My daughter has been on a quest to try latkes for the past month or so, and a quick search on Unilocal led us here. We’ve been here before, but I’m not into fancy pancakes, so we don’t come very often. We came right in the middle of Sunday brunch hours and took our places in the long line waiting to be seated. The hostess was moving quickly to pluck the parties out of line as soon as tables became available, so our wait wasn’t too long at all. We were seated and she found latkes/potato pancakes on the menu right away. I didn’t think I had a taste for pancakes, but something about he pictures of the Dutch pancake, and it being at the top of the menu was just calling my name! Our server Debbie was excellent! She’s been there for 25 years and was happy that I wanted to try the Dutch pancake. She patiently explained how to mix the powdered sugar, butter and lemon to make a glaze to spread over the pancake. It was absolutely delicious! My daughter enjoyed her latkes as well. They were served with an option of apple sauce or sour cream and she asked for both, and preferred the sour cream. Great consistent service and food, no wonder they’ve been a long time staple in the city.

A chain yes. But they do make some of the best pancakes I’ve eaten. Their bacon and sausage are not my favorite and I wish they had hash browns vs. the homestyle potatoes, but I guess I’m nit-picking. Just my personal preference. The staff is always nice. Be ready for the wait if it’s a Sunday morning. But if you want just and overall, typical breakfast… this is a great spot.

Great service from Theresa & good food! Guess you can say we went«international» today! I had the huge German Dutch Pancake for 1st time… did not disappoint in flavor… just didn’t have enuff room in my tummy to finish it! Hubby had French Toast/2egg platter… only disappointment was we had to order the meat(bacon) on the side(they don’t offer a complete meal :()

It’s been family run since 1989. That’s a lot of time to perfect breakfast food. This is no frills or fluffyness breakfasts. It’s down home pancakes, waffles, omelets and the almighty… Dutch Baby! This thing alone is what makes this spot where I go for breakfasts. It takes some time to cook; so grab an appetizer of breakfast potatoes or an english muffin. Both are great.

How is this place only getting one to two star reviews?!! I am truly baffled and shocked by that. Today was my first visit here, and my boyfriend and I can honestly say that we have found our new«breakfast spot». We don’t live too far away and we decided to give it a try after passing by it a few times. The bacon is the best I have ever had, and that is NO exaggeration. It’s thick, not too juicy, not too dry, and packed with flavor! The pancakes are, of course, absolutely delicioius as well. Candace was our server and she was wonderful! We loved everything about this place, and I plan on bringing friends and family from out of town next time they visit.

You must try their delicious Pecan French Toast. It is a marvel, and my absolute favorite. Don’t write a negative review until you have. I’m still trying to figure out how they make it.(I can’t believe I just let my secret out. Now the lines will be longer.) But you can only get it here, so I will wait.

Twas very yummy but our service was slow and kind of unprofessional. Prices were good and I’d go back — just no high expectations on the service front. I’m a coffee snob and this was really yummy coffee. :) Also, if you want to impress me these days, try to source local and organic. We had the buckwheat pancakes(awesome) and an omelette with potatoes. My cohort did not like the potatoes but the eggs were stellar.

The omelettes here are oven baked. I’ve never had an oven baked omelet before and after this experience I don’t think I’d want to try it again. This is of course my personal preference. My meal came with 3 regular pancakes and they were nothing special. I actually would have preferred some toast.

What can I say? One of the only places in town that has cream of wheat on the menu. It’s a bit pricey for a bowl, but brings back childhood memories growing up in rural Indiana. The ham and swiss omelette… Holy buckets, this is pure deliciousness, it brings tears of joy. Not a lie. It is the best thing I have ever eaten and it does literally bring tears of happiness with each bite. It is definitely enough for two, it is big and fluffy and the ham and swiss combination is mind blowing. Feels like it is made with love and when eaten, fills your heart and stomach with the warmth of love. I highly recommend you check this place out.

Outside on the patio kind of dirty but atmosphere was nice if you enjoy eating outside. I had buttermilk pancakes, I ate 3 out of 6 but it was good. Good service.

Love this place! The food was excellent, the service was fast and the restaurant was clean. I ordered the corn beef hash. It came with 2 eggs and a choice of pancakes or toast. Being my first time here and the name, I went with the pancakes, which was definitely the right decision. The pancakes were about the size of a large fist, but with fairly large portion sizes, I couldn’t finish them. They are fluffy and almost taste like a dessert. I ordered a side of bacon, which I HIGHLY recommend if you like limp bacon like I do. The coffee was pretty good as well. Although our waitress was not the friendliest I’ve ever had, she stayed on top of refills and came back to check on us a couple of times. It is a bit pricey, but I will definitely be back in due to the great experience I had and the great food.

More breakfast club after night shift! This place about meets expectations. Food is out fast and hot. The hollandaise on my Benedict was not too rich and the flavor was great. Not too sure how I feel about the potato pancakes, though. Portions seemed small to me and they seem to find ways to mickle and dime the cost, charging extra for raisins or chocolate. The fatty in me was raging. Overall, good enough.

Came here because I drive by it all the time and always thought to myself«I wonder what that place is like?» I decided to give it a shot and noticed that the menu is primarily Pancakes, Waffles and Crepes/Blitz. That makes sense for a place called Pancake house, but I was really hoping for more savory breakfast options. I landed on the Corned Beef Hash and ordered poached eggs to put on top. I must say, out of all the beef hash I’ve ever had, this ranks dead last… it was awful. The beef was diced so fine it no longer resembled corned beef. The potatoes were way over cooked and the texture between the two together reminded me of something you’d feed a horse or pig on a farm. BLECH. I cut into my poached eggs to let the yolk run out and help the dish out, but the yolk was solid. I asked the waitress to make me new ones that are runny and as she was delivering the new ones, she dropped them to the ground. SIGH. Maybe I had a bad experience or bad luck but I’d never come here again. Breakfast places are a dime a dozen and since sweet pancakes and waffles aren’t really my cup of tea, I doubt I’m the right clientele for this place anyway.

There is nothing wrong with this place if you are in need of breakfast food. But the two-star«Meh. I’ve experienced better.» really sums it up. The food is serviceable. The service is good. The problem is the food is of only average quality, and the menu is pancake/waffle-centric to the exclusion of biscuits and gravy, shredded hash browns, and some other items I consider breakfast staples. The prices are also high compared to other local breakfast places. The lunch menu is also extremely limited, with less than ten lunch entrees. One final pet peeve is that all or nearly all the seating is booths. For those with short arms or back problems, this makes for an uncomfortable meal of leaning forward the entire time.

It was ok. This was a one time try. The service was fair, and food was not very good. The clientele was rude and the staff did nothing. We were in line to pay for our meal and someone just walked up cut in between us and cashier. The cashier didn’t say anything to them about us being in line. She took their bill and started to check them out. We had to address her and tell her we where next in line. So if you want to be valued as a customer this is not the place. So we will not be back.

Instead of heading into the office this morning, I hoped to find a back of the restaurant booth with wi-fi and coffee. Because that makes up for playing the email catch-up game on a Saturday morning. Again, I turned to my Unilocal«to try» list. I’ve had my eye on The Original Pancake House for years. Husband does not like pancakes. At. All. Therefore, we usually avoid pancake-focused establishments. «We» — not me. I love all things sweet and breakfast-y. It was busy, but not full when I arrived. I was seated immediately at a two-top booth in the center of the restaurant, not tucked away in a corner as was my preference and where the computer bag on my shoulder usually lands me. I slid into the booth and anxiously reached for the menu. So many appealing options! I initially wanted to order the German pancake. I used to make these with my grandmother and just love them. It’s a lot of food for just one person, however. Blueberry pancakes caught my eye. Also a favorite of mine, but the menu said the order is six pancakes. Six?! I asked my server if these would happen to be silver dollar pancakes. I was assured this was the case. I happily ordered the blueberry pancakes with a side of bacon, a small orange juice, and a cup of coffee. First came the coffee and juice. The coffee was fine, nothing special, but not bad either. No cream came with the coffee. When I asked about this, my server pointed to a little metal pitcher that was sitting on the table when I first sat down. I’d incorrectly assumed this was syrup. I was sketched out by cream sitting on the table unrefrigerated. I opted to take my coffee without cream. Not my favorite. Then there was the juice. I was thrilled to see it was fresh squeezed! I’m a big fan of pulp in my orange juice. Unfortunately, my first swig landed my mouth in a fairly disgusting battle with a large chunk of pith and a very bitter seed. Oi. Next came the ‘cakes and bacon. The pancakes were gorgeous and tasted just as good. I cautiously tasted the blueberry compote that accompanied and was delightfully drizzling this wonderful addition seconds later. I didn’t even acknowledge the syrup after one taste. But… the bacon. It wasn’t good. I can’t identify what it was, but it wasn’t edible. I asked my server if it was perhaps frozen and she assured me it was not. I don’t know what happened to my poor bacon, but I sadly left it barely touched. It was tough and without any caramelized fat. It was neither chewy nor crunchy — more jerky than any bacon I’ve ever tasted. So, so, sad. I will most likely pass on this place in the future despite the deliciousness of the blueberry pancakes. Although, I’ll take that two-top booth over the desk chair in my office any day! My favorite part of the experience was my server, by far. She was so sweet and kind, helpful and attentive. I never saw her without a smile and she was anticipating her guests’ needs with flawless ease. The service and the blueberry pancakes earned The Original Pancake House the second star.

The pancakes were really good(they better be since the word«pancake» is the name, right?). However, others in my party(who don’t like pancakes) indicated to me that they were disappointed in their meals. The coffee was a huge disappointment. When I go to a breakfast place, they better darn well have some good coffee. What they do here is have their«own special blend» which is just decaf mixed with regular. Meh.

I’ll take OPH over Le Peep every day of the week. No contest. Order the bacon! Some of the best damn pancakes in the city, no joke. And the aforementioned bacon is insanely awesome … huge, crispy yet somehow still perfectly chewy. Just the way I like it. OPH coffee, well it’s regular diner-style coffee that you’ll neither love nor hate. It’s just serviceable. The service is generally good. Wish the walkways were a bit wider as it gets a little tight with a toddler in a high chair. Lastly, the place could be a little cleaner overall … that’s the main reason that OPH didn’t get that fifth star.

This is what I’m talkin’ about right here. Breakfast, the way nature intended. With portion sizes to make your calorie counter app explode. Sure, they have their ups and downs just like any restaurant, but I’m sticking by my local businesses. IHOP ain’t got nothin’ on these crepes! Since Rob and I don’t have much family in Indy, we decided to have an Easter Sunday brunch together at the OPH. This was my first rodeo, and we had not experienced the OPH together yet. You could say he took my OPH virginity. *blush* We had to wait in line for a table, but it was Easter Sunday. What do you expect? We ordered the Heart Attack Special: crepes, potatoes, sausage links, bacon, and eggs. All out, baby! Service was good and the server was cool as a cucumber considering the place was packed. Our meal took me by surprise — we each had three huge crepes, my scrambled eggs were perfect(and I’m SUPER picky about my eggs), and we shared a heaping mount of potatoes. Everything was beyond delicious, and we left with leftovers because we just couldn’t fit any more food into our fat faces. I know breakfast. I would eat breakfast for every meal if it wasn’t for that whole health thing. You get your money’s worth here, and then some. Give it a go. Excuse me while I go fantasize about my crepes. Oh, did I mention they are open on holidays? Oh yes, my darling: Easter Sunday, Turkey Day, X-mas Eve, X-mas Day, NYE, and NY Day. Can I get a amen?!

We arrived today at end of lunch rush so no wait. The server was prompt and friendly. We ordered the Spinach Crepes which consist of fresh spinach and baby swiss with a mushroom sherry sauce, topped with toasted almonds and served with 4 potatoes pancakes(ask for applesauce to top them). Apparently I’m no longer a fan of the mushroom sherry sauce which I use to enjoy. The crêpe is loaded with fresh spinach and the crepes are delicious and the mushroom sherry sauce was appreciated by my friend. We also shared the Pumpkin Pancakes which are always delicious. They are light, fluffy with a warm pumpkin flavor and sprinkled with powdered sugar with 6 pancakes to an order. We now wish we hadn’t order ½ order… we loved these!!! Must try if you love pumpkin. Don’t forget to try the German Ductch Pancake with fresh lemons and powdered sugar. Large enough to share as well.
