Been living here a few years. Can’t afford to move. Really great place to live under old owners, but new owners/management is terrible. Too many pit bulls that attack other dogs are a problem. Lack of grounds keeping is also a big issue. My main gripe is how they enter your apartment without giving notice or leaving notice that they were there… and when they DO give notice, they let contractors inside your apartment without Oak Lake supervision. I thought it was state law that they couldn’t do that… someone had to accompany a non-employee. I had to get a camera just to monitor the place while I’m gone. When I save enough money to move, I’m outta here. I need to feel safe from my own apartment management/maintenance…that is, when we can keep a maintenance person… the manager is so terrible they all quit with no notice. I’d look elsewhere if I were you. This used to be a great complex under JC Hart… but now, it’s just an investment property/income stream for some high rollers that live in Chicago.

I mean, it’s the northwest side of town. I’m not expecting luxury living here, but I do have standards. We’ve been here since May 2013 and haven’t had any major problems. When you decide to live in an apartment complex, you accept certain inevitabilities. Noise, parking, and pets. About that… Noise — All we hear are neighbors either slam the front door or stomp down the stairs. Whatevs. No issues with loud music or people yelling. Bass music really drives me up a wall, and I would say that I heard more of that when I lived in Broad Ripple than I do here. Parking — We made an investment in carports since there isn’t a lot of parking near our building. Depending on where you live, parking can be limited. I would suggest scoping out the parking BEFORE choosing a unit to rent. Pets — There’s a dog park on the property and pet stations around the complex for residence to clean up after their dogs. I haven’t had any issues with people not picking up after their pets, and the office sends notices to remind people to clean up after their dogs. Always see dogs on leashes, and the owners are usually really nice. When we were looking at this place for an apartment, we came in with a list of «must haves». Since this place met our location needs, we spoke to the property manager, Rhonda, about what units would be available for our time frame. After looking around the grounds many times and talking with the office staff about the pros and cons, we finally decided to rent here. Unfortunately, we couldn’t see the unit until it became available, but it was good enough for our needs. So far, the only cons have been some of the shady neighbors. Thankfully, my husband installed an alarm in our apartment, just in case. What a guy!

The apartments are awful. The whole place is sodden with dog urine. It also has extremely thin walls through which you can hear your neighbor snore. Hen when you move out they charge extraneous fees to pay for their upgrades.
