Hands down the best grocery selection in the area — a bizzilion times better than Buds up the street. Heck, it’s even better (in some ways) than fancy pants Fresh Market.
Yesterday for instance, I was getting stuff to bake cookies and I wanted Nestle Chunks because I love them. I thought for sure I could find them at Fresh Market, but NO! I was denied and overpaid for a bag of regular morsels. Then when I was cruising around town I stopped at Safeway to see if they had them and sure enough, they did and cost 10% less. yuppers.
I have other stories about trying to go to Buds for stuff — like fresh Parmesan cheese only to find they didn’t have what I wanted… i didn’t feel like going downtown or to southport, so I gave Safeway a shot and they had my back.
Another perk, should you decide to venture in, is their wine/​beer selection. It’s actually pretty decent (better than Buds at least) and the prices are good too. If you are into going local, they carry Easley wines. I was pretty happy to see that.
The neighborhood is, well, the neighborhood… it is located at Raymond and Shelby after all. I’m happy that this grocery store is here and support it when I can.

As far as a grocery store, I would never come here to really shop. If I needed popcorn on the way home, as was the case on Monday, I would stop here. The other reason to stop in, their crazy candy display in the freezer section. They have the weirdest stuff. Gummy totem poles of fish, grey Mt. Rushmore suckers, every Now and Later flavor ever, and a wide flavor variety of Moon Pies. This is not a local grocery store in Carmel, it’s on Shelby and Raymond so get ready to take in the local flavor.
