trim. Yet I was charged for a full hair cut. Also, she used her fingers while blow-drying my hair, and tugged hard. I have a tough scalp. Grew up with THREE brothers — I think I know hair pulling — and have a 2 year old that loves to hang on my hair… Lauren tugged harder than my 2 year old ever has. It HURT. On top of that, she burned my scalp. With a blow-dryer. This has never happened to me ever before in my life and I’m 30. So I have had my hair done a ton in my life, by many different stylists. She didn’t just burn it in one spot but THREE. And I couldn’t pull away because of the firm grip she had on my hair. If youre going to pull my hair, you should at least be family. In the 4 sentences we exchanged in a 2 hour visit she did say she used to be a stylist there, moved and then had just been back there for 7 weeks. I really think the owner should let her go as she will do nothing but tarnish the salons reputation even more. I also am led to wonder if Lauren is not largely responsible for the salons poor reviews on the Internet. Just be careful who you let cut your hair here. Otherwise, what should be a relaxing experience will be everything but.

Terrible customer service, great stylists, very rude owner, insanely expensive… Should you sacrifice customer service and respect for the customer for a good haircut? That is the question you’ll have to ask yourself if you go to Lush Art of Hair Salon. I have always believed that customer service improves with cost of your purchase. Compare the sales associate at Saks Fifth Avenue with the cashier at Wal-Mart. Working with the owner of Lush is like shopping at Saks with Wal-Mart’s cashier as your customer service. She showed very little regard for the customer, and was blatantly rude, defensive, and condescending. To be fair, the stylist and result were great. So, is a good haircut worth $ 400, and dealing with a Cruella DeVille owner? Your call.(oh, and a week of phone tag when you want to make an appointment, since they are apparently too cheap to have a receptionist and make a policy of not answering the phones. Say«hi» to the answering machine!)
