First time here and the last! Signs are posted about not using your camera but yet they aren’t enforced, this causes a very big disruption especially when using the flash and taking selfies most of the show. On top of that you’re also not supposed to talk during the show, after all we all did just pay to HEAR someone else tell jokes but yet the table next to us was talking very loud the entire show while taking selfies! It was so bad the comedian even called them out on their rudeness but that didn’t stop them nor did the staff of Morty’s. So basically I just waisted a bunch of money to be annoyed by a table of rude drunks. I guess Morty’s cares more about the revenue they made off the alcohol rather than the repeat business they could’ve had.

Morty’s is the only comedy club in this part of the state that is consistently able to get major headlining comedians. The food is always delicious & innovative, with generous portions. 2 purchase minimum is standard no matter where you are, so I don’t understand all the complaining about that– my word, they have bottles of water for a couple bucks, buy 2 of those & quit your whining, you cheapskates. Anyway, Morty’s also is kind enough to relax those requirements– a large section of their drink menu includes drinks that count as 2, fulfilling the 2 purchase requirement in one purchase, something no other comedy club I’ve ever been to offers, even though the 2 purchase minimum requirement is completely identical to every single other comedy club in all the land. At least Morty’s doesn’t charge Chicago or LA prices, in spite of being able to attract talent of that caliber. Go to their website & sign up for text alerts– constantly they offer free or reduced price tickets for really high quality comedians, always with enough advance notice that you have time to find a sitter if needed. This is definitely the best place to go see really funny people, at incredibly reasonable prices, in a really nice setting.

I am not a fan ATALL. Now, I’m not a big comedy person. I don’t really enjoy comedy shows or comedy movies. So I will start by saying that. The comedians were a little bit less than ok. And I say that because there were maybe 1 out of 3 that actually made me chuckle from time to time. But again, is coming from someone who really does not care for anything comedy. I just came for the drinks and the atmosphere period. Being around people who are laughing and really enjoying themselves makes me happy. Now that you understand the context behind this review I will let you know why this location is only receiving one star. Number 1 the server we had was not only rude as hell but was disrespectful and lazy. There were times when he rushed our orders, got upset that we didn’t know what drinks we were wanted and then got even more upset that we were asking him about a referral. And then, if he felt we were taking too long to make a decision on something, he would either start tapping on his notepad and start looking at other people to let you know he was annoyed or he would give you the menu and say I’m just going to come back to you. He clearly was not invested in my table at all… Well, until a pretty young lady who arrived late joined our party. Then his attitude seemed to change completely. He all of a sudden had patience as he waited on her, became okay about giving her a referral and made sure that her food was brought to her in a very timely fashion. The whole entire table notices change from this waiter. It was insulting. Number 2) To make matters even worse, we were sitting in the back, with a table of seven people, so we thought it would be okay to maybe comment on jokes from time to time. Nope, management got really upset and of course because of our ethnicity(yep, I said it) told us that we were too loud. BOO! This comment always seems to be the one management makes when they feel that you are not the norm and you are not acting in a manner that they would like you to. It was funny as a few booths were very excited about their alcohol level, but never got a visit from management. But I digress. Number 3) Lastly the food was not good at all and the fact two of us got sick shortly after eating the nachos and the tater tots. And of course you all know about the food and drink minimum which makes no sense. This place was so disappointing for someone that just wanted to have a good drink and enjoy the atmosphere. I will never be back and there’s nothing anyone can do to get me back here. Nothing!

Miss Pat was awesome, but the service is horrible and this new place is dirtier than the last one. We actually were sticking to the floor. Disgusting. Clean up your house, Morty’s.

Morty’s moved to 82nd street and all I can say is Chris and the other owners are brilliant. We have been to the old location many many many times to see some of the best local and touring comedians in the country and we’ve always had a blast. Now the new chapter begins. They moved into a closed Don Pablo’s and pretty much kept the décor. I like that. A comedy club with a Mexican theme. Hilarious. Here’s a tip– if you are looking for something to do during the week, on Tuesday’s they have the Indy Motorpugs. Chris Bowers, Shaun Latham, Miguel Dalmau, Todd McComas, Austin Reel and Seth Johnson are the Motorpugs team and let me tell you… this is a show that can’t be missed! Great food, cold beer, full bar and great service. If you love to laugh or even if you hate laughing. This is the place to be!

It’s been a while since I went to Morty’s. I used to perform here quite often at a variety show that was put on years ago. So this was my first time visiting since around 2008. They were having an open mic comedy show although I’m not sure if it’s a weekly thing or sporadic. The cost was five dollars, but once you are at the box office, you see a sign that tells you how to get free admission to non-special shows(shows w/national features I assume). It’s pretty simple; just take a short online survey about Morty’s and then you get free admisison. Since it’s a comedy venue, I wouldn’t be surprised if that free admission would cover you and four or five other friends. I know other venues that operate like that. How they get you is the minimum. There is a two item minimum, which I prefer if you’re going to have a minimum that it be ITEM vs DRINK. That way, I don’t feel pressured to order something I don’t want just so I don’t get kicked out. They have a decent menu w/several sandwiches and typical bar food(nachos, cheese fries, dip, etc). I ordered Nachos Tachos(tater tot nachos) and my sister ordered regular nachos. Both were huge in quantity and they didn’t cheap out on the cheese(some places will give you a 150 nachos w/enough cheese to cover two chips). They were heavily loaded and pretty good. I ate as much as I could and brought the rest home. I admit this: I snuck my own bottle of water in my purse. A case of water from Costco costs about 4 bucks. I refuse to pay $ 3 under any circumstance for a single bottle of water(My preferred drink of choice). So I brought my own water to quench my thirst(sorry not sorry) and ordered a glass of wine to take care of my mininum. The drink prices were a bit pricey, but again, since free admission is so easy to get, I guess it makes sense. The comedians — there were 17 performers and only about 5 that were actually competiting for the winner’s title. Some were funny, some were horrible and some fell in between. The winner is chosen by a round of applause and the more comedians a person has in the audience, the higher his odds of winning no matter how funny(or lack thereof) he/she was. The host was a woman comedian w/a couple funny one liners and the rest of the open mic’ers were men. The crowd was somewhat mixed and the lineup was a total mix up of ethnicities(my favorite). Overall it wasn’t a bad time. They seat you, they also have a DJ in the back holding the crowd until showtime. Showtime started right on time and the waiter was pretty good. Gratuities are included in your bill automatically no matter how big or small your party is. It’s worth a return and I know they have a lot of special events, so I may return. Final though, they have a screen backdrop showing advertising while the show is waiting to start and guess who I saw on the big screen??? Unilocal !!! It was a great reminder to check-in and well, it’s just always great to see a business shout out Unilocal !!!

Looking for something fun to do while my mom was in town visiting, we decided a stand-up comedy show would do the trick. We saw comedian Ben Glieb, with opener KT Tatara. Both were very funny. We were seated at a table right next to the stage(I’m guessing this is not such a desirable spot, since the place was almost full when we arrived and this table was still open). But it was cool — no heckling unless you heckled the comedian yourself. Our server was very busy but it didn’t prevent her from checking in frequently. We felt the admission price was very reasonable. This club has a two-items per person minimum — seems you can substitute food if you don’t want two alcoholic beverages. We’ll be back to check out more comedians soon!

I love Morty’s! I started out going here by getting free radio tix, but since then have been buying tickets. Have seen Brian Posehn and a number of great acts here. I always laugh, and have a good time! There is a two drink minimum, but I think that is an industry standard. And really. I would be getting at least 2 drinks nonetheless.

Recently, my wife and I stopped in here for the first time and saw Pat McAfee perform some of his stand up comedy. We arrived pretty early and ended up sitting pretty close to the stage. They led us to our seats earlier than advertised, which could have made some people who showed up later a bit upset. Actually, I know this happened because I heard some individuals complaining. I don’t know if this is a normal practice as this was somewhat of a unique show. As others have said, there really isn’t a bad seat in the place as every table has a decent view of the stage. You are packed in pretty snug, which I think is normal for comedy clubs: they want to get as many people in as possible. The chairs are set up in such a way that some people have their table behind them. This would be awkward if you were planning on eating during the show. Luckily, the waitstaff gets to you pretty quickly to take your order. If you get to the show early enough, you would have more than enough time to eat before the show starts. Prices for drinks and food were reasonable. There is a two drink minimum and they automatically add an 18% gratuity to your bill. Since we had already eaten a bit earlier, we decided to just get the mozzarella sticks. They were pretty tasty and I would order them again. The wait staff was very friendly and our waiter checked on us multiple times. I would definitely come back here again to check out other comedians. Morty’s is pretty close to our house on the north side and the free parking is a plus!

My wife and I have been to Morty’s several times. The waitstaff is always really attentive and ready to make the experience a good one. The food selection is small but good – we really like the pretzel breadsticks. The seating can be a little crazy. All the tables are right up against each other and the chairs are all faced forward but placed on either side of each table. This means that if you have a table in front of you, then the people in front of you will be turning around to share it. And if the table’s behind you, you better hope the people sitting behind it aren’t too dodgy as you’ll have your back to them and your food and drinks much of the night while you watch the show. It’s also very difficult to get out if you need to make a restroom run, so check before you get stuck. The upside of this intimate setting is that there really aren’t any bad seats in the house. You’re close to the comedian no matter where you are and really feel a direct part of the act. One last minor issue I had on our latest visit. We ordered a bucket of drinks. My wife had 312s and I ordered Guinness. They serve Guinness from the can, which is fine. And they pre-open bottles in the buckets so that no one has to fumble with a bottle opener during the show. But they also pre-opened my cans of Guinness and didn’t offer a glass. Guinness cans have nitrogen balls that pop when you open them and then you’r meant to pour them pretty much immediately into a glass to get that Guinness head. Pre-opening them and serving them without a glass is a bit like serving apple pie cold without the crust. Yes, you’re getting the basic important flavors, but the whole experience is pretty much ruined. So just something they should watch in the future. And a woman at the table right next to mine had to send her mixed drink back. This was a Saturday night, so the bartender on duty shouldn’t have been their backup. So you might expect to have subpar bar service.

Recently went to Morty’s for the first time to see the Pat McAfee Sunday Night Football special and we had a great time. There really isn’t a bad seat in the whole place(I know since we were in the back row). It’s a small place(probably 200 people) so you really get a personal feel with the comedian. Drink prices were reasonable(they had deals on 6 bottle buckets — good variety of options) and I didn’t get a good like at the menu although some of the food coming out smelled really good. I’ll definitely be back to see some more comedy in this cool northside comedy joint.

I go for the mudslides, tater tots and Trial by Laughter, the recorded comedy nights. They have such awesome guests come in and are very funny. These are when I always go. The 2 drink minimum is perfect as I can have 2 Guinesses and be golden for the evening.

First, the highlights. Marty’s is located on northside. It is hard to find late night adult venues north of BR so these are always a nice addition. Free parking is a bonus. Conveniently located between several restaurants which offer everything from upscale to Irish Pub so a great spot to meet for dinner and a show with everything easily walkable or within a block. Be sure to complete the free ticket drawings on the table for an opportunity to win a set of free tix. These are great for office get togethers or birthday parties. Groupons, and several other options pop up throughout the year to make this free or extremely reasonable entry. The entry area can become packed if it is a sold out show with first come first serve seating. The previous show exits through the lobby vs out the back so plan for congestion or hang out till closer to showtime vs planning on grabbing a drink at the bar. The comedians are usually hilarious, hecklers are kept to a minimum so you can enjoy the show, plenty of front row tables if you want to be in the mix or back row upper level if you are a low key laugher. Specialty drinks can be a bit pricey but they offset this with counting as two towards the drink minimum. Several beers and wines for under $ 5. A great evening for groups and would highly recommend if you enjoy stand up comedy.

This is a phenomenal comedy club. Great acts, attentive service, and a wonderful atmosphere for comedy. As a performer and an audience member, I’ve enjoyed every show I’ve been to. They’re committed to bringing the best comedians to Indy and creating a great show. Don’t miss Morty’s!

We were entertained by three different comedians, and we had great seats. Looked like most seats had good views. Service was adequate and the atmosphere pleasant. The headliner was Sarah Colonna. She was great, but all her jokes were about sex and relationships(similar to 2nd comic). It would have been nice to have less vulgarity and crudeness about sex and more smart jokes that didn’t need profane language to spice them up. Drink prices were not too bad, but next time we will buy our tickets on line and save $ 5 each.

The show with Stan Chen was good. I did not care for the fact that five of us had to share a table. Hard to eat. I did not have a problem with the 2 items minimum but the online menu specifically said«bottomless refills» and«free refills». I was charged an extra $ 4 for a juice. I questioned the waitress but she acted like she had never heard of the Free Refill deal on the menu. That was seriously annoying. Don’t stiff your customers. We’d ordered about $ 100 in food, and you couldn’t throw in a single refill?

I’ve been to Morty’s many many times. When it opened under the first management company it wasn’t well-run. Not that it’s under its current ownership things are much smoother, acts booked are awesome. As most comedy clubs it can be pretty crowded in the chairs. I only have 4 stars because overall the décor needs updated. Our menu was literally falling apart and our server wasn’t very good this last time. He was very slow initially getting our orders despite being the first people to sit in his section. Hope Morty’s keeps booking great acts!

Don’t get out to comedy clubs often but I won a pair of free tickets to a show so figured I would make the trip out. Man did this make me remember how much I enjoy going to see comedians and realize I probably need to do this more often. The comedians we saw headlined by Flip Schultz were all great but obviously that can very depending on who you see. As for the stuff that should stay the same the place was very clean and our server was excellent. They offer a few local craft beers which is nice if you are into that type of thing. The food I had was loaded fries which was pretty good. The only real negative I would give is it can be a little pricey(especially the drinks).

Overall my experience at Morty’s was great! My boyfriend brought me here, and we saw Vince Morris. He was absolutely hilarious. I couldn’t get enough. I gave it a 4 star because I didn’t really care for my black bean burger. The tarter tot nachos, I could have just ate that alone, it was amazing. The drinks were pretty good also. I definitely recommend coming her with a group of friends or for a date or a night out with friends.
