PitchFeast is a monthly micro-grant dinner hosted by Dreamapolis, an organization dedicated to helping entrepreneurs start businesses and projects that improve their cities. The event usually takes place on the last Monday of every month. Here is how it works: $ 5 get you into the event, and admission includes Sun King and food from a local vendor. During first part of event, you get a chance to network and socialize w/attendees who are also interested in learning about their community. You can also interact w/the presenters to get more in-depth information about their ideas/businesses. During the presentations, three local entrepreneurs get on stage to pitch their ideas to the audience. After the presentations, the audience votes for their favorite pitch, and the presenter w/the most votes gets the proceeds for the night. The winning presenter is invited to come back to the next event to talk about their progress. I have had a chance to attend most of the PitchFeast events, and always come away re-energized about the community. I’ve learned so much from people who are starting their own businesses, creating new organizations, and finding ways to do something from the ground up. And the setup of the event is cool too. There are food/drinks, networking, good people, and a chance to expand your horizons. Who knows? You might be listening to the next big thing to come from Indianapolis!
