It’s an awful restaurant!!! Worst Indian restaurant, I ever been to!!! I don’t know how long they will be in business! Never come here!!!

Tandoori Tacos with the spicy rice upgrade make for a lunch of perfect proportion. The dish is delightful to eat. When I finish, I’m energized and uplifted, not weighed down and in need of a nap, the way I usually feel after indulging in Indian lunch buffet. Great people, cool vibe, hip neighborhood, worth a trip!

Friendly staff and ok Indian food for the price. However, really nothing spectacular all around. Got the spicier version of everything and it was still mild for me, but that’s normal. Overall a ho hum experience, but nice to have a quick to go Indian place in indy.

Got this at City Market one day, completely sub par Indian food but what really irked me was the guy asked me if I wanted Spiced Rice and I asked if it was good then he up charged me a dollar for it without telling me it was extra, also they make you buy a drink and won’t even give you tap water. End of the day you’re gonna get a completely sup par lunch and not enough food for $ 12+ one of the biggest rip offs in town, no value.

Wonderful downtown buzz, service and food for groups from 1 to whatever. Small plates are Midwest small. As in not so small. Worthy the visit. Worthy of the experience and worthy the price. A trifecta.

I had the opportunity to try Spice Box at The Riviera Club’s Food Truck Friday event on May 29th. The band was taking a break, so several of us tried the Tandoori Chicken Tacos. They were incredibly good — authentic Indian flavor, just enough heat to make it interesting. I really wanted to try one of the Indian sodas they offer, but they had sold out of them at a previous event and hadn’t had the chance to restock. The guys were super friendly, and wanted to make sure we were happy with our purchase. I will definitely look for Spice Box again!

They were parked out on Walnut st near Riley Hospital during lunchtime. Thank goodness i spot them right at 11 am, the line was looking pretty long as it got to 11:30 am. I ordered the Spice Box Chicken Tikki. I paid the $ 1 extra to get the spicy version of rice. The total was $ 8 bucks. Loved it! It was spicy, lemondy, with a major kick, and had all these flavors blasting in your mouth. Seriously I wanted more! i wish the portion was bigger! i think my boyfriend was still hungry lol I can’t wait to try the other stuff! I do love me some Indian food.

Had the tandoori chicken taco and something else at my work when some food trucks came something kinda like curry with the rice, have to say that it just bland. With the name like spice box I was expecting something more flavorful, but I know this is Indiana and hot/spicy is not most people’s thing, but at the same time come on live up to your business name and get some flavor in your food. I will give it one more try and this time request spice be added. So look for the next review.

Had a sumptuous Bombay box for my lunch. The rice is basically a toned down version of Biriyani that you could find at a an indian restaurant. It is served with a boiled egg on top and grilled chicken. The grilled chicken is more like a chicken sheekh kabab. The portion size is medium but large enough for my appetite. Will come back again.

This place is hands down awesome. I got the 2 entrée with Chicken Tikki(all white meat!!!) and the vegan chickpeas(forget the exact name but you can’t miss it if it’s on the menu). With the spicy rice!!! All of it was amazing! They were super nice too! I was at Gencon and I just went there the 2nd day in a row because it was so yummy!!! Will be going again! :)

The tandoori tacos are totally awesome. Chicken tikka masala plus chana masala plus spicy basmatic rice folded in chapati like a taco. SOGOOD! The price seems a little high for what it is, but the food was hot and tasty and we got it quickly. If that means an extra buck or two I guess I’m fine with that.

The Tandoori Chicken Tacos are just fantastic The owner is from Spice Nation where he has worked in the Indian community as a chef for over 15 years I also just had to also have the shrimp dish and it too was flavorful, served up hot and had the right amount of spices I love Indian food so getting it off a truck and eating it while the sun is shining just makes life better @spiceboxindy

The flavors and simple options are amazing! I can’t give this enough stars! We tried the the spice wrap(my least favorite), tandoori tacos(my husbands favorite), spicy shrimp, and chicken tikki(both are amazing). The naan and rice were perfect. I wish the food had been a tad spicier but that is my preference. I recommend this to anyone. You could hunt down the food truck or go to their place at city market. To top it off the staff is very polite and knowledgeable. Yum!

I got a very small order, just two simple tandoori chicken tacos for 7 dollars, because I wasnt very hungry. The tacos were good, and filling, but nothing fancy. I think that one of their fancier meals would have been more impressive. The flavor was very simple, but still delicious. I felt like they skimped a little on the onions that go on them, but the workers seemed very friendly and I am pretty sure if I had asked nicely they would have given me more. I wish that they would come to the IUPUI campus more often! I am surprised they don’t, honestly. That is my only real complaint, I wish I could see them around more!

Late night out stumbled across the Spice Box food truck, figured why not?. Great decision, the guys were friendly, and the food was ready in 4 – 5 minutes. I was delighted with how flavorful the food was, most indian restaurants I’ve gone to in the indy area lack spices. I tried both the Chicken Tikki and the other I asked for whatever was their favorite, never caught what it was called, but it was delicious. Essentially this place is accurately named… I’m excited to try more of their food and visit their City Market location.

My wife and I stopped here after the Holiday Bazaar and it was worth the freezing cold weather! Man these guys can cook! The guy was really friendly and helped me pick out what their best sellers are and what we would like. I went with the butter chicken and my wife went with the spice box. Both were filled with high quality meat and had complex flavoring. The boxes are great for walking and eating and the portions are perfect. I can’t wait to spot this truck again for seconds!

So, Black Acre Brewing Co. in Irvington has guest food trucks every Monday, and this past Monday it was Spice Box. The generator in the food truck is unbelievably loud, so that would be a detriment if I had to sit outside to eat my meal. Thankfully, I was able to sit inside the brewery and enjoy my Channa Naan Wrap, which was really delicious — good flavor and zing. I also learned that they now have a more permanent space inside the City Market downtown, with 4 – 5 vegetarian options every day, so I’ll definitely visit them there.

Spicebox definitely knocked it out of the ballpark for me. The chicken tikka masala and channa combo was A-MAZEballs. Both entrees were so rich and flavorful in spices(curry, garam masala, cumin, etc.), which is why I love Indian food. It also contained the perfect level of heat for my wimpy-spice threshold, so I’ll likely be limited to those dishes. Fortunately, I don’t see that being a problem since they were both so yummy and will order it again :) I’m bummed that I don’t work in downtown because I’d be eating from here all the time… or perhaps that’s a good thing. My waistline and wallet are better off this way, right? :P Nonetheless, please return to the Pyramids! Spicebox has been added to my(selective) list of food trucks to stalk.

Tandori Tacos were simply amazing. I normally dont enjoy waiting in a 20min line while my parking meter is ticking away but with all the customers patiently waiting, I figured this is a must try. CORRECT! I spent 1 month of my life traveling India and this is as authentic as you can get with a full flavor profile. Each bite of my tacos was perfectly seasoned with a great flavor. The mint chutney added that extra spicy kick just as I had asked. Highly recommended from a hospitality professional.

Spicy shrimp by golly! It’s delish!!! I love Spice box– especially the Bollywood. When you order it the workers all yell Bollywood and it is their prize… so I get what all of the hollering is for… it’s like the Juliet Roberts of street walkers– it might be served out of a truck on the side of the street but it is damn good. They are kind and make great recommendations. They always have great service and delicious fare– have yet to have anything I don’t like and I am by no means an Indian Food lover, but they do it right!

In Calcutta, there is a tasty street food called a Kati Roll found on every corner. Typically, a paratha(less chew and thinner than Naan bread) is cooked before your eyes, dipped in an egg wash, and then filled with a mix of spicy onions and a meat(or paneer) of your choice. More sauces are added, then you pay the equivalent of like 2 bucks, and you devour it whole. I’s not healthy, but it’s similar to eating a taco at 2 in the morning. Kati Rolls taste even better if you’ve been drinking :) ANYWAY, Spice Box has a version of the Kati Roll, called a «Spice Wrap». I’ve had the«Channa Spice Wrap»(channa = chick peas) and the«Shrimp Spice Wrap». Both are fantastic. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, still tender, and the channa were deliciously savory. More Indian restaurants in Indianapolis should embrace India’s diverse food culture. Spice Nation finally does South Indian vegetarian(with lot’s of room for improvement), and now Spice Box is doing Indian street food. Bring it on!
