This is your grandparent’s butcher shop! Living 3 blocks away from this place is THE best but I would make a drive to go here anytime. The selection is awesome and is not limited to meat but has jams, pies, eggs, and my favorite… chicken pot pies. But what makes this place special are the people who work there. They are immensely helpful and fun, it’s always a hub of activity. Get your non-vegetarian meat loving butt over there, you won’t regret it.

Shopping at Kincaid’s really pushes you to have a big crowd cookout because everything is so tasty, it’s hard to limit yourself when you start buying. It is delicious.

MEAT!!! Lots of wonderful meat choices and great customer service. Let’s not forget affordable and supporting a small local business. We love getting gyro meat from here for a version at home. Sausages are made in house. They will cut meat to whatever, however you would like it.

Went for the first time today. It is a great place with a great selection. The best part is the good prices. Don’t forget to grab a number. That was my rookie mistake today.

Grabbed a filet roast for V-day and it did not disappoint. Amazing selection and taste. One of the best meat shops in town.

Walk into Kincaid’s, and it’s like you’re stepping back into an era where butchers were kings(was this ever an actual era? if not it should be…). This is hands down the best neighborhood meat shop in Indy. Everyone working there is incredibly friendly, and their cuts of meat are delicious. The employees behind the counter really know their stuff. You can go in and say«I have 10 people coming over and I want to make a breakfast casserole. How much bacon do I need?» and before you even finish your sentence, they’ve told you what you need, given you some choices, and cut and packed up your selection for you. They sell a lot of hard-to-find items(things like pheasant, bison, lamb bacon etc.), and do so with awesome attitudes and pretty decent prices. Also, if you’re a soup maker, they’ll sell you soup bones for cheap. This is such a good place to have in the Illinois Street area, and I highly encourage a visit.

Nothing beats Kincaids. Their meats are excellent. They are a little more expensive but it’s worth it. The people behind the counter are super friendly and helpful as well.

Even though I live downtown, I shop here frequently. Everyone here is friendly, knowledgable and willing to go the extra step to take care of their customer. My last visit was on a very busy Saturday seeking goodies for my grill. I had a friend visiting and wanted them to experience the high quality meats from here. One of my requests was not readily available in their large case, but the butcher babe was happy to oblige. She broke down a full leg of lamb just to give me the cut I asked for. I wasn’t surprised at her effort because as I said before they take care of their customers but I was very appreciative. My out of towner also noticed and commented how great the service was. I highly recommend becoming a regular here, you won’t be sorry!

Wow… what a tremendous selection of products to be had here. Everything you expect from a traditional butcher shop and more. Dropped $ 60 without even really trying so if cost consciousness is your thing then this probably isn’t the place for you. Oh but the strip steaks were sooooo good grilled, the homemade sausages were perfect, breakfast sausage was fabulous, and the platter bacon cooked up just right. It’s hard to go wrong with a traditional butcher and Kinkaid’s is doing it right folks. Defintely worth the 30 minute drive for me and I will be stopping back.

Went to Kinkaid’s for the first time on my way home from work today — my husband and I decided to grill for dinner and it was literally on my drive home. I’m so glad I stopped. We’re on a tight budget, so I just got a few burgers, but they were soooo good! The guy helping behind the counter was really nice and made my first time there easy and pleasant. He even offered me a few dollars off some steak, but I just couldn’t stretch the budget this time. I will definitely go back for steak for our next special occasion, though! But the burgers were very good — said they grind the meat right there in the store and you could tell they were fresh. Much better than what we get at the grocery. It wasn’t crowded at all when I went, so he was able to spend time helping me out. Worth a try for anyone who hasn’t been there before!

I spent valentines in the warmth of my own home(which was preferable this winter!) with prime beef cuts and oysters to boot! Kincaid’s has excellent service and prime choices. They’re so helpful and have so much to offer. My first experience was so great and it’s officially my go to butcher shop.

Pros: –great selection of meats –high quality, humane, local –knowledgable, experts, and friendly employees Cons: –pricey –bacon selection weak(Goose outdoes them w bacon…) The long and short of it is-go here. It is pricey, but the quality they sell here is worth it(a little expensive…). The guys here like working at this place and I saw someone triming up a hunk-a-somethin real perty. Places like Kroger and Walmart make rib eyes and pork chops seem everyday. Enjoying meat should be a novelty and privilege. For me particularly it is something I indulge in only a couple times a week and therefore shelling out the big bux for the good stuff never seems frivolous. We bought a roaster hen, beef short ribs, and two small pieces of Chilean sea bass. I roasted the chicken tonight-very moist, little bloody, good flavor, more cartilage than I care for. The beef short ribs were overwhelmingly handsome at the store that I took home 5lbs of them and am planning in making a valentines day feast w them. They were the priciest thing we took home at roughly $ 10/lb!!! I think they are going to be real winners tho.

I always love going to Kincaid’s. They have the best selection when you are just looking to cook up some quality meat or wow some guests at a dinner party. It seems like their products have been pretty well described by past reviews, but I just have to say that it so warmed by heart to walk in and see meat in the cooler from my tiny hometown butcher in Southern Indiana. They are definitely representing Indiana to the fullest.

Kincaid’s is my favorite neighborhood butcher shop. Sure, Goose the Market is great, but I don’t live downtown and I like I to see a butcher shop that doesn’t hide the fact that they are a butcher shop. I’ve gone here twice, once for veal shanks and once for duck legs. Both times I was happy with the price and service. Kincaid’s does have a huge freezer full of meatballs, lobster ravioli, hot dogs, chicken gizards, anything this cook could want or need. They have GROUNDOSTRICH, people. And ANTELOPE. WTF? Who cares, I’ll try it. My only qualm is that a lot of the frozen meats and items do not have prices on them and I hate having to ask people about prices for 50 different items.

We’ve always wanted to check out a local butcher, so based in reviews hit up Kincaid’s. The hubby and I love the show ‘Chopped’ and they had an episode using ostrich meat. We were interested and decided to see if they had some available at the butcher. Good news: they did but I didn’t realize it was CRAZY expensive. The dude at the butcher was totally cool and gave us the low down on ostrich and explained why it’s $ 26/pound, which was interesting. He recommended elk in lieu of the bird so we gave it a try. We also found some rabbit which we picked up. The selection was amazing! They have goose and pheasant — totally cool. The usual meats looked great. Will be hitting this place up for some of those bacon/beef patties next time. Prices were reasonable and they are good with suggestions and providing the meat you really need. The service got alittle grumpy when they were busy and they need a slightly more effective number/service system in place. They took my number and then forgot about me so I had to stand around to pay a bit longer than I wanted. It gets über busy too — so I felt stressed with ordering. They have parking in the street or in the back, so it’s easy to get to.

My new my marketing role, I was looking to put together a gift basket for a giveaway at a golf outing. I decided on a BBQ theme and thought it would be a great idea to add a meat gift certificate to go along with it all. I searched local meat markets and this was the first place to come up. I stopped in and got what I needed with friendly service and a large variety of choices! Highly recommended.

Disclaimer: I’ve only been to Kincaids once. However, the one experience was great enough to give it 5 stars. There were a lot of people in line, but Kincaids helped me very quickly and answered all of my questions. I told them how many people I was trying to feed, and they quickly helped me select the right sized cuts of meat. They have information about how to cook everything and everyone was very friendly. I will be back.

Kincaid’s earns their 5 stars without question. They have wonderful meat, helpful staff that help you pick the right cut and a good selection. Walk in and take a number, and while you wait for them to assist you check out their big selection for premium(and mostly local!) meats. I’ve had pork chops, chicken breast, bacon and steak tips from Kincaid’s and I have enjoyed them all. The guy behind the counter even helped us pick which cut of steak would be best to make beef stir-fry. How awesome is that? You’ll get what you pay for here: fresh cuts of quality meat and great customer service. I’m hooked!

New purpose in life: Become a regular at Kincaid’s Meat Market Goals to follow initial«regular» goal: 1.) Have the friendly men at Kincaid’s know me by name. 2.) Have doctor subscribe Lipitor because you know high cholesterol runs in your family Brittany and there’s no way you can be a regular at the LDL cholesterol carnivorous fest without it. Yeah, I wanted to hang out at the meat market as long as possible. Maybe it was the friendly/semi-flirtatious meatmen? Abundance of local and unique meat options — elk, veal, ostrich, rabbit, etc. Or the smell of raw meat in the air?(hmmm…probably not that one). I have to credit Unilocaler Extroidinaire Michael C. for giving me the extra push to finally stop at Kincaid’s. It was his glorious explanation of their ground bacon and beef burgers that did me in. Yes. Bacon ground with beef. Stop drooling. So, I picked up not only a couple of these patties but also a few veal burgers. I would have bought more had I not been fixin’ to leave for an extended vacation. On the list for my next visit: a whole rabbit. I promised Dennis that I wasn’t holding back next time. In addition to their great variety, I’m also crushing on Kincaid’s hometown/laid back feel. By this, I mean the handmade signs in the front windows, not-so-flashy interior. and the employees who remind me of good olé country boys from my hometown. DId you catch that? That’s the third time I’ve mentioned the men of Kincaid’s. Prices were right where I expected them — I spent $ 17 on 4 bacon beef burgers and 2 veal patties. If we’d all stop purchasing so much damn meat it wouldn’t be a big deal to spend a little more dinero for higher quality. **Mark your calendars for a great opportunity to sample the best of Kincaid’s: evening of June 28 they will be having a free tasting party with the company of Sun King Brewery. Beer + meat = sign this girl up.
