Hoagies & Hops

Great authentic east coast sandwich shop. And it’s inside flat 12 brewery making them a great pair! I’ve had several sandwiches now and all of them were excellent.

Such a fantastic sandwich. Fresh and authentic east coast ingredients. Customer service is absolutely top notch. If you don’t visit you are missing out on the best sandwich shop in Indy.

The only thing better than the hoagies is the exceptional service and focus on detail provided by the shop owner, Kristina. A few weeks back we had family in town for our daughter’s baptism. After the event we had about 25 people over for lunch. Up until the night before we had planned to just provide appetizers we would pick up from Kroger. That evening we found ourselves at Flat 12 as we often do, and we approached Kristina about the possibility of having sandwiches made for the party. Kristina was unbelievably accommodating despite our quick turn around, and was able to put together three sandwich platters, a box of chips and pickles for the party with a bouquet of flowers and a hand written card. The hoagies were a HUGE hit! Everyone at the party loved them, and that is saying something seeing as these were East Coasters who have access to some of the top delis in the country.
Since moving here from Boston I’ve been looking for a sandwich shop that brings the east coast flavor, with Hoagies & Hops, I’ve finally found one within walking distance. I’d highly recommend stopping by, grabbing a ‘Shipyard’ from Kristina and sitting down with a Flat12 beer. In my opinion, this is the best sandwich in Indy!

I’ve returned twice since my original visit and have thoroughly enjoyed both of the sandwiches I’ve had. My boyfriend and I split a Market Street; I loved the tanginess of the coleslaw against the rest of the hoagie. Then more recently, I tested out the Lancaster, which I thought was very tasty, and even if it might not be healthy, with all of the cucumber, lettuce and tomatoes, I felt like I was making a healthy selection. [I hope they never post calorie counts so I can remain ignorant.]
The bread was delicious on each of my later trips and really added to the hoagies. I’ve upgraded my stars from four to five stars since I’m enjoying each new sandwich more than the last!

I had the Hog Island with chips and a pickle (but calling it just a pickle seems like an understatement — it was huge!) It was so delicious and I can’t wait to go back! As if I needed another reason to visit my beloved local brewery Flat 12. :-) Looking forward to many more delicious sandwich lunches at Hoagies and Hops in the future. Cheers!
