How about a one-word review: YUCK. Even on a Monday morning, I still didn’t feel safe walking from car to store. Random people walking around looking at people walking from their cars. There’s a security guard in the entrance – always a reassuring sign I’m in a classy store. There’s a lot squeezed in to this store. I bought a few things and zoomed out of here.

This Marsh used to be one of the best in Indy when it was first built in the 90’s in a piece of land that was just a cornfield at the intersection of 56th and Georgetown. It was modeled after the proven Marsh model from the 80’s-90’s with a large lobby area, and a very set way of navigating the store starting with produce, then grocery, then meat, fridge and frozen. However, Marsh underestimated the population boom that was starting in Pike township and the size of the store resulted in Marsh squeezing in more aisles as grocers have starting carrying more products than traditional grocery. The result is this Marsh seems very small, the aisles over crowded, and the selection(especially in produce) severely limited. There is no pharmacy at this location because there is simply no place to put it. In addition, the neighborhood, although far from completely thugged out, has taken a turn for the worse as the shoddily built apartments along Georgetown have not aged gracefully. The slumlords of these immense complexes never put any money into these dwellings and the rents have plummeted, thus allowing more riffraff in this somewhat quiet area. The staff, although friendly, lacks knowledge and professional presentation. If this store were not(relatively) newer, Marsh would probably have torn it town and replaced it with a better design to serve the population and justify those high prices.
