On a beautiful, warm summer night, I wanted to find a place where I could sit outside and enjoy the evening. I found this amazing restaurant, with the best fish and chips I have ever had! The fish batter is slightly spicy and an absolute«must try»! The service was incredibly attentive and friendly– the best actually! It will most certainly be my «go to «restaurant every time I visit Indianapolis!

Great family friendly restaurant! We come here quite often and have never been disappointed. Service is great and good food. We love the kids options and Tuesday’s kids eat free. For a busy family of five this is one of our go-to favorites!

Atmosphere is excellent(love the wooded view) and service was decent. The tenderloin sandwich is listed as «lightly breaded» in the menu but it was served«mostly breaded» and was accommodating but generally unremarkable. The Jamaican jerk Flatbread was tasty and the mandarin oranges offered a sweet contrast to the mild jerk chicken. The soup of the day(buffalo chicken chowder) was overwhelmed by buffalo sauce flavor and was left uneaten. It still showed up on the bill despite clearly letting the server know that it was disliked. Overall the experience was satisfactory but in no way memorable.

Not extremely impressed. Got the Rangoon Flatbread. Had a clump of imitation crab meat on it and sweet/sour drizzle. Said it had cream cheese but it was very un-noticeable. Service wasn’t that great and level of enthusiasm and ambiance lacked. Meal was sub par and not really a place is frequent.

This was my first experience eating lunch here. I was very excited to try some of the menu items. Even though Pizza is in the name you’ll be surprise by the abundance of delicious menu options I have a thin crust pepperoni pizza and a salad with Greek dressing it was perfect portion for lunch size and the flavors was absolutely delicious. The staff was friendly and forthcoming will definitely return again.

This rating is 4.5 stars! Our youngest son, 21, is a true pizza connoisseur, and MacKenzie River Pizza is his new«favorite pizza ever.» My favorite pizza: the Rancher with its variety of meats and wonderful stringy mozzarella on a hand-tossed crust. Son’s fave: the very-pepperoni pizza on a thin crust which is not TOO thin but quite satisfying for a crunchy-crust lover, while still holding up to generous toppings. We have eaten at MRPG twice in the last month. Both times, we had pizza, salads, and pastas — all generous, delicious and consistent. Recipes and freshness is a cut above the average pubby kind of food. With this varied menu, one can accommodate kids, picky eaters, and foodie friends. DECOR: The interior of the restaurant looks like it belongs at Yellowstone, with its rough timbers and upside-down boat hanging from the rafters — not over-decorated, but clean and… woodsy. Service: Both times we brought a large party, and both times we were accommodated quickly and efficiently. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. MRPG is now our go-to in the Castleton area!

Stopped in on a Saturday evening. A single bartender was trying to serve an entire bar full of patrons, plus the 8 or 10 tables in the bar area. We waited at our table for 5 – 10 minutes without being so much as acknowledged and left. I don’t blame the staff, the poor bartender was trying hard against an impossible task. Management is at fault here.

I really appreciate places that cater to big parties without the eye rolls, groans, and attitude.(At least not in front of us). Mackenzie River is does a great job taking care of my big group of friends. They are friendly and efficient. Our waitress tonight, Jodi, is very sweet. We really appreciate you tolerating us Jodi! The food is good and we keep coming back. Thanks for good eats and good times.

Stopped in for dinner! The building looks like a nice place and there were a couple tables of people sitting outside, do my friend and I thought we’d try it out. Waitress was very friendly and helpful with our questions about the menu. Appetizer: Cheesy bread. Tasted like the breadsticks that you can get from a frozen box. Pizza: Same deal as the cheesy bread. I honestly have had better frozen pizzas. We each had one slice and took the rest home, where we proceeded to let it sit in the fridge for a day before throwing it out. Price: We paid $ 50(including tip) for our food and two beers. Quite disappointing considering it tasted like a frozen pizza. I won’t be stopping here again, and wouldn’t recommend it. Not because of service, because of the quality/taste of food.

I came in with high hopes! I mean… Four stars is pretty promising. This has to be one of the worst meals I’ve had in the city. Digiorno has that saying about their pizza not being delivery, but man I would have rather had a frozen pizza. The pizza we had was watery, the meat was gross and the crust was not much better. The meal started with their signature«Ski Sticks» which will most likely take you back to Bosco Sticks that your school lunch lady served up. The only redeeming quality about the place was the staff. They were all very nice and attentive.

There aren’t a ton of options in Castleton that really get me excited. This place is the exception. Whether it’s lunch or dinner this place always does a good job. I went today with coworkers. We had a lot to talk through, so we started off with the pork nachos. They came out piled at least 6 inches high with cheese, peppers, salsa, beans, black olives, guacamole and of course shredded pork. The pork itself was sweet with just a hint of spice. The vegetables were bright and crisp and the guacamole was rich and creamy. Everything blended well together. My favorite thing was that unlike so many plates of nachos, the chips didn’t get soggy before we finished. I split a pepperoni pizza and fish tacos with a friend. I normally get one of their more exciting pizzas by my coworker isn’t as adventurous as I am. I was actually thrilled to get the pepperoni. This pizza was edge to edge covered with pepperoni. It was slightly spicy with tons of cheese. It was a great pizza and I may never forgive myself that it took this long to try it. We also got the fish tacos. Two huge burrito sized tacos were on the plate. These are probably the biggest fish tacos I have seen. Size doesn’t always mean tasty. Luckily they had a nice spice and the fish was cooked well. For a pizza place the tacos were pretty great. If it had been later in the day, I might have gotten a beer. They sport a decent selection of craft beers with A half dozen local options. I wouldn’t go just for the beer, but there are solid craft options

I just recently moved to Castleton area and am making a point to try all of local cuisine. Right accross the street from my apartment sits the Makinzie River Pizza Company. I had high expectations but all in all it fell a little short. We were seated as soon as we arrived but it took nearly 20 min for someone to come take our drink order. We ordered 3 margaritas and two mixed drinks. They don’t have a blender so they couldn’t make frozen ones, on big deal. However the bartender/server brought 2 drinks first and the rest about 10 minutes later. 45 min in we got our food which was pretty good but nothing that wowed me. The moral of this review is the service could have made this review better but it just wasn’t their night. I’ll give them a try again sometime and hopefully they’ll be a bit more attentive to their guests.

Weekending in Indianapolis with the in-laws, we decided to check out this local pizza joint. I was a bit confused at first by the décor. It’s called a Pizza Company, but the interior looks like a Montana-inspired burger/steak/red meat kind place. Those sort of things were offered, but we opted for the pizza. We ordered a large Rancher pizza and a small Thai Pie. The pizza crust was excellent– thin, but not super thin. Chewy, but not overly crispy. Definitely had a slight sourdough taste to it. I’m a fan. The Thai Pie featured Thai-inspired topping, like mandarin oranges, peppers, and peanuts. Very different, but very flavorful. The in-laws raved about this! The Rancher was definitely good too, but was more your run-of-the-mill pizza regarding toppings. I didn’t get a good glance at the menu, so I had thought that that it had sausage on it from sight, but the lack of seasoning made me think it was more just ground beef. The pepperoni were excellent, just a little crispy around the edges(to me, perfection). I would definitely go back here.

I’ve been to this location twice and the Westfield Blvd. location once. I prefer this one. The service is better and so is the atmosphere(less noisy and busy). The food is just average. It isn’t bad, but not a place I would seek out. I’ve had pizza twice and pasta once. The pizza is just ok. Average pizza. Not awesome, but edible. The buffalo mac is good, but it is more«Frank’s Hot Sauce» mac than true buffalo mac. Despite that, it was tasty, and I enjoyed my leftovers the next day. Their flourless chocolate cake is REALLY good. No complaints there! It’s even better than ones I’ve had at upscale restaurants. So fudgey and chocolatey… mmmm… Overall, Mackenzie is a perfectly okay restaurant. There are a lot better places, but it’s good for a low key family outing or casual dinner.

Tuesday night kids eat free!!! We came here for that reason because they wanted pizza and we didn’t want to spend much. First when you sit down they give the kids menus to color on and gold fish to snack on while you read the menu, genius. Our starter was lodge polls(bread sticks) very good they are about half the size of a small pizza and cover in cheese. My wife and I split the large Greek salad and the Mickenzie river pizza. The salad was huge and a good value, the dressing was a creamy feta differing in a good way. The pizza was very light and refreshing. Oh by the way on Tuesdays the kids get there face painted as part of the deal. That made there week!!!

Absolutely no wait on a Friday night for 7 people. Our server was incredibly friendly and personable, our food came out quickly and correctly, and it was all delicious! Hailing from NY I’m pretty particular about my pizza, so I went with the hummus platter and Cobb salad(both fantastic), but I ended up trying a bite of the Original River Co pizza and it was really good! The original crust is as close to NY pizza as I’ve had in the area. Also, it was a birthday dinner celebration. Although they don’t sing or anything, they comped a dessert. The flourless chocolate cake was so rich and tasty.

Love the Salads, Pizza is Pretty Dang Good! We have had the Flathead Pizza 2x now. Which is Alfredo Sauce, Fajita Chicken, Smoky Bacon, Tomatoes and Spinach(–mushrooms) and Mozzarella. Bob ordered the Cowboy Nachos with Pulled Pork. They were good… it could easily be a meal for 2. Their Pulled Pork was excellent. Come the last hour and the Cowboy Nachos are ½ Price!

I have driven past this place several times, and it’s always caught my eye. Sitting atop a little knoll on 82nd, this place stands out. and to be honest, it it’s appearance writes a check that the food can’t cash. When you first enter the front doors, the environment is welcoming, and neatly decorated. I was positive that we were in for some delicious food, but sadly I was wrong. It’s not that it was gross or disgusting. But I honestly can’t tell you that it had any flavor at all. It was boring, bland, and a little too lukewarm for my taste. The service was about as forgettable as the food. We saw our server about 3 times the entire time we were there. I have a feeling this place could be really great if the chef’s and severs stepped it up a few notches.

Great pizza, fish tacos, flatbread, chocolate chip cookie. Service typically very good. They could use more low calorie options. Tried Jamaican Chicken Flatbread today. It is very spicy and sweet less then 600 calories.
