I love the patio, I love the draft lines inside of the«sitting area.» I would defiantly recommend coming one night just to hang out with friends. The staff is super friendly and if you get the munchies, there is a hoagie place right inside.(Check it out.)

I love the creativity of the beer makers here. Every time I come in, they have something different on tap. New, since the last time I visited, was a snack bar. Looked like they make sandwich’s and maybe salads. I didn’t get a chance to check it out, but it sure makes a good reason to go back. The back patio area has grown as well, now offering patio games like corn hole and a really large version of ball in the cup, but with trash cans and big bouncy balls. This is a really fun brewery and one of my favorite.

Flat 12 is one of my favorite local breweries. They are creative and have an array of everyday drinkable beers any beer lover would enjoy. They also always have well done seasonal beers. Flat 12 events are fun and when the weather is good, their outdoor patio space is perfect to bring your dog and grab a beer. You can also just bring your dog anytime you want because they are pet friendly which is always a plus. I have always had good service here even when they are crowded and the staff seem to have fun working together. This should be a stop as a local and definitely as a visitor.

Pretty decent group of people who run the show here. The beer is very good and the addition of Hop’s and Hoagie’s is a great move. It can be a little tough in the winter with a large crowd as some seem to gather in front of beer counter, improves with warmer weather as outdo patio is open.

Oh how I love Flat 12’s chill environment. Did you know that you can bring your dog into the tap room?! They are so nice and accommodating when you bring your furry friend. I brought my dog with me to have a beer on a week night and she received so much love from the Flat 12 crew. If you want to get your dog a treat, you can pop across the hall to Hoagies and Hops. They make dog treats that are made out of spent beer grains. Beer wise Flat 12 consistently has a great tap list. I currently am a big fan of their Lacto-matic Milk Stout. They also have tapping parties occasionally, so keep an eye on their events portion of their website. In the past I have been to Flat 12 for their anniversary party and to watch the Olympic hockey game. Both were packed, but service was great, and the vibe of the crowd was even better. I would highly recommend going to Flat 12 for an event, a beer on a week night, or even a private event.

I stopped in today for a growler fill and even though I’ve been in many times before… I still love Flat 12! Our service has always been great. The staff is always eager to help you find the right beer! I always keep watch for the coveted«Bleeding Heart». It’s my favorite! I’ve been to a few events they have hosted and it’s always been a great time. The atmosphere is amazing. Definitely check it out in warm weather when you can enjoy their patio and maybe some live music!

Meh, not a fan. Got a flight and the brown was the only one mildly drinkable. It’s the first time I’ve left more than half the glass left for each of the 4 samples. Overall bummed by the beer flavors(my four and my friend’s four). The location is really nice and the staff were helpful and friendly. Unfortunately, I won’t be back.

A lot has been said about Flat12 already, and to be honest I thought I reviewed it already. Alas, not the case. So, in an effort to not repeat all that’s been said already, lets keep this one short, Sweet, and bulleted: –Most important: the beer is good. I haven’t had one I didn’t like, but I really like the hammer down and lactomatic milk stout. –Wednesday and Friday are the best days to fill cheap growlers, see my photo for details –Dogs are allowed inside the brewery because they don’t make food. Yes, even with Hoagies & Hops. They don’t physically cook any food there, so it is allowed. –The service: the workers are friendly to humans and K9s. Dogs just aren’t allowed or tolerated, they are welcomed Go. Drink beer.

Flat12 is still worth a stop if you are touring breweries in Indianapolis. I used to be a huge fan of their beer a couple of years ago. Half Cycle was my go-to, and Walk About Pale was just marvelous. I’m not sure what has happened over the years, but the beer just does not taste the same as it used to, nor do they have the same creativity that they used to boast. Not that is is bad, it is just not very consistent, and lacks some of the punch that it used to have. I know they’ve had some changes with brewers, and I suspect that is a big part of it. I still stop in a couple times a year to check them out, but they are no longer on my regular list of breweries to stop at if I need a growler fill. I will be sure to update my review if things get better.

I love this brewery from the bottom of my heart-and glass. Hands down my favorite brewery in town. When friends visit; this is on my «must take all guests to» list. There is a little something for everyone– And their super friendly staff are awesome(that’s an understatement). Sample a few until you discover what you like — their samples are on the house. Then grab a flight if you can’t pick just one, a pint, or a growler to go, and enjoy! They have a great patio space to enjoy in nice weather and fun, quirky grocery cart chairs. Inside is plenty of space to sit back and relax, too. I also love their commitment to community. You can find them at just about every brew fest, festival and event. They have lots of fun opportunities — like Thursday night brew runs, to give you a chance to meet your neighbors and make new friends!

They are very good and outside deck is one of the best in the city. They need to get a little more adventurous with their beer to get to the 5 star level.

Worst customer service ever. Email several times the problems with Walkabout Pale Ale and the inability to pour the beer. Never a response from their web site link. With so many choices one would think they would care.

Went here for«Girls Pint Out», which I heard about from Unilocal.OHMANAM I GLAD I WENT! For free: 1 pint any beer on tap 1 tshirt 1 decal 1 sticker 1 metal beer opener 1 drink cozy A tour Something like 10 samples of «experimental hops brews» I met some awesome people at this event, too! The Brewers and marketing folks were SO knowledgeable. I really left feeling like I completely understood what hops were(we got to see them on the vine, smell varieties on pellet form and mash them up like a brewer would to smell the oils) and how they’re brewed. I can’t wait for some of the other events they mentioned, like an all-ladies comedy line-up, a few fall fairs and even something at Indy Fringe! A+ all around! There wasn’t even a tip jar for the 2.5 hour event, but I went inside to express my thanks to the main bartenders and leave some cash there.

Two words — HINCHTOWNHAMMERDOWN. A great beer to enjoy onsite at Flat12. Or, as an alternative, you can go on a wild goose chase to every grocery/liquor store around Indy for its canned counterpart to take to the track to drink while cheering on the mayor himself, James Hinchcliffe. «Go Hinch.» I yell amidst the roar of the cars after I drink one too many on race day. I can’t get enough of this delicious golden ale. Call me girly, cliché, whatever, just don’t call me wrong about this beer. I’ve had other beers here, all have been good of course, but I always go back to my beloved HH. Thanks Flat12, I’ll be back many a time.

Good beer, wish they stayed open later. Cool patio out back for drinking. Did not try food and honestly can’t even remember if it was an option.

My First time here. Great beer selection with 17 on tap! I did not expect that large of a selection. Nice quaint little tap room with a large projector screen for sports games and community snack bowls on the tables. You can do 5 tasters for $ 5 or three for $ 3. Definitely will be coming back again!

Flat12 is one of my favorite Indy beers. It was love at first sip. I fell head over heels after the 12 Chefs of Christmas, where Flat12 paired the 12 holiday dishes with 12 holiday-themed beers. Usually I gravitate towards IPAs, so you can imagine my surprise when I kept going back to the porters and stouts that night. There was one beer in particular that was brewed with GHOSTPEPPERS. Oh. My. Goodness. The heat in that brew was hypnotizing. Since then I’ve bought several 6-packs as well as stopped in the taproom for bullets that I can’t get in stores(I’m currently digging the Lacto-Matic Milk Stout). The staff is great there — very friendly and patient with the girl who takes forever to decide what she wants. On my last trip one of the employees mixed the Pumpkin Ale and Bourbon Jack together and had me sample his concoction. Uh, when is that going on tap? Flat12 better not be going anywhere, because I have big plans to spend some summery afternoons on their patio. Can’t wait!

One of my favorite breweries in town! Why, you ask? 1.) Innovation. This brewery is constantly coming up with fun brews. For example, «sushi» beer — ginger and lemongrass based. Brews barreled in wine, rum, brandy and tequila barrels. 2.) Super-fun parties. Tonight was not my first party, but I have to give Flat 12 some love for showcasing not 10, not 20, but 35+ brews at their Fourth Anniversary party in Cottage Home. 3.) friendly staff — I don’t know how they do it, but they always make me feel like such a regular when I am there — that same feeling of comfort goes for the patio and Flat 12 fire pit, tasting room and so on.

Nice cozy brewery with a nice outside seating space. Fun catchy beer names and quite a number of choices that are very hoppy which is good for me!

Love this lil brewery in downtown Indy. You can taste all the beers. FORFREE!!! They have a nitro?! A NITRO! Their beers are tasty. Go out and grab a brew. P. S. They’re open on Sundays. P. P. S. They’re also really close to Maxine’s Chicken and Waffles.

Brewery is open on Sunday. After the Colts game, I wanted a craft beer. Looked up on the map and saw Flat 12 is open. That’s what brought me here. I wasn’t sure which brew I wanted. So, I asked for a flight. The person working the bar let me know«samples are free!» Sweet. I sampled many before deciding on the brown. I like malty beers and the brown fits the bill. But, for you hoppy beer drinkers, you won’t be dissatisfied. The place is a brewery. But what makes this one different than the rest is that it is a great place to meet friends, grab a brew, and relax. It is also great to relax alone(which is what I am doing right now). There is carry out(growlers and bullets). There is indoor seating both with and without view of the TV. The is outdoor seating as well. Love this place. Workers are friendly. Beer is great. I will be back — next time with my wife!

As a teacher, I don’t really have any lazy afternoons during the school year, but the summer is full of them. I love finding a perfect place to sit around and drink a couple of beers on days like these, and Flat 12 is the place to do it. The inside feels a bit like a garage, and the outside is a wooden deck — in other words, it’s like drinking a beer on the porch at home, but communal. Awesome. Of course, you go to a brewery for the beer, and Flat 12’s is solid. Their standard far is a solid mix, but their seasonals are generally fantastic. There’s always something on the list that I love, and they do a good job of matching up the drinks with the weather. They have a lot of fun with their beer and their art, and don’t take themselves too seriously — but they definitely know what they’re doing. It’s also just wonderful to have a brewery on the Near Eastside, especially on a street which was recently nearly vacant. By the way, if you don’t like dogs, stay inside here — people love to bring their dogs. I’m a dog person, so this is a big plus, but fair warning in case you aren’t. Oh, and if you come hungry, there’s always a food truck outside. Great beer, great place, great folks. This is definitely one of the top five breweries in Indianapolis.

I recently went around to a lot of the Indy breweries for a bachelor party and one of the stops was at Flat 12 Bierwerks. This brewery has many types of beer to choose from, a great outdoor seating area, and actually sells pints in the store! Even after visiting a number of other breweries around town, it seemed that the group generally agreed that the best beers we had that day were found at Flat 12. Their expansive selection had something for everyone and the large patio area offered a great place to enjoy those beverages. Unfortunately I live too far away for this to be a usual hang out spot… but I may just have to make a habit of stopping in for a growler fill every now and then.

Well hello there Flat 12. When did you show up in the neighborhood? I’m a bit embarrassed to say that I’ve lived not too far away for some time now, and didn’t know Flat 12 was around. Shame on me. I corrected the issue the other night by stopping in and grabbing a beer while I dined on some yummy Red Chicken Curry from Scribble Food Truck, which was parked out front. When it comes to beer, I’m by no means an expert. My eyes gloss over when people start talking about hops and IPA’s and the ABV. Heck, I can’t even tell you if that last line even makes sense. What I can tell you is that I do drink beer, and there are some I like and some I don’t. I try and stick local when I can, and I think the local beers taste better than the national brands. I acted like I knew what I was doing, walking in with my food and seeing a couple ordering beer at the counter. I ordered a pint of the Penrod 22, a Kolsch style ale. I figured a limited release beer that was named after the Penrod Arts Fair was about as local as it could get. The official description reads like this: «A Kolsch style ale in limited release in 2013 for the Penrod Arts Fair. It’s cold fermented — giving it lager-like qualities. This beer pours a deep gold color and possesses a fragrant, fruit nose and smooth finish. Penrod 22 will be featured at the Penrod Fair in 2013.» Uh yeah. that’s just what I was thinking. My official review: It was cold. It was wet, and it washed down my dinner perfectly. That’s what a beer should do in my mind. I will be back to Flat 12 to try and expand my knowledge of beer. Who knows, maybe one of these days things like IBU and ABC will make sense to me!
