Terrible. Waited over an hour for cold stale pizza and was not reimbursed or apologized to. What a fucking joke!

Called this Jacks and ordered a pizza on a monday night at 820 was told the pizza would be there in an hour so at 945 when they still hadnt delievered my boyfriend called back and asked what was going on because we are only a block amd a half from this location she told him she had told me an hour and 20 mins to an hour and 30 mins so he said fine and we waited another 20 mins and called back to tell them we just wanted to cancel the order. The woman who answered both times was incredibly rude. We had ordered from them a week ago and had no issues but we will not be ordering from them again. :-(

Good old Jack’s. Growing up, Jack’s was THE neighborhood pizza place. It’s really the only place we ordered from. Sure, we’d have«chain» pizza every so often, but just to have a decent pizza at home, it’d be Jack’s. Then they moved out of my parents’ neighborhood(Fountain Square) to the location on Sherman. Not a big deal, but with the move also came more pizza choices. Being an adult and resident of Irvington, I’m quite loyal to Jockamo, but every once in awhile you feel the need for something different, and for me, that’s Jack’s. I know what I’m going to get every single time I order and that’s a decent pizza. You definitely don’t have to worry about whether the«good» pie maker is working that night, they’re consistent; And for $ 20 and change you can’t pass up a deal that includes a large pizza, breadsticks and a 2-liter. I know I can always call Jack’s as my back up when my local is slammed!

On the beast side, there’s sure to be something strange in the neighborhood. Just remember that you CAN call Jack’s Pizza. Unlike the 80s where the past repeats itself, Jack’s has been there. I actually used to go to that Jack’s when I was a little girl. The Subway that used to be there *might* have been my first Subway(at least it was my first memory– remember the map wallpaper?). And there was a Cub Foods in that building that’s now usually vacant. Back when they used to rent VHS tapes there. Back to Jack’s. I don’t know how I could order a pizza without either sausage or pepperoni(I had banana pepper and mushroom). It just wasn’t the same without one of those key ingredients that makes it so unique. It was still pretty good. The employees were very friendly. In order to gain access to the store, there was a doorbell, and you couldn’t be wearing a hood or mask. Wonder if they have Ghostbusters on speed dial?

The facts are these: Jack’s was founded in 1966 when a pizza delivery driver scraped together his savings and bought his bosses out, the locally owned and operated chain has spent the last five decades expanding and contracting, spinning off Circle City Pizza and(I believe) Firehouse Pizza in the process, and while Jack’s has a surprisingly good visual brand and website, it’s not even an afterthought for most of us when we start to dial for a pie. I actually pass this location no less than five times a week and wasn’t aware of its existence. Buried at the back of a strip mall next to a large grocery store that has ceased to be, Jack’s on E. Washington St. suffers the indignity of not even being allowed street signage because the national pizza chain next door has exclusive rights to it. In some ways the Jack’s of my childhood is gone — the dusty logo, the dirty stores — in place of a slicker, more contemporary store front. The pizza is the same, though. The pleasantly cardboard-y crust, the crumbly sausage — all the things I loved about Circle City Pizza because it’s the exact same product. Now that the Circle City location downtown is no more, Jack’s is my spot for those times when I need pizza other than Jockamo. Considering how much bad pizza is sold in this city, it’s incredible to me that Jack’s doesn’t leverage their improved branding and the fact that they are the ‘original’ local guys to gain greater market share.
