Food was good. The service was so slow. It took over 2 hours to get a drink, entrée and the bill. The server kept walking by us and did not check in. If it wasn’t for the food I would rate this place with a one star.

OMG!!! This place is awesome! For starters, REAL margaritas. Not the syrupy cramp that you get most places. You can get theirs with Habanero or jalapeño to give them just a touch of heat, which is a nice touch. The food? Absolutely fantastic! We started with the«Cowboy Caviar, a mixture of black eyed peas, corn, bell pepper, shallots and avocado all marinated in lime — fantastic! It just got better from there. Coco-Carnitas Tacos, pork belly marinated in Coca-Cola. Tostada Camerones — out of this world, and the Elotes — Mexican corn — ditto. Come eat at this place!!!

This place is great! Everything we had was very tasty and flavorful. The service was spot on. I can’t believe we haven’t come here sooner.

After reading all the positive reviews, my wife and I finally stopped in for a dinner on a Saturday night. We arrived to a pretty full house, but were willing to wait to sit on the patio. During the wait we be tired to the bar to order drinks. After about 10 minutes of being ignored by the bartender — literally standing at the bar and not being acknowledged while they walked by, even though I was holding a drink menu and trying to ask a question — we abandoned the bar and waited to be seated. Fortunately, it only took about 15 minutes to get our table. We quickly ordered a couple appetizers, which was a mistake. The cheese was delicious, as were the salsas, but we got way too much. Luckily we made that mistake, or we would have been starving by the time our meal came(more on that later. Back to the drinks. They have a lot of tequila and cocktails, but no selection of local beer. Just the standard Mexican options. Thanks, but no thanks. I settled on the spicy margarita and my wife got the traditional. Both were tasty, albeit very small for the price and not very strong. We ordered food after our appetizers came. Then we waited. And waited. And waited, for a total of about 45 minutes. Finally when we got a server to come to our table, we inquired about when our food might be done. We were told the kitchen was backed up but they were finishing the Mexican corn now. About 15 minutes later I inquired again, and the manager visited our table. Honesty this time– they lost or ticket and just started making it. I just don’t understand why the first person lied to me. I wasn’t upset, I wasn’t even hungry after the appetizers, I was just curious about why it was taking so long. The manager offered to give us 50% off our entrees and bring me a new drink, which was a nice gesture. The patrons sharing our communal table were regulars, and suggested that I allow the manager to pick my cocktail– apparently he has a gift. I obliged. Our food arrived shortly after the encounter with the manager, and the tacos were delicious. I was a little surprised that the veggie option my wife got was fried, but she said it was good. The short rib taco was by far my favorite. After finishing our meal, about 20 minutes after my encounter with the manager, we got our bill. I never got that cocktail on the house, but they did take 50% off our entrees. I paid the bill and left. The food is very good. The prices are very high. The portions are pretty small. And the service is absolutely some of the most absent that I’ve ever experienced. The staff was nice, but they were very slow and never delivered on their promises. In this race instance, I’m going to have to judge a place based on one visit. I doubt I’ll be back.

LOVED this place! I had the strawberry margarita and it was delicious. I’m not a big drinker so that’s a big compliment from me. It was a little overpriced for the size but very good. I had the carnitas taco, papas(potato) taco and elotes(Mexican street corn) for my meal. All of it was tasty! The corn wasn’t the best I’ve had but it was good. The tacos were both very flavorful. The atmosphere was great and our server was extremely friendly and helpful with menu questions and suggestions. Great night… great friends… great food!

Went here to try something new. It is a newer restaurant/bar that was new to town. Who doesn’t love tacos and tequila?! My husband and I went fairly late at night, around 10pm. Service was extremely slow. It wasn’t extremely busy but a steady flow of people. Most people were there to drink, not eat, but we were there for dinner. When we finally recieved our food(for two) almost an hour later, it was cold. We had it sent back. Round two was fine. The descriptions of the food sound more intriguing than they tasted. The drinks were fairly unique and seemed to be why people were there… for the tequila.

Can’t wait to try again. ALL the food was good. Slow late Sunday afternoon and the staff was super friendly, not off put by us at all. We tried a bunch of items, tacos enchiladas, sides, salsas, the rice is actually good. Most Mexican places, rice is an after thought. Our sever Lindsey, was awesome, quick and attentive and very accommodating to us. Even changing tables was a «no problem» with a smile. We will be back. It’s especially nice to get a very well made marg for $ 7. No, it’s not a fishbowl size, but it’s also not made with rock gut Tequilla. Bravo Sangrita, well done.

I’d probably give them 3 stars if our hostess/server was friendlier. She didn’t crack a smile the entire time. The margaritas were just ok. We got the salsa verde, which wasn’t amazing, but the cowboy caviar was great! Our food took too long to come out and when it did they brought the wrong thing. Then they brought my(super dry but flavorful enchiladas) out 10 minutes before everyone else’s, then my husbands torta came, good but salty. We eventually had to ask about our kids potato tacos and rice and beans. My 4 year old told me the beans were too salty and boy was she right. I was really expecting more for the price and the other ratings. Décor was cool though!

I love the Sangrita Saloon. It takes Mexican to a more upscale level. We’ve eaten here twice now. The first time, my wife and I each selected a few tacos and a side of beans. It was good, but when we saw the main entrees roll out to the other tables around us, we’d wished we would have had them. The tacos, were very good though! The next visit, I had the toastada and she had the enchilada. So good. I didn’t try hers, but she said — «oh wow»… pretty sure that is a good thing :). The toastada with shrimp was excellent. Crispy corn tortilla with beans topped with another tortilla with shrimp and all the tasty fixin’s — my wife had it right — «oh wow» Inside the restaurant is small and quaint. There are tables as in a standard restaurant. There is also one larger community table that looked fun. We went with the private table though. There was great music playing — not too loud, just loud enough to hear it but still was able to have a cozy conversation. They have a bar that looks fun. We ordered a margarita — classic on the rocks with salt. They are real — no mixes. And, they are delicious! The service here was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. We just ate here a few days ago and was told the outdoor patio is getting ready to open! We’ll be back soon for that experience! Sangrita makes my list of places to visit in Indiana!

Sangrita is a well-kept Broad Ripple secret that I’m about to spill: Psst: Chef Joshua Huffman broke out from Bakersfield to take over the kitchen, and I’m sure as hell glad he did. His incredible Mexican menu is modern and plentiful. Psst: Sangrita partners up with Garden Table, Amelia’s, Smoking Goose, and The Gallery Pastry Shop. It’s another great reason to support local. Psst: There’s over 120 spirits to choose from. The not-so-sweet margaritas are a great place to start. Psst: I had the Calabacitas and Taco de Papa for«dessert» because I couldn’t leave without having tried something from every section of the menu. Best dish I tried was the Tostada Camarones(shrimp tostada), and my favorite surprise was the Cowboy Kale Salad. Include both of them in your order, and you’ll also have bites of the Jicama Slaw and Cowboy Caviar(aka more great tastes). Psst: It’s a smaller, quaint space, but you’re going to feel pretty trendy whether you’re at the bar or the lounge. Oh, and I can’t forget to mention the patio — bring on the summer nights! Secret’s out. Head to Sangrita and spread the word.

Best friend and I trekked through an impending snow storm for girls’ night at Sangrita last week and basically ended up with the whole place to ourselves! So customer service? Two thumbs up. Thankfully I’d starved myself since lunch so I could feast to my heart’s content. Cocktails? Yep. Had the Manzanita something(~$ 9) and it was delish, less sweet/more tart than I’d hoped for, but cinnamony and fall-esque. Don’t know what you want to drink or have certain flavors in mind? Just ask the bartender and he’ll whip you up a handcrafted cocktail better than you even described. Queso fundido? Check. Don’t forget to add the chorizo. I am ashamed to say I ate half the bowl which should have served 3−4… Tacos? I had them(~4 a piece). Pollo was pretty average, nothing memorable. Pork shoulder was fantastic. Get this one. Also had an elote which, unfortunately, the corn kernels on my cob were the size of mini chocolate chips. :(had they been bigger, it would’ve been worth the $ 3. Last but not least, we had the tres leches which was good, I ate basically all of it(cheat day?). Not the best tres leches I’ve ever had, but it’ll do the job if you’re like me and believe dinner isn’t dinner without dessert. Overall, solid experience and I would definitely come back. Our server was super nice and informative, and our bill(after checking in on Unilocal!) wasn’t too overwhelming for everything we got.

I’d passed Sangrita so many times and had it bookmarked as well, so I was happy when the suggestion to try it out presented itself! I opted for the traditional marg and I have to say, my tastebuds were beggin for more! Had it not been on a weeknight, I would have kept them comin! I’m a bit of a margarita snob, so for this to be on my top three list, I was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is cool, really low key, old school classy, and the staff is marvelous! So helpful and attentive, you’ll think you’d been friends with them for years. Percent stop for a first date or an intimate gathering with friends in bripp!

The good: small but focued menu of tasty sounding items, they make a mean margarita, great atmosphere The bad: Seating right next to the door which stinks in the winter, bad service experience recently A girlfriend and I stopped in to Sangrita for lunch on a recent weekend. We walked into and found the place about ¼ full and no one at the host stand. We waited(and waited and waited) before being told by the bartender(actually the only guy working the front of the house) to sit anywhere because he was really busy. He was the only one acting a host/server/bartender so service was slow. I’m not sure why there wouldn’t be at least two people working a weekend lunch shift, but he was doing his best to keep up with everyone. My girlfriend and I sat at the bar and each enjoyed a margarita. I’m always on the hunt for a good margarita made without the premade mix, so I would recommend their margs. We found ourselves wishing we hadn’t sat at the bar because the bartender was chatty in a bad way. Usually I love talking with bartenders, but this guy was just super negative and had something negative to say about everything which put us off. I can’t really fault the whole restaurant for the bad service, but it was enough to make me want to avoid sitting at the bar next time! The food was excellent. We enjoyed the fundido with chorizo! I had a buffalo quesadilla and my friend raved about her carnitas taco and pickled carrots. I loved that the menu was small enough to know they really got each item right. I’d recommend these items to anyone, especially that fundido! All in all, food was great but service was irritating.

Great margaritas, Local food, Cute atmosphere. I really liked Sangrita. I came in for a small gathering of friends on a weekday evening, and we had a great(if small) meal of tacos and appetizers. The cowboy caviar was great, if a little basic. A nice combination of black beans, tomatoes, avocado, and corn. I also enjoyed their trio of salsas. I found their chips a little bland, but with the sauces/dips they were tasty. I’d like to come back to try out their patio, which I imagine will be really fun in the warmer months. And I’d like to try more than just appetizers too. Overall, a good and necessary addition of tex-mex cuisine to Broadripple.

I really enjoy Sangrita and will definitely keep coming back. Their papas tacos is one of my favorite«street» tacos that I’ve had in Indy. It’s basically a fried taco with fried seasoned potatoes(and other goodies) inside. Their corn on the cob is amazing seasoned and is the perfect compliment to the tacos. Although their house margarita is pretty good, I don’t think it is worth the price you pay(but how can you not get a marg when eating tacos??). Sangrita has a very cozy hip feel but not overly so. I really enjoyed eating on the patio during the summer.

I liked Sangrita. For some reason, I don’t think its any place I will be racing back to any time soon, but it was fun to try once. For Bakersfield fans/downtowners, Sangrita reminded me of a significantly smaller Bakersfield. More upscale Mexican with an American twist. I went with the Margarita Classica — just a typical margarita basically. It was strong and pretty good. I wasn’t feeling tacos or anything too Mexican-y or filling, so I went with the kale salad and I actually really enjoyed it — the dressing had a kick of spice and the«cowboy caviar» on top(which was basically beans, corn, tomatoes, etc.) It was delicious. My friend and I also shared 2 different salsas — both were good. Our server was also doubling as the host and I wouldn’t necessarily call her the friendliest waitress I’ve ever experienced. But, she came and took care of us when we needed it, so no real complaints. I can see this being a hectic place to go on a busy night or during the winter, because there is very limited seating, but we had no trouble being seated at a two top on a Wednesday evening. Overall, I’d recommend Sangrita for drinks with friends — you can always snack on chips and queso while you’re at it.

One word describes this place: Solid. I am from the southwest, and if there is anything I know, it’s tacos and tequila. While Sangrita Saloon doesn’t necessarily blow your socks off and visit you in your dreams, it’s a solid option for something simple and pleasant in Broad Ripple. The drinks and food are dirt cheap and are much better than anything else you might get at any of the pubs in the area. The Food: definitely yummy, but not an explosion of flavor or spice. I used their table sauces to spice up my food and it definitely made a positive difference. I want to come back and try their rellenos and«hot» salsa. The standard salsa was pretty bland but still adequate. They offer spicier salsa for a couple bucks more and I definitely want to try it next time around. I had the Refritos(seasoned black beans) and arroz(seasoned rice). They both were done properly, comforting and still mildly flavorful, just like in Mexico. The Service: no complaints whatsoever, very friendly staff and I was never left waiting or wanting for more. Beverages: I had a classic margarita and that hit the spot for me, but they have an expansive and diversified tequila selection that I am eager to explore. Ambience: casual, clean, mildly trendy, and the outdoor patio was cozy but pleasant. More of an intimate dining or drinking experience, leave your masses and crowds a couple blocks over on the main drag. Why I didn’t give five stars: they really should extend their hours and be open for lunch, the food was good but not amazing, and while I love that they are dog«friendly,» the experience really ends at the table and poor fido will be left without water or proper accommodation. I am eager to give this place another shot. I believe the right ingredients are there for a five star experience, I just didn’t get to experience it this time around.

The best things on my plate were the steak tacos and corn. For $ 12 I’m not quite sure about it. The menu was a little limited. The space was small and we had a 90 minute wait. We waited the entire time. The nice feature about that was that you received a text and knew what your place was in line. Bartenders were good and we waited in that area and happened upon a seat after standing awhile. I advised to get there an hour early to put your name in.

Buckle up ya’ll, this is going to be a bumpy review. After reading a rave editorial about Sangrita on the Indy Star website, a fellow Unilocaler and I decided to drop in on their second day of biz to see what the buzz was about. Crazed for tacos and tequila, we were greeted by the sweetest hostess who took our phone number and told us she would text is when our table was ready(yay, technology!) So, in the interest of tequila, we went to the bar to check out the libations. And whoa. This was the best part of the evening! I got the La Pipa, a refreshing mixture of classic margarita and coconut/pineapple juices. Guys… Mind blown. My friend got the blood orange margarita and it was equally mind blowing. After a few sips, we were seated(rather faster than we expected which was nice!) Here comes the disappointing part. We were seated in the bar area(essentially a long L shaped couch with square coffee tables as the pace settings.) Promptly we ordered and received our house salsa(because you always have to try the house salsa) and it was a little lackluster. We added some of the orange hot sauce(yum), which brought some much needed flavor to the mix. We ordered our main dishes within ten minutes of being seated. We both ordered the skirt steak tacos, but I chose the crispy rice and pinto beans for my accompanying sides whereas she chose the black beans and the elotes. The waitress, god bless her, at the 75 minute mark of waiting for our food to come, came to offer us some fundido on the house for our wait, which we accepted. This fundido was probably to tastiest portion the meal. The oil they drizzle on top was excellent. I would absolutely order the fundido over the salsa any day! But alas, we were still an hour and a half into our food order and still no tacos. All the tables around us, who had in fact been seated after us, had received their food. But we poor lasses were still without taco. We had essentially arrived at the point where we were just going to pay for our salsa and leave, when lo and behold our food arrived. I expected that after waiting an hour and a half for our food, that it was going to be some damn good tacos. But it seemed our disappointment was destined to continue. The steak was overcooked and tough, seemingly flavorless besides the crema on top. The crispy rice was also lusterless. The pinto beans, however, were the saving grace. Spicy and savory, exactly what I was expecting from a place boasting their culinary superiority. At the end of the day, our meal was comped since we had waited so long for our food. We never did get a solid answer on why that was exactly. We suspect they lost our ticket, I’m chalking it up to the fact they had only been open two days. I suspect once they get the kinks out of the system, they’ll have 4 and 5 star potential.
