Most recent visit to Two Amigos was one week ago, a Tuesday night. Since this is my second update, I don’t want to repeat myself too much, but want to reiterate my feelings about this restaurant. It isn’t anything fancy nor is it the most authentic, but it is damn decent food in a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. I again joined my family — five members in addition to myself this time around — and we shared one of the long tables in the center. I had not seen the young lady that took care of us on previous visits, but she was great. She was very overly apologetic for things that were not a problem, but I feel she just wanted to make sure she was on top of things and that we were happy. She was cheerful and prompt with drink orders. She even told us we could stay as long as we wanted after close while she cleaned up if we chose to do so. As usual, I had the bean burrito and a side of Spanish rice, sans cheese, topped with lettuce and tomato. I took half of it home as I filled up too much on the other things on the table. Chips and salsa, guacamole, and fried cauliflower. The cauliflower was suggested by my uncle who treated us to this meal. It was good and much better than I expected. A huge mound of battered cauliflower came out on a platter for our table to share. One of the sauces served with it was a sweet and sour sauce. My uncle and I agreed that it didn’t seem like it would go together, but worked perfectly. I decided to imbibe this visit and had a 10 oz margarita on the rocks with salt.(Is there any other way?) They also have a 22 oz, I believe. I must say, as far as margaritas go, that this was a very good one. Tasty and close to perfect in my eyes. Lots of salt, in an actual margarita glass, tasty and not watered down nor sloppy, like so many other places. Not weak and not overly strong. Loved it! Some menu items seem a bit odd for a Mexican restaurant, but it works. They have a large selection as well as daily specials on food and drink. Huge portions at great prices. Truly personable service. Perfect cozy place for family meetup or a date with your spouse. I’m a fan and I will return.

Nothing spectacular here… If you want to sit down and eat lunch real quick instead of going to the Taco Bell drive through, Two Amigos is a decent alternative to the fast food line. I would definitely call it Tex Mex… a true Mexican restaurant would just be called«Dos Amigos.» This place has a hole in the wall vibe, comfortably nestled between a Sally Beauty supply and a mega China Buffet. I walked in and sat myself and listened to some commercial country music. Quickly the waitress brought me a menu and some chips & salsa and asked for my drink order. The salsa was good. The food is pretty much the same quality and speed as Taco Bell. My waitress brought out my burrito in less than 2 minutes, a chicken and rice burrito that came with cheese, lettuce, and diced tomatoes. Overall, for the money I could have gotten twice as much food at the Taco Bell drive thru minus the free chips & salsa. The waitress and service was overall excellent, but the food bland and uncreative.

A Mexican place with a country vibe to it. Small portions, high prices. I got a burrito for about $ 7, nowhere as near as large as a rival like chipotle, made with things I could easily put together from a local supermarket. Only one server during lunch time, so service was a bit slower than a rival Mexican restaurant across the street. Food was okay – value wasn’t really there.

Should have checked Unilocal. This place is close to my house and I’d never been there saw a groupon so thought I’d give it a shot. It was bad. Real bad. Everything was really bland and obviously from cans or large bags. I got the combination plate and all three dishes tasted exactly the same except the taco was crunchy. It’s like the off off brand from the very bottom shelf at Kroger. It’s shaped like the food you expect but there just isn’t any flavor. Almost bizarrely bland. The service was excellent which is why I gave two stars. I definitely won’t be going back.

This place has been here forever, and I had never tried it. So when I saw a groupon for it, my curiosity got the best of me. This really isn’t an authentic Mexican restaurant. It’s more of a Tex-Mex. I got a grande burrito with shredded beef, wife got tacos with shredded beef. Came out fast and hot. And they were pretty good. The waitress was super fast and really nice. I saw that they have 99 cent tacos and 7 dollar buckets of beer on Fridays. Not bad. Not sure I’ll be back here, but it wasn’t too bad.

Even though we live a few miles away and eat Mexican frequently, we hadn’t tried Two Amigos. We had a coupon so we tried it out. They did bring out chips and salsa, but the chips were stale — far from the warm, fresh ones we get from the other Mexican restaurants in the area. And the salsa was bland with little seasoning or spice; it seemed to be mostly canned, diced tomatoes. Most store-bought salsas are better. My spouse got fajitas and he said they were good with a nice spice, but my «tamales» were subpar. They had very little masa and were covered in chili and cheddar cheese. Again, I think they were either frozen or from a can. The food was edible, but I could probably make better at home and I know I can get better at Guadalajara or El Jaripeo down the street. Not worth the price. On the plus side, the staff was friendly.

If you are from Indianapolis and are 30+ years old you have probably spent time at mi amigos. I love this place. I remember as a child sitting in a booth eating beans and fried ice cream. The beauty of this place is that not much has changed. The booths are still the same comfy seats and even the waitress has been there forever. The tube TV was replaced by flat screen TVs and they added salsa. The food is yummy TEX mex and is not meant to be Mexican food for those that have written bad reviewa of Mexican food. Love it!

The server was nice, and didn’t get all freaked out when I asked about the chili possibly containing shrimp.(It doesn’t, but you never know…) The food was low mediocre. I wouldn’t have too much problem with it in a nicer atmosphere for a slightly lower price. I had a standard lunch special #4, the taco with soup or chili. The taco was ok. The chili tasted overcooked, and the meat was mushy. It was obviously left over taco meat, and tasted like taco meat soup with beans waved at it. The atmosphere was terrible. It was dark and badly lit. There were stains on the ceiling tiles. The carpet had a patch job on it that would make my carpet installer weep. There was a broken outlet cover right next to our booth, at just the height for little bored fingers to get into. I’m not a fan of country music. I hate it. That said, there has to be a better way to play the stuff other than piping in the local country radio station complete with commercials. The bathrooms were ugly, but fairly clean. The door lock was kind of flimsy. I’ve seen nicer gas station bathrooms.

This was the worst Mexican food I’ve ever had. It was a mistake to come here, but my mom had a Groupon for it and thought it was downtown instead of in Greenfield. They really should emphasize the TEX part more than the Mex in Tex-Mex. It’s entirely possible that the American food on the menu is actually decent, and they just don’t know how to cook Mexican. Before I came here, I had always thought Mexican food in the US was pretty standard and hard to mess up, since out of all the places I’ve been, the food has always been decent if nothing else. Nope, I’ve been proven wrong. I got the only vegetarian Mex dish on the menu, the Two Amigos Dinner, which consisted of a cheese enchilada, rice, beans, and a «vegetarian burrito» consisting of a tortilla filled with a mixture of the same rice and beans and topped with some iceburg lettuce and tomatoes. It was all very bland, the cheese enchilada was overcooked with a strange texture, and the beans looked like they’d been sitting around for a while. I didn’t bother to try the salsa and chips, but was not surprised when my mom said the salsa was not hot at all. My mom did enjoy her tilapia, hence my theory about a better Tex part. Also, they played a country music radio station with a lot of commercials. I abhore country music, so we asked if the station could be changed(there was no one else eating there at the time). Nope, the management would be upset if the waitress changed the station and she was not allowed. I ended up being glad there were lots of commercials so I didn’t have to listen to as much of the music. This was the cherry on top of the crap pile. At least the service was good — I would hope so, since there was one other table that came in during the middle of our meal. But that wasn’t enough to make up for the general experience. I ate part of my food out of sheer hunger, then we went elsewhere for dessert to make up for the unpleasantness. But ya know, I think it’s healthy to have some really bad restaurant experiences once in a while so I can appreciate the okay and good ones more. Thank you, Two Amigos, for giving me that. I thought it was hilarious that the name of the restaurant on the strip mall store front reads«Two Amigos: A Fine Restaurant». If they are trying to go for fine dining, they really did not succeed, as the décor, menu, and general setup of the restaurant is very casual. I think what it really means is that it’s fine. Meh, okay, go there if you want. It’s fine if you like country music; just don’t order any of the Mexican food.
