The salad is iceberg lettuce and tomatoes. The fish sandwich is not very good. Tastes like they got the fish out of a Captain Gorton’s box. The tenderloin lacks any sort of flavor. The staff were very friendly however.

The Tie Dye Grill was awesome. The BBQ Bacon Burger was delicious! The bacon was cooked to perfection and the cheedar blanketed the burger which was HUGE but well done as I requested. I will be returning here and spreading the word to everyone I know!

We were passing thru Indy and we’re craving burgers. Unilocal did not disappoint! Total mom n pop dive, with absolutely fantastic food! I would highly recommend the Garcia burger, and add the bacon relish! My husband was sad he didn’t get the same. Even though his was great, he said mine was the best burger he’d ever had! Onion rings were fab as well! Two thumbs way up! Definitely the best burger joint I’ve been to! Head to tie dye for your burger cravings!

Nice mom-n-pop hippy restaurant that throws you back to the 1960’s with it’s wall art and table décor. The tables are covered in tie dye designs and the walls covered in posters and signs from rock bands and other memorabilia from this long past, but not forgotten era in time. The floor could use some major deep cleaning as it looks very worn, and has lost its shine. Maybe updating from the red and white checkered tiles, that seem to clash with the rest of the décor would be an ever better idea than deep cleaning them. But on a mom-n-pop budget and not a corporate budget with tons of money to throw behind decorating a new store, I understand their slowness in replacing a floor, ha. I was greeted when I walked in the door by Jessie, who asked how many in my party, and told me to sit anywhere I wanted. She was nice, and she also was my server. The place was very slow when I was there, maybe one other table was eating there. The layout of the restaurant is kind of odd, maybe it was the way they did it 40 years ago, but now-days seems things are not in their proper place, not that this is a bad thing, just different. Such as the Coke dispenser machine is next to the front entrance door as soon as you walk in, you almost think you walked into the employee area, ha. The owners desk with computer, printer, etc is right next to the side entrance door, and out in the open, no private office area, or separation from the dining area. The kitchen is in the rear, where about 3 employees kept busy prepping and cooking. She gave me time to browse the menu and gave a few recommendations, and also noted that the Tuesday Tenderloins, were no longer just Tuesday, but now are available Everyday, as she said they are very popular. I ordered the Lave Lamp Wings for my appetizer as I scanned the extensive menu, where everything was named for something from the old days, ha. They arrived in a timely manner and looked great. They were of normal size and has a normal hot flavor to them, that was very good. they were properly covered in sauce and full of flavor. The server actually brought me more napkins for the messy hot wings, without me even having to request them, as I normally must do at 9 out of 10 places, ha. I then ordered the biggest burger on the menu to give it a try, it’s called the Lights Out Lytle Burger, and it comes with three 10oz patties on it and whatever else you want to add. It’s a huge almost 2 pound triple burger! I ordered mine with cheese, and when it arrived it was amazing looking with a big steak knife sticking out the top. Which was perfect because there was no way to pick up and eat this like a sandwich, so I used the knife and cut it like a steak. The three perfectly cooked medium well, Angus beef, char grilled burgers tasted amazing! They tasted like a steak, I almost asked the server for some A1 sauce, as the meat was so juicy and full of flavor. And after several minutes, yes, I did eat the entire burger. I just couldn’t stop myself as my taste buds continually demanded more, more, more! The server kept checking up on me and was friendly the entire time. I had a great meal that was very filling, and although it was a expensive for what I ate, wings $ 7.95 and burger $ 15.95, for a total of about $ 26, this would have been a meal for 2 or 3 normal eaters, I am a big guy and can eat a lot, haha. Overall above average tasting hot wings, excellent tasting gigantic triple burger, very good service, decent décor, and priced a bit on the expensive side. Nice place to stop in and have a bite to eat.

We came here after hearing about how great Tenderloin Tuesday was. Upon walking in, you feel a bit like you’re sitting in someone’s living room that you weren’t invited to. Staff stood around back by where the food was set out, munching on plates that it looks like they ordered and loudly chatting, laughing, running around with each other and not checking on guests often. If you need to bother them for something, you feel like you’re interrupting. The food was pretty good. Tenderloins were tasty, fries were a disappointment. The«famous brownie» that we took to-go wasn’t very tasty or nice to look at. It looked like someone put a slice of chocolate cake in a food processor, threw it into a container and smeared some sloppy multi-colored icing on top. The taste wasn’t much better, even after being warmed up(which was suggested by our waitress). Overall, we were uncomfortable and for that reason, we won’t be back. However, I’d recommend trying a tenderloin to go if you’re in the area on a Tuesday.

Second time here and we’re hooked. The burgers are hand-patted 10oz burgers and have a great taste. I tried the Tie Dye Jack burger on a english muffin. Yum. I little messy, but good burgers are like that. Since everything is a la carte, we got the Wavy Gravy Fries, their version of poutinne. Great stuff! We’ll be back, as long as we can figure out the odd hours. The décor is retro and has some cool things to look at.

Tie Dye Grill is EXACTLY what you hope it will be! Trippy hippie adorable décor, friendly freaks and smiling servers, outrageous classic food morning after hang over food. Gravy covered fries? Check. Herbed cream cheese on the BLT? Check Check! Bacon Relish? Check that one out for sure. Plus, everything on the menu has a flashback-fun pun. Brown Chicken Brown Cow? Check please!

This place is yummy. Their French Onion soup is amazing. Its a dark rich broth, full of caramelized onions, stuffed with huge croutons, and then loaded with melty oozy cheese. Get it! Burgers are tasty, charred, and cooked to your liking(a huge win for me!). Tenderloins are incredible. It’s more like a crispy breaded pork chop than a flat fritter. The best! Fries are okay. I mean, they aren’t the greatest and they’re usually kind of anemic, but you’re not here for the fries. You’re here for the French Onion soup and a freakin’ sammich. xoxo

Well I must say one of the hidden secrets of the Eastside of indianapolis . Now if your looking for a great sandwich prepared fresh this is the place, I have tried the Ruben, and the burgers and they are awesomely good, but there is on more thing to add every Tuesday is tenderloin Tuesday and it is incredible, and of course it’s crowded at lunch time so go early. Nothing fancy inside just a lot of hippie stuff and some old music playing, the place to go on the Eastside for a sandwich, oh and the staff is very friendly.

This review is long over due. I can’t really say anymore than what has been already said. Huge portions, no muss, no fuss. A bit greasy. Cool vibe and fun idea. The brownies are the best. This was my last stop before the airport, and the brownies were so good that I bought 5 to give to friends and family when I got home.

To be greeted at a sit down restaurant with«can I help you with something?» has got to be THE worst way to greet a customer. I won’t ever go back and I’ll be sure to tell everyone I know how rude you are.

Tie Dye Grill is, without a doubt, home of the best damn burger I’ve had in recent memory. Why? Everything is handmade with love and cooked perfectly to order. It’s no wonder that Tie Dye Grill is often invited to compete in regional Burger Battles, which they always come close to winning. Burgers are always tender and juicy with a hint of char, bacon is fresh and crisp(made to order), cheese is ooey gooey, and mushrooms are on point! In the mood for a salad? No worries, Tye Dye Grill has you covered, and their salads are great! In addition, you’ll find that this is one sincerely warm and friendly mom-and-pop. It’s not out of the ordinary for you to quickly develop a first-name-basis relationship with the server, or for the guy who cooked your meal to start chatting you up about something totally random. The place is family owned and run, and that’s exactly what you’ll feel like when you’re here — family. The combination of the above leads to a meal I always look forward to eating. Why four stars instead of five? As something of a neat freak, it’s hard for me not to stare at the tile floor, which is badly in need of updating. And the make-shift«office» next to the front entrance kind of baffles me!

I have been wrestling for the last couple of days with whether or not to update my rating and review for Tie Dye Grill following my most recent visit for Tenderloin Tuesday this past week. For the most part, service remained top notch and I will always have an appreciation for the indie«mom and pop» vibe that permeates every culinary cell of Tie Dye’s existence. Tie Dye Grill is still located at 13th& Shadeland on Indy’s Eastside and it still lives into that tie dye groovy vibe that makes it a happy place to be. I’m not going to repeat much of what is in my original review as much of it remains true. While I’d heard at one point that Tie Dye was relocating, it remains in this relatively hole-in-the-wall strip center in digs that are a wee bit run down and way too small for their most demanding times including their wildly popular Tenderloin Tuesdays. Having never experienced their tenderloin sandwich, I was rather excited to find myself with some time after work on a Tuesday that allowed me to show up in time to enjoy dinner at Tie Dye. When I entered Tie Dye, it almost immediately felt like the vibe was off. At first, I credited it to the fact that it was a larger crowd and the staff was definitely busier. As I’ve previously noted, Tie Dye definitely isn’t the most wheelchair friendly restaurant and it’s particularly challenging when the place is crowded. I arrived in the restaurant and looked around didn’t really see anything too obvious — the staff were busy and I began scouting a possible 2-top near the door even though I’m not particularly fond of 2-top tables. By this time, staff had noticed my arrival and announced that they were getting ready to use that 2-top to create a six-top for a party. I will admit that I was both a little irritated and a little relieved. I was escorted to a 4-top — this surprised me a bit as it was pretty obvious that table options were limited and I had no doubt additional diners would be arriving soon. However, it worked for me and didn’t create too much of a sense of being trapped once I needed to leave. I ordered the tenderloin sandwich at $ 7.99 — somewhat surprisingly, it doesn’t come with a side of any type. I ordered a ½ order of their groovy fries at $ 1.50 and my usual unsweetened iced tea. The entire bill came in at right around $ 14 and, quite honestly, is an average value at best. My friend Rick Garrett, aka The Tenderloin Connoisseur, had rated the Tie Dye Tenderloin at 4.5 stars a couple years earlier and I’m usually fairly close to his ratings. What can I say? This sandwich sucked. I mean, seriously. It was a huge disappointment. Oh sure, it was a nice chunk o’ meat but it arrived literally dripping grease and looking like it had been rushed into delivery. I’m guessing at least ¼ of the sandwich tasted undercooked to the point of being inedible and, yes, I actually left part of the sandwich on the plate. Part of the sandwich wasn’t bad, but at its best it was mediocre and at its worst pretty close to godawful. I would generously rate the sandwich at 2 stars. The french fries, while a fairly modest serving, were decent and easily rated 3-stars. I did get my always desired refill, though I’ll admit I was starting to wonder. The service remains friendly and helpful and it gives off that peaceful vibe. So, if you’re keeping track it becomes pretty clear that there’s no way this was a 4-star experience. My debate becomes«Was this a fluke?» or did I rate Tie Dye too generously the first time? After contemplating it for a couple days, I’ve decided that 3 stars is a more accurate description of my experience. I love the vibe, appreciate the service, and have had mixed results with the food ranging from hugely disappointing to mighty tasty. With food ranging from two stars to four stars, three stars feels just right. There was a diner in a wheelchair waiting for a table when I was leaving and it’s entirely likely she ended up at my table despite the fact that I had to do some winding around to actually leave the place. Fortunately, customers here tend to be friendly and I’ve seldom gotten attitude if someone needed to move. My hope is that this most recent experience was a fluke, though I’ll confess even as a fluke I’ll never order the tenderloin again. If that’s how it is served, I just don’t like it. If I just got a sub-par sandwich, I’m just not willing to risk it again. I’ll return to Tie Dye, but I’ll probably go during a less populated off time and I’ll definitely order something else. Will they get their 4th star back? We’ll see.

So the burgers are $ 10 each. Here’s why… everything is handmade, hand prepped. They make everything except the Honey Mustard. Breakfast — The Grandma’s Boy was delicious. The biscuits & gravy were decent when served hot, but weren’t that great served cold. I felt like they were waiting on my husband’s eggs & just left the b&g sitting there. The wait was too long. All in all, the burgers & fries are the best part of this place.

Another lunch during the work week and where I work, food options are limited. Tie Dye is a quaint burger place with«we don’t care if you have a problem» attitude. Not the cleanest of establishments and there is tie Dye everywhere. Actually, if you wear tie dye to Tie Dye, you get your picture on the wall… Lunch rush is crazy so you have to wait to be seated and there is no proper waiting area. Menu is full of options and they have some good specials. I ordered the Pig Pen I think. Huge burger on texas toast covered in gravy, french fries, and cheese. It sounded awesome at the time I was finally ordering. But the gravy was pretty salty and it was all over the place so it was hard to distinguish what the rest of the meal was like. Not he best burger place but it has personality for sure!

Groupon brought Tie Dye Grill to my attention and I do like me some tie dye flashbacks. At lunch time the place was packed with a few people, including me, waiting on a table. The majority of the customers were locals and regulars here for Tenderloin Tuesday. I haven’t seen a Wet Tenderloin served in years unless I make it. Guess what I ordered? The others ordered a grilled tenderloin and a spud with chili plus all the toppings. All was tasty but my son felt the spud was sparse on the chili for the side of the potato. Menu has a nice selection from appetizers, burgers, salads and spuds. I’ll be back to try the tie dyed cheesecake. Cute mom & pop joint with Lenyard Skinner concert playing on TV. Under TV are stacks of 70’s &80’s CDs and albums. Tables have tie dyed table clothes, pipe cleaner flower centerpieces with a fun atmosphere and many customers who fit the theme well. Nothing fancy just comfortable, relaxed atmosphere with good food.
